Guest
Hey there.I mowed the grass drunk a few months ago and managed to run over the power cable, severing it completely. Anyone able to fix this/know where I can get it fixed? Preferably not for a lot of money.
Surfer_Rosa
I opened this thread expecting you to be asking for advice on how to remove your penis from a lawnmower you'd tried to have relations with.EDIT: I could have been some help if that was the case. I don't know anything about power cables though, sorry.
Skacel
You might be able to fix it yourself? You'd be able to get cable from B&Q,Something like this might work (think the rating is good for 240V - you'd need to check how much current your lawn mower draws though):www.diy.comI'm no sparky though so take this with a pinch of salt. Cabbage
Denis Marshall? I hear he does a mean flymo mod as well if you still have enough length of flex from the plug to the severed end you could just clean up the severed end and rewire it. All you'd need is a knife, philips screwdriver and a small flat screwdriver at most. You've already fucked you mower so there's not much to loose if you fuck it further! just make sure you wire the correct wires in the correct positions, maybe take a photo before you remove the old wire. There is only three wires to connect up on the mains cable plus there will be a cable grip as well, thats pretty important if you dont want to have some live wires falling out of you mower when you drunkenly pull it past the end of its now shorter flex.

Scootray
I did this, but I wasn't drunk - just clumsy. My mum just pulled back the cable covering, wound the wires together and taped it all up.That doesn't sound very safe.
Old Gold
Be a man Nef. Wire a plugSlutbag's ma's way is kinda acceptable, so long as each wire is tightly wound and really well (individually) taped. Maybe use an extra lair of gaffa tape to secure everything. Scootray
Would she not be safer with one of those wire connectors? Don't know the exact name for it, but it's like a little plastic box where you put the wires in either side and screw them in place from the top? Me and Parvati
If you don't know how to do it safely, and the implication is that you don't if you're asking on a music forum, I would recommend not fucking around with 240 volts a.c. In the wrong place, it can ruin your day very effectively. The only sure way to fix thecable is to shorten it as suggested, or replace it. If you're not sure even how to wire the plug up, I would suggest forking out for some professional help. Or a new mower, which may be cheaper!Jim. Anyone able to fix this/know where I can get it fixed? Preferably not for a lot of money.Mr Nefarious CYour reputation says you have a brilliant future ahead but I doubt it - especially if you use taped up mains cable connections. I hate to think of what might happen if it was to start to rain while you were dragging those taped connections through damp grass.PM me your address and I will come round on Sunday and does this safely.
