Knives + The Fall Of Boss Koala + Turning 13 - 30th March - Drummonds

Recommended Posts

KNIVES play a hedonistic blend of Chicago style math rock and mid 90's emo. Drawing influence from bands such as shellac, table, off minor, city of caterpillar and the jesus lizard they then chew it all up and spit it out right in front of your eyes.

Duel vocals, complex structures and time signatures litter the bands music. they never return to a riff or over play a part. Every second is interesting with twists and turns, ups and downs while never loosing intensity.

Live, the exploits of the three knives men are becoming something of legend. Band members rush through audiences scream in faces and generally create mayhem wherever they place their presence.

With a debut 7" out now, a split 7" with what price, wonderland? and a full length on the way knives are not a band you can afford to miss.

adrian fry-bored fanzine.

thought the best band were FoBK - although the screamo vocals weren't really my thing.

The opening band weren't anything special, to be honest.

Knives were ok - I wouldn't rush out to buy their music but I enjoyed them enough.

Seemed to be a lot more neds in around the time Knives were on - including a couple of muppets who started to spark up their tabs then proceeded to have a moan when they were told to go outside to smoke them.

The new clean air policy is ace - i don't feel like I've been gargling glass this morning and the only smell on my clothes is my usual stink of me.

I'd never seen Turning 13 before, they were a lot more mainstream sounding than I expected for some reason.

Can't say I noticed the neds but then I was at the front having my eardrums pummelled. Did get accosted by some homeless guy hanging about in the bogs scrounging money. Gave him all the change I had which consisted of about 25p which I knew was all I had. And some incredibly drunk guy with a Firetrap shoulder bag bumped into me at the bar and proceeded to glower at me as if I'd bumped into him. Twat.
