  1. I find her to a bit like eating copious amounts of sweets, great at the time and quite often very enjoyably, but sometimes overindulgence makes you feel sick, or leaves that sugary residue on your teeth. That was an awful analogy, but it's the best I can muster just now. I've been meaning to check out the new one, might do so next time I venture forth into town. .
  2. You're being cryptic, which I hope means that you're referring to albums that are embarrassing to you... If so, why fucking care? I apologise for the obscenities, but youre obviously being a silly man, you need more catnip!
  3. This is awesomely gorgeous music! I really hope to make it along to this. Peacocks gigs at this time of year are especially special, winter and ambience mix extremely well in my book.
  4. The footage on youtube is terrifyingly good. No audience puke action to back up the infamous stories of the volume though...X-( I've been on a bit of a Swans binge since seeing Gira perform the likes of 'She Lives' and 'God Damn the Sun' that night, regardless of his bad voice he still managed to make them feel as bleak as on record. Now to acquire a vast knowledge of quantum mechanics and build a time device to actually witness early 80's period Swans...
  5. The Boredoms come across somewhere between ritual music and a psychedelic rave, so it wouldn't be hard to assume that the music is meant to create a sense of joy within the gathered mass in front of them, and perhaps to be even more presumptuous a sense of togetherness, this is without being privy to the band's innermost thoughts of course. Even I'm over analysing this now, they aren’t music for the mind, I guess it's an experience you either enjoy or don't.
  6. Fair enough, I may have been a tad bias due to his involvement with his previous band; it was good to hear some of those songs live. I'd recommend Swans, even if you didn't enjoy his live set. They ran the gamut between horribly slow grinding music (akin to early Godflesh, but less mechanical), to gothic post rock and folky compositions. Bleak as hell, but probably less likely to bore people me thinks.
  7. See I spoke to quite a few people last night who thought exactly the same, but, I really enjoyed a fair amount of Gira's set, at times he did drag a bit, but songs like 'She Lives' (my faviourite Swan's song) were excelent. A shame really, I don't think he was too suited to the line-up.
  8. Boregoravepartyyeahbore!!!! Yeah, that's all that's all which needs to be said I reckon...
  9. I've bought a pair of tribal dance shoes especialy for the occasion. Borenogonow!
  10. I truly hope this becomes a tumultuous bellow, one which no-one could deny. Om are pretty awesome.
  11. It's a tad worrying that he's pulled out of the Scandinavian dates... Although on the brighter side; Phillip Best has been doing Consumer Electronics shows in place of Whitehouse, so at least if they did pull out due to his injurys we may get a bit of compensation.
  12. Two artists I listen to a lot: Marsen Jules Lustmord (Dark Ambient, well, for the releases I've heard) Also, some Musique Concrte material may also be in line with ambient, but I'm not too sure on artists or pieces just now... Probably best to explore that one for yourself.
  13. I don't quite get it either, well I do... Giving credit where credit is due however; The Wickerman re-make was one of the best comedys I've seen for ages. Couldn't stop laughing all the way through.
  14. Is this a substantiated claim? I severely hope not...
  15. I think I just about hit the floor when I saw this one. I bet Varg's spinning in his jail cell right now.
  16. I'm presuming; call it hoping really, that tickets are still left for this extravaganza?
  17. Fuck it, here's to copyism: GAUZE!!! (had to say it again, threes are powerful afterall. ) Plus anything David mentioned are all awsome Japanese bands which are well worth anyone's time, G.I.S.M. also (beyond excellent punk) C.C.C.C., Nikudorei, Facialmess, Gerogerigegege, and Astro are other 'harsh' recommendations, check them out. Yeah???
  18. In response to both of the above, I was contorting the argument a tiny bit just to see if anyone actually believed that fan base should be the determining factor in an artist's decision to morph and explore new sounds. Personally all artists who create sound just to be in vogue should be burnt in a giant wicker man for all to see, but that's perhaps just me.
  19. (Excuse the outburst of joy) FUCKING YES!!!!!!! Best news since the Boredoms announcement, infact, better than that.
  20. In saying that, is it not sometimes a positive move when musicians/artists disregard their fan base and decide to explore territory which they have not yet done so, regardless of whether some die hard fans may become enraged due to lack of familiarity? Music or any form of artistic expression is by default self-indulgent, and really the sole concern of creating it should be whether or not you are pleased with it, and the direction in which it is heading.
  21. You! I'll trade my Bloodnok DVD(s) for a borrow of that D.S. release, or one of yer Mathew Bower releases, p.m. me for more slops and information, or G.G. will rise again. (Not necessarily a bad thing, but you get what I mean.) The two noise releases are total impulse buys, as I am already familiar with their recordings, but the others are just delayed purchases of bands I've been fond of for a while now, still... beyond amazing albums.
  22. Who needs discussion? Melt Banana bring the slops, live and on record. FACT!
  23. Boredoms - SuperRoots 8 Faust - S/T + So Far Neu! - Neu 2 The New Blockaders/Gosplan Trio - Sound Sketch for Raging Flames Blood Stereo - Little Creeper The Velvet Underground - White Light/White Heat
  24. Gutted I can't get along to this tonight. Hopefully will be able to come to the club night after work.
