  1. The celeb-death equivalent of hitting the post http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2742702--releases-video-of-lamar-odom-after-collapsing-in-la-nightclub so close...
  2. I started doing a podcast with a friend. Have been using an old zoom H2 recorder which isn't ideal. The sound quality is just impossible to maintain between two people. It's a nice little mic/recorder but for podcasting it just won't do. Therefore, I just purchased 2 Audio Technica mics (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004QJOZS4/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) which from my research are supposed to be ace. I'll prob just plug them both into USB ports and record two tracks in garage band or whatever. However, I figured there would be a way to record two audio tracks onto my iPhone easy enough. Turns out there isn't. Or at least I just can't find a good way. Question: anyone know the best way to plug two mics into an iPhone? This mic has USB or XLR. I found this thingy which looks decent (albeit overpriced for what is essentially an adaptor) but it's just one input: https://www.rode.com/ixlr. Wondering if there's a product out there that has: - phantom power (drawn from the phone or a battery, doesn't matter) - 2 xlr inputs - and/or 2 usb inputs - that connects to an iPhone https://www.amazon.com/IK-Multimedia-channel-professional-interface/dp/B0148JMEEI/ref=sr_1_19?s=musical-instruments&ie=UTF8&qid=1509995412&sr=1-19&keywords=irig This hingy looks like it fits the bill but i'm wondering if there's maybe a cheaper alternative i'm missing because I only need it to record basic voice tracks. Although maybe that's not important
  3. The whole Utd team was rubbish. Thoroughly enjoyable wknd of football I thought. Leicester v Stoke was one of the games of the season for me. Wasn't your typical mid-table slobberknocker - the football was actually really good. Both teams attacking and defending well. Palace are gonna be ok. Enough quality in that team to start winning for sure. It would have been the most spursian thing to do had they lost to Palace after flattening Real. City are probably right now the best team I've ever seen in my lifetime. I say that with some careful consideration too. Of course, they've won fuck all but in pure footballing terms, they're absolutely incredible. Beating Napoli 4-2 at their gaff cemented it for me. Barca a few years ago were incredible but still fairly reliant on Messi (controversial opinion perhaps amongst your chin-stroking Xavi/iniesta wank-a-thon types, but it's true - you take him out that team they're nowhere near as unbeatable). Galactico-era Madrid were incredible but patchy. Maldini/Costacurta/Baresi era Milan I caught the tail-end of so can't comment too much on. This City team just have scintillating quality all over and look like a unit. Every player on the pitch seems capable of doing something no other opposing player can. Pep's Barca had a slow triangle-passing build up that would wear teams down and finds holes, this team looks more attack-minded that makes those holes. Morata can fairly head a football eh? A really satisfying header in a world where it seems a forgotten art-form.
  4. Much like Colin kapernick jerseys bring the highest selling in the NFL, a gay player would boost sales amongst non-football folks. Makes sense really. That Spanish team sold a shit ton of rainbow shirts. it’s entirely in-keeping with near future evolutions in football. More players will come out in the coming years. Makes sense to future proof the game and put it in as a feature. Fuck the cave man mob.
  5. I thought the last season was actually pretty good. It's taken so long to build this world it you feel really invested in it so maybe my blinkers are on in terms of how good the show actually is. The mad lion king dude in the last season was equal parts ace and dumb. The Negan character was legitimately great though - so evil to the very core, which isn't always the case with baddies on shows like this. They went for it 100% to the point where he was so evil you kinda liked him for it. I get weirdly nostalgic watching the Walking Dead. Watching them in such dire peril I'm thinking things like 'oh remember when life was bliss back in the prison'. I think it shows how well they've built up their universe over the years.
  6. Tried that Mindhunter - couldn't make it through the first episode. Thought it was cheesy as fuck and the acting was terrible. Worth sticking with I take it?
  7. The Americans season 5 is ace. Really glad we stuck it through a few ropey patches.
  8. I subscribe to athletico mince and listen occasionally but it’s not in my regular pod rotation. The others I’m pretty religious with. AM is silly in the best possible way.
  9. The 90s Football Show is ace-ic. Lots of good guests - unsurprisingly mostly 90s football people. Matt le Tiss, Darren Anderton, etc. I'm up to 5 football pods now: Totally Football, Guardian, The Game, Football Ramble and this one. It's leaving very little time for anything else but i'm also currently listening to Dirty John which is great so far.
  10. What happened to J-Roc? I gave up after the Snoop Dogg episode. Quite possibly the worst bit of TV ever. I feel compelled to finish it but that episode put me right off.
  11. Mr Lahey from Trailer Park Boys has been kicked out of Sunnyvale for good. Best drunk-acting actor ever hands down.
  12. Touching the void? I’m talking about the film of course, not the moment of post-ejaculatory introspection
  13. Lights out for William G Stewart http://www.telegraph.co.uk/tv/0/william-g-stewart-fifteen-one-host-dies-84/
  14. Less than jake and fenix tx were among my first gigs too. There’s a black hole in my memory where my very first gig should be. No idea what it was. i never did a chaperoned AECC pop concert. My family were too poor for that back in the day. So it must have been a proper gig when I was a bit older. I think I might have been here if that counts:
  15. Anyone see Balotelli's goal this wknd? What a skelp! https://twitter.com/btsportfootball/status/909463093025132544
  16. He absolutely has a point. How long have Arsenal been bemoaning the fact they don't have a central striker in the RVP mold? Then they bring in Lacazette, bench him for Danny fucking Wellbeck - who lacks confidence and talent, as well as never having been a main striker - then stick him out wide when he does come on. Then they have, as you say, a natural left-sided defender who has looked solid since coming in AND has shown capabilities at set pieces - this being an obvious mismatch against one of the worst set-piece defenses in the league. Normally I'm not one to jump on the Arsenlol bandwagon - most of the time I just think they're beaten fairly by better teams on the day and there's little Arsene could do to change that - but that truly was a disaster that stems directly from the manager.
  17. Auclair is ace as well. I kinda like Sid Lowe too, even though he errs slightly on the side of cheeky Englishman abroad. I picture him sipping a stella wearing loafers with no socks and a polo shirt with a popped collar. He knows Spanish fitba through and through. I was surprised how insightful David Preece was on totally football or guardian weekly... can't remember which. Made some very interesting observations about goalkeeping. At first I kinda dismissed him due to him having the vocabulary of someone who kicks a ball for a living but he clearly knows the GK position very well. How good are Milan this season btw?! Incredible transfer activity and they're clicking right away. Serie A could be well juicy this year.
  18. If you're still looking for a good football podcast, a couple of the guys from The Football Ramble (which I like) have just released the first episode of a new one called 'on the continent' - focusing on European football obvs. James horncastle on the first episode - always worth a listen.
  19. Revoke thee and practice on the q train highlights if you're skimming. My wife cried at this gig, it was so good. One of her tracks was about her brother who got shot and she stood in the crowd doing it, crying and everything. One of those gigs you just can't describe how good it was.
  20. Just got back from one of the best hip hop gigs I've ever been to. Holy shit this girl is everything! Latasha Alcindor Her show was just incredible. Straight into my top 5 best shows ever. It was part cinema, part dancey thheater and most part straight rap. Incredible. Her stuff that's available on Spotify might not do her justice, haven't listened to it all but this girl is gonna be huge I reckon. Wow!
  21. Knowing how much of an issue shirt numbers are on this thread, I was recently made aware that this happened and thought I'd share. Neymar at santos
  22. The Game with Gab Marcotti is good. He's one of the few journalists who eschews that snearing 'I hate football' attitude that is so fashionable these days and shows genuine enthusiasm for the game. The first ep of jimbo's pod was ace. He's the best.
  23. I didn't realise they were all 'injured'. That's laughable. It's crazy the window isn't shut before the season starts. What possible advantage is there to extending the window beyond the start of the season? It's also crazy how much drama there is in football in general but particularly around transfers. But, if you think about the type of person involved in football it's kinda not surprising - people in their 20s who dab, who eat at Nandos and who carry luis vuitton toilet bags. They're basically still kids, just throwing strops about lots of money.
  24. Rojo is an excellent footballer without being that good at any position. He's such a weird player. Totally forgot about Ashley young. He'll go on a run of 3 games where he scores multiple far post curlers as he does most seasons. Here's my prediction for City's lineup first game: -------------------------Ederson--------------------- Walker----Kompany----Otamendi----Stones---Danilo -------------------------Toure------------------------ ---------------KDB----------Silva---------------- ---------------Aguero---------Jesus-------------- I know Pep has played them both in pre-season, but I don't see how it'll work consistently having both Aguero and Jesus on the pitch given the fact they are essentially the same player. 3 attacking midfielders and one finisher always seems more effective to me. But then again, i know fuck all compared to Guardiola.
