  1. Ga, 'camps'... what an utter waste of time... Chain them up in the town square and give them a good flogging... problem solved.
  2. As an ex-BT faults advisor I can tell you theres not a huge deal that can be done... the only options that you can try are... 1) Annonymous caller rejection - I believe can be activated free in these circumstances and simply will not let anybody that has number withold on call you. This does not work against tele-marketing etc as they're numbers are 'unavailable' (behind a switch board normally) which is different from withhelled. 2) Choose to refuse - allows you to block the last number to call you even if you cant see the number (ie you dial a code after thay prank you and it'll block that number from there on.) Take into account though if they're doing it from more than one number you'll have to keep blocking lots. If I remember rightly you can get this free for 3 months, and again doesnt work on unavailable numbers. 3) Get your number changed. To be honest, there is not a lot that can be done, except option 3 basically because the law won't allow it due to damm liberals and their 'privacy' laws. There is a dedicated body that has been setup to offer advice on the problem called the Nuisance Calls Bearau, which is often where BT send you anyway... the number is 0800 661 441, normal office hours if I remember rightly. BT cannot give you the number of whos been calling you, and Im fairly certain cant even tell who it was anyway. Anyway, i'm a little 151-rusty, so I'll sent Andrew/Scorge on here later with more info.
  3. I don't like consoles, simple as. I'm a PC person through and through, adaptability seems the logical choice. Have to admit though the technology is impressive for such a size and it is fairly sexy...

  5. Heh, wish I'd had this many allies back in the days it was Me V. The Wasteland on this matter! Good to know other people can still think for themselves
  6. Heh, this just goes to prove how much databases are holding me back. My php is reaching very high end stuff now, but my lack of knowledge of databases complicates matters. Did 3 years of the bloody things at uni, so I can design fairly efficient databases, removing repeating data blah blah you get the idea. I have a nice big mySQL manual I'm trawling through at the moment. While you're here, if I set a field to be of type Date, how would I insert a date into it from the php end, and what format does if come out as (eg when I get the data using the usual select query, does the date just come out as a string formated XXXX:XX:XX or as an array with the three elements?) Sorry if I don't make much sense, the problem of being self taught is you can learn everything perfectly, but you don't really know the terminology. Also, what purpose do months really serve? A day is a rotation of the planet, a year is the rotation of the planet around the sun... months seem kinda needless. May as well just have the day number and skip the months. Right, from now on as far as I'm concerned to day is 2004.027
  7. I promised people after the first time i watched I'd give it one more chance, but I've given up and have no intent to see it to the end.
  8. Why in the name of god do American's see some logic in placing the months before the days? Doing a web design project and its proving to be one major pain in the arse... If you don't know what I'm talking about, Americans list the month before the day, so todays date would be written 01.27.2005... its just goddam stupid... does anyone know a good explanation for it? While we're on the subject, does it not make a lot more sense to completely reverse the way we write the date, so today would be 2005.01.27 - I do this anyway when storing dates in a database as it becomes nice and simple to sort queries in chronological or reverse chronological order. For example in our current system 12.01.1111 would be rated as a higher value than 01.01.2005 simply because of the leading number 1, despite being a thousand years ago, but if you write the date in reverse you get the correct order. Everywhere else I can think of you put the largest measurment of the thing being measured first... eg in time they do Hours (largest), minutes then seconds (smallest), so why not with dates. [/utterly pointless rant]
  9. *shoots self, then shoots all of you!* (yes in that order.... shuddup!)
  10. Look at it this was... only western Europe and America would actually be offended by a nazi uniform. A lot of the world don't even see world war 2 as being the 'Good allies defending themselves against the evil invading nazis' - they see it as just 2 sides, but killing, both commiting atrocities. Hitler and Churchill were just 2 leaders, not a monster and a saviour. So, if a large majority of the world don't feel the need to be offended by the nazi party, why should we? History is history - leave it there. If I turn up to fancy dress wearing my family crest (my family were Irish nobility with a castle long long ago) should someone from a rival family back then be offended? If I turn up to a fancy dress in 13th century Scotish armour should an englishman be offended? If I turn up in a Roman Catholic priests gown should the protestants in the room be offended? If I show up in a 16th century spanish sailors uniform should someone from the navy be offended? The answer is no. So why the hell should people bo offended by the uniform that a specific army wore at one stage in history?
