As big a loss as John Peel to me.

I always tried to catch his Friday Rock Show in the 80'/90s as it featured great music, interviews and concerts.

RIP Tommy Vance, a TRUE METAL WARRIOR. :(

TV on the Radio was the highlight of a Friday night when i was younger. I got into a lot of bands because of him.

He will be sadly missed

R.I.P. Tommy

whilst personally peel had more influence on me, there's no doubt that many will mourn the loss of vance in the same way - he always came across as a genuinly decent bloke (and was the only man i thought could wear shades indoors and get away with it), his championing of metal via the friday rock show was second to none and like peel, gave many bands their first airplay. although not as high a profile as peel, another radio legend has gone upstairs to sort out the playlist in the sky. he will be sadly missed.

i remember him playing RATM's fistful of steel on the rock show for the first time. i was like, FUUUUCCCCCCK! that's cool! i bought the album the next day.

imagine a world in which you've never heard RATM... weird.

he played lots of stuff i love now. bless 'im.
