  1. The chorus is brilliant! Really catchy and bold. In general, it sounds very well crafted and each section of the song blends well into the next. Will keep an ear out for what the album is like.
  2. Streaming here for anyone who wants a preview: Listen to Noah & The Whale's 'Last Night On Earth' album on NME.COM | News | NME.COM I loved the last album and liking what I'm hearing of this.
  3. Chelsea defender Ashley Cole shoots student at club's training ground | Football | The Observer Good lord.
  4. My old band played with the Chapman Family a few years ago. Had a quick listen to a few of their songs off their upcoming album and sounds like they have developed a lot more as it was very squally with lots of feedback when we played with them. Sure that still exists with them mind you! Think I may check them out though.
  5. I played violin at school for a couple of years. Wasn't too keen on it, mainly due to a pushy teacher, but I'd be keen to see if I can still play. Got into playing the guitar through buying a cheap classical acoustic when I was 21 and then bought a Squier Strat to continue to learn on. I ended up being very sentimental with the strat and still have it. On top of this I own an Epiphone 335 and an Art and Lutherie acoustic. Started playing the bass when I was asked to play a one off gig in a band at my old work. Apparently in acquiring one I got mugged off by Moose so he can expect a kick in the vagina next time I see him! That said, this move got me into playing in bands and without it I would probably not have got as involved. Now play a Fender Jazz and considering adding another bass to the collection soon. So to answer the question...the violin.
  6. I did wonder with King of Limbs only being eight tracks long whether there would be a second release soon after. Or maybe they were just busy or skint and weren't able to practice enough. Has Capt Tom's put their prices up recently?! That's definitely the reason.
  7. I enjoyed it at first but it has really grown on me so loving it now. I kind of feel it is in two halves with the frantic rhythms they've been using a lot recently in the first half (I reckon These Are My Twisted Words would have fitted in seamlessly) and then the second half much more chilled and atmospheric. The last four songs are just stunning in my opinion and I'd like to hear a full album of similar tracks. With regards to extra releases I'd imagine it will be more along the lines of one offs or an EP.
  8. I've been to TitP plenty of times and always enjoyed it. Sure, it gets very boozy but the atmosphere is generally good and everyone seems to be there to have fun. With the numbers that attend there's bound to be a few dickheads but that would go for any festival. In fact the worst trouble I've ever seen at a festival was a massive ruck at Belladrum, which is very much a family festival. Will probably give T a miss this year though.
  9. I'm loving this song. I'm hoping they play a few gigs soon, doubt there will be any full tours but some shows would be good. A bit of speculation online of a follow up - Radiohead to release 'The King Of Limbs' follow-up soon? | News | NME.COM. Think the theories are clutching at straws but wouldn't put it passed them to have something else up their sleeves.
  10. The tunes are really good. The end of King of Doublespeak is excellent, particularly when the ebow guitar starts and builds up thereafter. The only thing for me would be a production thing, but even then it isn't anything major. I just didn't feel the acoustic guitar and the vocals blended as well as they could have. I think it was the guitar as I found it quite bright and clean whereas the vocals worked quite well with the reverb. Otherwise, a very good effort and I'll certainly look out for more!

  12. I'm very much a CD person so this is a great shame, hopefully they can keep going. I like owning a CD, having the sleevenotes and adding to a collection. I download on occasions but I'd rather have a rake around in One Up and if I can't find what I'm after there will turn to Amazon for a 2nd hand bargain.
  13. Gave it a couple of listens now. Found the first half to be typically Radiohead in terms of the rhythms. The second half of the album is absolutely stunning, very atmospheric and lots of reverb. Overall the highlights for me are Lotus Flower, Codex and Give Up The Ghost. Phil Selway and Colin Greenwood really have become influential in the band's overall sound. The drumming in particular is very distinctive across the last few albums now.
  14. I was going to post something similar. I liked Jimmy when he was at the Dons and thought the stick he got at times was totally uncalled for. The cup games were downright embarrassing at times but as a whole he gave us much needed stability and I reckon that needed to be appreciated a lot more. I thought he would have found a job easily enough when he left Aberdeen but obviously not. Hope he does well at County but would like to see him move on to manage at a higher level.
  15. Fuck being at work...FUCK! I will be downloading the shit out of this when I get home. Top 5 tracks: Paranoid Android Let Down Just There There Street Spirit Special mentions to Idioteque, House of Cards and Fake Plastic Trees. The above may change as of tonight.
  16. An Eintracht Frankfurt celebration known as the earthquake effect. 40 seconds in explains why.
  17. I loved the Harry Patch song, more of a Thom and Jonny effort than Radiohead but a cracker nonetheless. I get the impression In Rainbows/These Are My Twisted Words is kind of where they are at soundwise so I guess why I'm expecting King of Limbs to sound similar. However, I felt In Rainbows was a natural progression from Hail to the Thief just like Amnesiac was to Kid A so maybe time for a different direction. To be honest, it could sound like farts and I'd still like it.
  18. Not long now!! I'm quite enjoying not knowing what the album will sound like. I'm expecting it to be a progression from In Rainbows but it would be a typical thing for them to do to throw a curveball and do something competely different. I've heard a couple new tracks over the last year or so on YouTube so will just have to see if they've made the album.
  19. I watched it as well and found it very enjoyable. I don't have the new album as yet but found quite a few of the songs instantly likeable. A few strange sounding songs but strange as in interesting rather than downright bizarre, may need a few listens though. Down by the Water was a good way to start the encore and Meet Ze Monsta sounded ace.
  20. I was having trouble as well but just got through to the site and it was smooth enough from then on. Roll on Saturday!
  21. I intend to pick this up, looking forward to giving it a listen. I recommend "Stories from the City, Stories from the Sea" if you're going through her back catalogue. Tremendous album.
  22. After the recent discovery of Graffiti Goggles I went over to the BNP page assuming someone would have defaced the shit out of it. Someone had changed the logo to read British National Party On, Wayne.
