Guest droid
There's a new music shop opening in Union Square soon, also selling music novelties too. Bigsby
If it's the company I'm thinking of I'm amazed they are still in business, always seemed to be dead whenever I was in the one at Leith.
Guest droid
Yeah, let's see how they long they survive in Union Square paying those rents and service charges.(first year is rent free allegedly)

neepheid
Judging by the website - 12 makes of guitar, 3 of bass - it'll be the usual (but understandable) waste of my time.
Alkaline
Folks could always just give the place a chance...
Chris
Looks like it's going to be staffed by former Bruce Millers employees so that's in it's favour. I work right beside Union Square so imagine I'll be in there quite often for bits and bobs. Loads of people said they wanted some competition for R&B once BMs shut - well now there is. Should be a good thing.
Guest E.C
It can only be better than the instrument shop in Stonehaven...so that's a plus.
Chris
It can only be better than the instrument shop in Stonehaven...so that's a plus.Hah, you say that but when I bought my head and cab I forgot to buy some speaker cable to connect the two. Tried Millers and a couple of other likely places to no avail but I was staying with my folks for a few weeks and nipped into Ma Simpsons who had loads.Their instrument stock is pretty shite but then they're mostly catering to a beginners and youth market as everyone else will buy from Aberdeen or online.Celtic Chords round the corner has some acoustic gear. Jaaakkkeee
I think it'll be decent to pop in to when in union square. But to be honest I'm like Wayne. I'll play that guitar every weekend but I'm not going to buy it until i've got money coming out of my nose.
Guest droid
Looks like it's going to be staffed by former Bruce Millers employees so that's in it's favour. Really ! Also judging by what kind stock they have in their Leith shop, i don't think R and B will have much to worry about.
stoney_stu
Celtic Chords in Stoney is a good shop some great quality acoustic guitars... the people who run Ma Simpsons do a lot of good for the music community in Stoney so more power to both of them... There is enough negativity in the world without people adding to it needlessly.
Guest E.C
I wasnt being negative. I meant in the sense that say...getting lots of money is better than getting some money. They're both good, but one is better than the other.I'm a pretty big fan of Stonehaven, so please cease and desist with this slander. stoney_stu
If you read your comment .. it looks negative ! but I will desist ...Competition for R&B is good, its a struggle for guitar shops these days ... lets hope they both thrive. Chris
Really ! Is that a question or a statement? The press release on their website says it's being managed by Lauren from BM's and they're taking other staff members from there to the shop. Guest E.C
Imagine if it opened and...it was Bruce Millers. INCEPTION.

Bigsby
Very nice selection of acoustics/bazoukis etc in the one in Stoney (Not Ma Simpson's, which is good for bits and bobs). The Imported Instruments in Edinburgh always had a very nice selection of teles, some Godins and the odd second hand Gibson. Plus cheap stuff, strings, t-shirts, ukuleles etc.

Alkaline
So, September has come and gone, no sign of any activity in Union Square as of yesterday, anyone know if this is still going ahead?I think Jimbo's Tupperware Shack (or whatever the fuck it's called) is causing a few problems lease-wise. At least that's what i heard anyway, could be wrong.
