Chris
Might as well answer the thread properly now:PolitikDedalus Reasons Are RedFrom Her Ashes (there's my bit of self promotion)Small Enclosed Area (can't wait to see what they've got for this year at the fudge awards)But really I'm looking forward to seeing new bands come out and impress me, that's what it's all about. I've had a quiet year for going to gigs and intend to change that this year, but I want to see lots of great reasons to go out..
psydoll
Well bands that I hope to check out this year are:Identity - Seeing them tonight as part of the Crashbreaker at the Moorings. The X-Certs - Apparently better than ever and I've only seen them once which was ages ago.Stayover - Interested in seeing a full-on gig by you guys. I presume the Moorings gig that started off acoustically isn't the 'finished' product?Ghost Of Bongo - I hear nothing but good things about these guys (apart from that pesky Burnham) and have been meaning to check them out for a while. I shall do it next opportunity I get.Broken Sunshine - Haven't seen them since one of their first gigs in Drakes and hear they've improved greatly. Recordings I've heard would certianly suggest so.The Planeteers - The Eco-Warrior Ramones sound like a good laugh and I look forward to seeing and hearing the fruits of their labours. The Videos - New songs, new set, new name. Have to see them sooooon to see if it's an improvement Quik - Looking forward to seeing the new lineup and songs in a venue soon.Dedalus - Again haven't seen them for ages and hear fantastic things about them. Guest idol_wild
My opinion is that very few local bands earn their salt...with some exceptions. Nero always impressed me, and now Le Reno Amps make me boogy. Politik (or Copy_haho - whatever those pretentious little scamps have changed their monicker to) write fantastic songs, but they're not going to make it big, unfortunately, and song-smiths Dedalus could really do something. If they got their asses in to gear.
jester1470
The Needles album is out this year...Yes' date=' honestly! (it's been in the making longer than "Chinese Democracy")They still count as a local band, right? I would tentatively bet that they'll sell more units than any other Aberdeen band this year.*crosses fingers* *touches wood*[/quote']I might take you up on that bet CheersStuart
