  1. I have always been in a musical family so came natural. I originally started with drums when I was around 7 or 8 but my dad had a guitar, so I started to get interested in that. He can still only play 2 songs after all these years, oh Diana and house of the rising sun. Getting my first guitar at 11 was quite funny. My mum and dad were divorced and didn't really like each other. My mum bought me a good old encore for Xmas but no amp. My dad being my dad and not liking my mum, went out and bought me a 100 watt Marshall just because he knew I couldn't play but damp I could make noise. I still want my dad's guitar now. It's a hofner senator from the 60s. I had a few random lessons from a teacher and in school but found as most do the old scale thing boring so went alone to learn songs. I then met a guy who is now a good mate of mine who started to teach me but this guy was so good I used to just watch him play rather than learn anything. He is still my idol now. He has no desire to show his talent but this guy should be out on the road with Guthrie Govan and Co, he's that good. Only thing annoys me is I was a far better guitarist when I was 16-18 than I am now. Used to play all my rock stuff, van Halen, extreme, Mr big anyone quite easily. Now I play chords with some random solos.
  2. I would guess it's the same person unless they are twins as the date of birth is the same. Stevie the detective
  3. Also have some tuners plus bridge with springs. All chrome and like new
  4. No problem. A sound hole can get too boomy where up the neck and be too high. 12th is normally know as sweet spot as it is where the body generally meets the neck so works well for dynamics. On my main acoustic I use a mic, plus the guitar has a jack out going via preamp and a Di out that misses the preamp so use all 3. Experiment. That's what it is all about.
  5. Unfortunately yeah. So go with a 57
  6. Personally I like to use both as a blend. Pickup and a mic. Mic wise place the mic at the 12th fret, normally the sweet spot rather than the sound hole. Whenever I have worked with someone like Martin Taylor he always uses both. Adds more dynamics. But I couldn't go for the pickup in the link. Wait and buy something of a much higher quality and same goes for the mic. 57s are fine but something like a 414 would make a huge difference. If you have 2 mics then try get 12th fret and some body.
  7. Shame. They remind me so much of the band thunder tho. Next Saturday ain't it?
  8. But if willing to spend that much on a second hand acoustic you should be able to find a good Taylor or Martin. Agree with the sigma tho. Really like their version of the 000m. Just take your time in deciding what you want.
  9. I had a new Taylor gs mini e yesterday. Fantastic. 500 quid, compact but the sound is awesome. I love my other acoustic but sometimes change is good. Depends what you want. I love a dreadnought Sound but don't like the feel when playing it cos of the size. My belly gets in the way. I have a washburn ea20 original ones not the new cheaper models which is not great acoustic but when plugged in its a monster where not the little mini sounds amazing acoustic so best of both worlds.
  10. Can always try studiospares also. They make their own version of quite a few different monitors.
  11. Na my bb plus pedal laughs in the face of the tube screamer. Not for me. Was expecting way much more cos of all the hype. Would rather wait and just get a single bb.
  12. Consider swapping for another quality od pedal.
  13. As it says. 65 quid. The muppet I bought it off removed the 9v adapter input. Easy to put new one in. Half the price of a new one.
  14. But also you never know who reviews something. Somebody may have just gone from desktop speakers up to monitors and made a huge difference. Same when people have the whole PC v mac fight. The mac is so much faster but the PC they just upgraded from was 5 years old. So obviously it's faster.
  15. I worked for 7 years on cruise ships which is a fantastic job but my final contract I was on there was a cruise director who was just the biggest cock ever. I finally got the boot when I called him a 2 faced cunt. Flew me home from Copenhagen the very next day. But while I was flying home my girlfriend (now wife) got left behind. She still had 3 months left on her contract. In my defence. He really was a 2 faced cunt.
  16. Scott. Don't bother with getting cheap ones. The whole point people are saying to get a set is so you have a good reference for mixing and help greatly towards a good mix. Getting cheap ones will only make you adjust things you don't need. I've had cheap sets where they are bass heavy or bottom heavy. You adjust the mix accordingly then sounds rubbish on a good system. If you have good headphones use them until you can purchase a good set. Will save you money in the long run. As you know but something cheap, when you sell it on the value drops through its arse. Better to hold off.
