  1. Red Sparowes - "At the Soundless Dawn" Neurosis - "The Eye of Every Storm" Turbonegro - "Retox" Tomahawk - "Anonymous" Sgt. Sunshine - "Black Hole"
  2. I'd snap off your hands if I had the cash...
  3. Cracking album; I loved this band when I was 14-15. From the moment I first heard "Screamager" I was in a love, it was the perfect mix of hooks and heavyness. In recent years Therapy? faded out of my listening habbits to the point where I actually now haven't listened to them in about a year, I'll always appreciate the impact that album had on me when I was younger though. I was so pissed off when I had to miss out on them playing in Aberdeen the last time around, grrr. I didn't bother with the Glasgow gig last year due to waning interest. Regarding their other material, I definitely prefer the 90's stuff. Troublegum is the obvious highlight for me but Nurse, Pleasure Death and Semi-Detached used to get regular spins. I never really got into their later stuff; I thought High Anxiety had a few good tunes but some pretty poor ones too, with NANE being much the same but with a higher bad/good ratio. OCFA bored me to tears. I might give this a spin later on nice one. What does everyone make of the Scopophobia DVD?
  4. Electric Wizard - "Dopethrone" Clutch - "Blast Tyrant" Mastodon - "Remission" Fu Manchu - "King of the Road" Corrosion of Conformity - "In The Arms of God" Reverend Bizarre - "In The Rectory..." High On Fire - "Blessed Black Wings" Kalas - "s/t" Municipal Waste - "Hazardous Mutation" Orange Goblin - "The Big Black" Sweet.
  5. Newcastle drew with the footballing super-power that is Carlisle United last night, and Joey Barton has shown his dedication to the club by taking on the time-honoured Newcastle United tradition of being injured. Fantastic.
  6. Add my name to that list Christ knows where he's been... maybe the footballing world's just latched onto the fact that as a manager, he is a big pile of bobbins. Has to be one of the most unemployable men in football. And to think we replaced Sir Bobby Robson with him, pffffft... Not so good stuff from the Dons last night
  7. Amdy Faye to Newcastle, tbh. Personally, I blame Graeme Souness =P.
  8. Trouble - "Simple Mind Condition" The Atomic Bitchwax - "Boxriff" Cephalic Carnage - "Xenosapien"
  9. Poor lexical choice acknowledged.
  10. Ahhhh Metallica, used to love 'em when I was a nipper. Eventually I turned into one of these annoying bastards who only likes the early stuff, and now I can't really listen to them at all (apart from a few songs on "Kill 'Em All" and "...And Justice For All"). I think there's a lot of thrash bands out there who are infinitely better. Not a St. Anger fan either I must say, there's just nothing whatsoever on that album that appeals to me, I find it unlistenable. Sorry... Was considering making the trip down to Wembley for nostalgia purposes (and I wouldn't mind seeing Mastodon again), but decided against it for financial reasons. Speaking of the new album, anyone else heard
  11. Ginge is looking particularly rough these days o_O. Dunno what's worse tbh, this or The Verve...
  12. Municipal Waste - "The Art of Partying" SSS - s/t Exodus - "Bonded By Blood" (old copy got scratched) Nebukadnezza - "Failure = Destruction EP" Warbringer - "One By One, The Wicked Fall" Artillery - "By Inheritance"
  13. I reckon it's a cracker... chaotic as fuck and the harmonica is bitchin', good job!
  14. Cracking choice. Priestess are nae bad either.
  15. I bought the CD, listened to it about 2-3 times and haven't gone back to it since. They're alright, but I agree that Withcraft piss on them
  16. Eh, think you've missed the point. That's exactly what I was getting at. I certainly hope so, aye . He's excellent at getting the best out of underachieving or mediocre players and backstage staff system and approach towards fitness and training is great. He's also great at working on a shoestring budget, which should hopefully see the end of high-profile trophey signings at Newcastle (Duff, Luque, and Owen to an extent). I don't see him ever Champions League level, but if he's back by the board I don't see any reason why he can't lift us towards regular European football. It's odd this, feeling positive about Newcastle United. I'm not sure if I really like it tbh, so used to doom and gloom :-D. Anyway, seeing as this is a signings thread after all, I'd like to see Leighton Baines and Tal Ben Haim at the Toon ASAP!
  17. Is it reasonable to expect Newcastle to become title challengers in the next twelve months though? I'd say not. Big Sam's got a massive task on his hands; several years of mismanagement have left us in a right bloody mess, that's not something that's going to change over the course of just one season. I'm a big fan of both signings tbh; Viduka is a class act and despite his age and alleged pie-munching antics he'll bring a lot to the team. He's as strong as a bull and great in the air (something we missed all season) and he's pretty handy with the ball at his feet too. Barton's a prick, aye, but in terms of goals and assists he is head and shoulders above any other Newcastle midfielder this season. They aren't going to win us the Premiership, but they will certainly help us towards a more realistic target for the season (UEFA cup spot). Now, time to do something about the defence... Get Craig Moore and Olivier Bernard in! You'll never look back...
  18. Good riddance, reckon he costs Aberdeen 5-10 points a season. Anyone but Soutar
  19. We had the same problem a couple of years ago in my last band. Basically we practised at our Drummer's place after school (it was the best place for us given we all lived in Ballater and Aboyne at the time, gutted) twice a week for about two years, and we never heard a word until a few months before we were all fucking off to uni. I think we were practising at like 5-6pm, nothing totally unreasonable, when suddenly our drummer's crazy neighbour (who we christened "Paddy," because he was Irish, how fucking clever were we?) thumped on the door and went on some crazy tirade. Anyway, eventually the neighbour in question agreed to let us practice between certain hours, which were pretty much the same hours we were practising anyway, no big deal. Eventually though he kept coming through and telling us that we were playing too long, even tho we only practised in between the bloody hours that he gave us... blah blah blah... long story short, it ended up giving us fuck all time to practice, and we were shit scared to challenge him at the time . Our drummer tried playing with pads but they sounded shite, so we ended up sneaking in a couple of practices when the dodgy neighbour wasn't around instead . Might a good idea to talk to your neighbour, but that really depends on how reasonable she is I guess. Good luck, I feel your pain.
  20. I hear Wigan are after Sibierski too . Chris Hutchings is a nutter... imagine Sibbers, Bramble AND Heskey in the same team, that's ace. Oh well, at least they've still got Zinedine Kilbane . I'm pretty pleased with Viduka myself tbh. Big Sam won't let him get lazy, and he's got a decent scoring record. Plus he'd be a cracking foil for Martins/Owen (which ever one stays); we've needed a big fucking tank up front for a while now.
  21. Mixed feelings. Not much difference between him and Parker in terms of ability but Joey will at least bring a little grit to the team. He's a bloody nutcase, but if Big Sam can tame Anelka and Diouf surely he can handle Joey Barton? I hope so.
  22. Nah, none this season unfortunately but I'll definitely be making a couple of trips down next season, hopefully the Tyne & Wear derby will be one of 'em.
  23. According to the press, aye. If he and Parker leave we could be very short in the CM position; Butt and Dyer would be our only recognised central midfielders which is far from ideal. Definitely a position we need to strengthen regardless of whether or not Parker/Emre/Dyer leave, but I'd rather go for a more creative option than Nolan.
  24. He'd cost quite a bit and I don't think he'd add a lot to our side; we've already got one midfielder with a lot of heart & passion but not much end product (Emre) and I don't think we really need another. For what it's worth, I've got a couple of mates who support Bolton and they both reckon he has been one of their least consistant performers this past season.
  25. My team (Newcastle) haven't signed anybody so far, but there's been plenty of speculation. It goes without saying that we need to rebuild our defence; the only decent players we've got at the back are Steven Taylor and Nobby Solano (who's getting on a bit). Would like to see Leighton Baines or Nicky Shorey, Sol Campbell, Tal Ben Haim coming in as well as couple of trademark "Big Sam" signings; cheap, relatively unknown foreign players who turn out to be better than most of our better known players. Wouldn't mind seeing Mark Viduka pulling on a Toon top either, he'd be a great foil for Owen/Martins, and Giles Barnes at Derby looks pretty tasty too. If Scott Parker ends up signing for West Ham I won't be too bothered, he was pretty attrocious last season, looked a shadow of his former self. Same goes for Damien Duff and Charles N'Zogbia, although I'm pretty confident that Allardyce can turn them around. Just hope we don't go anywhere near Curtis Davies (over-priced and not very good), Peter Crouch (over-priced), Darren Bent (over-priced, too similar to Martins and Owen) or some of the Bolton players we've been linked with (O'Brien, Diouf, Nolan).
