Guest JD brand manager
Hi there everyone,I'm the Jack Daniels Student Brand Manager for Aberdeen. I'm running a few events this year, promotions in off licences, whisky tastings etc., but my biggest event is the JD Set - unsigned. I'm looking for bands to compete in a battle of the bands style event, hopefully being held in Moshulu late november/early december.I need student bands to compete, the prize on the night will be a bag with JD stuff in it for each band member, including a bottle of Jack!I need six bands for the actual night, but I can enter more than six into the JD set - unsigned competition, and, if you win, you will be one of six bands who get the chance to go to london for a few days, spend that time with professionals in the music business (light guys, sound guys, musicians, but promoters and lawyers as well) to give you a real feel for the industry. At the end of the the few days, you put on your own, professional gig for about 200 people.Only rules are:1) Has to be a student band!2) You need a demo tape to enter.3) You can't already be signed to a label.4) You need to have a rock/indie sound. If anyone wants to take part, then let me know! black_matter
oh shit yeah. Well i'll make a point of not, i repeat, NOT accepting the drink. Christ i'm only trying like you guys are I couldn't give two hoots about a bottle of booze really. The rules also do not state that bands have to be over 18. So i'll keep my fingers crossed until i'm told otherwise.
Cloud
Wow, JD have a "student brand manager" for Aberdeen? That's pretty crazy...Hopefully their unsigned night will attract a lot of new faces to the music scene in Aberdeen
black_matter
i dunno why but i sense a minty hint of sarcasm there cloud ?(
Cloud
Nah, no sarcasm...anything, no matter how wanky and corporate that introduces music to new people in Aberdeen is good. It would be great to see more events like this take place here - really, the more big name backing, the more the scene can grow into something sustainable. Taylor_dB
We got 4 students out of 5 members, and the other member is a drummer so he doesn't really count anyway www.myspace.com/debassed - old recordings, different members now, new songs, but ya get a feel for us. Add a year and half onto those recordings
