  1. One of my pals actually tried something like this but got hung up on when he asked to speak to the girl's supervisor.
  2. PJ Harvey - Stories from the city, stories from the sea. Just been out running with this on and forgot how ace it is. And the Sultans of Ping FC.
  3. PM Andy Mulhern on here for Vocoustics.
  4. Ex-St Johnstone and Fulham midfielder Kieran McAnespie worked as a cameraman on Babestation after quitting full time football. Livin' the dream!
  5. My understanding of the arguement is including 25%-50% extra teams in the league won't bring in the equivalent sum of money. Effectively, this means a smaller share of the available cash for each team. Some of the other points regarding less games against the OF will also contribute to less revenue as well. From a financial point of view, it makes sense cutting down on the number of teams so there are bigger shares of cash for each team. Most of our teams are in so much debt they don't seem to be able to sustain any large drops in revenue. From a footballing point of view, everyone wants a larger league and more variety in who we play. Doesn't seem likely to happen though.
  6. I'd imagine there are a lot of losses made by chairmen if anything. They buy into clubs as they have money rather than buying clubs to make money. Directors who are employed at the clubs will no doubt be on a pretty penny mind you.
  7. A fight to the death would seem more appropriate.
  8. Says in the EE he can play as a centre half or left back but is seen as a potential future player so probably won't be used in the first team to begin with.
  9. I don't think the names that bad really. I compare Weather Barn to Dean Windass, it sounds a bit bizarre but is strangely memorable. Cracking news though lads, very impressive.
  10. I think the term you are looking for is "mathematically possible". Despite the opposition not being the best, it's a good start from Jack and Victor. I'm looking forward to getting the transfer window open to see who we get in and if anyone is shipped out.
  11. Craig Brown completes first signing | Club News | Club News | News and Features | Aberdeen First signing for Craig Brown. Not too sure how he fared in England but he always looked handy when he was at Livingston.
  12. He left a bowl of water and the window down a little bit. He's a good dad really.
  13. It's a sorry state of affairs when finances in the game dictate we can't provide what the paying customers (and the managers) would like in expanded the league. Our teams are so hand to mouth now it seems they can't survive without playing the Old Firm and squeezing TV deals for all they're worth. Setanta, that was a great idea. Owners of the clubs are successful business people aren't they? They certainly don't act like it. Quite a damning verdict on the SFA, just confirms what we all thought rather than revealing anything though. I just hope those in charge of our game sit up and take notice rather than protect their own positions.
  14. Who was the guy who played in the Championship a couple of years ago (maybe at present as well) who turned his back to the goal doing warmups before penalties? He'd wait till the ref blew his whistle before turning round for his run up. He's the exception to the rule, everyone else should just get the job done.
  15. I came on to post how much I hate his run up! I don't get all these tricks like staggering your run up or the like to put the goalie off. Pick your spot, head over the ball and put it in the net...job done. I'm old school though, I like players who go blood and guts on the pitch and celebrate a win with a bottle of milk.
  16. Radiohead will be the main one for me.
  17. Good lord. I liked the bit at the end where it states they will always back any Dons manager...just after they pick him apart and a long list of why they feel it is a shit appointment. I think Craig Brown is an excellent appointment. His enthusiasm for the game is exceptional and he sets his teams out to play to their strengths rather than setting out a formation and fitting the players into it. He played with a defensive lineup with Scotland and looked at hitting on the counter attack as this was where the strengths were with the players at his disposal. It's certainly a big job on his hands but I reckon an old fashioned manager who will go back to basics with the team is what we need at this time.
  18. Motherwell have asked the Dons not to make a managerial appointment until after we play them on the 18th at Pittodrie. Nice try.
  19. This just reminded me of the Lehman/Drogba pushing and sniper incident, that was a quality bit of handbags. Just heard a rumour that the odds on Craig Brown being the next Dons manager have just been cut. Apparently he is working without a contract at Motherwell so wouldn't cost anything. I fucking love football rumours!
  20. And DJ's first name is Dudley, which is also a bit of a let down.
  21. To be fair, he is probably suited to the role he has at the Dons. The guy can't run a restaurant but his job as Director of Football is based around the footballing side of the Dons so he hasn't got the final say in the financial side of things or the business structure at the club. In terms of the football side of Aberdeen, this is something he has been around his whole life and I think every football club would benefit from having someone with this background on their board. The main question for me would be is he the right person for the job? That may well be a no but I don't think his ability to run a chipper is that relevant to what he is doing now. For the love of fuck though, just don't give him responsibility for the pie stands. The Dons clearly need changes at board level along with bringing in a new manager though as the club and fans have never been further apart. It could be a change in personnel is the only way to do that but restructuring the business to better market the club to the fans might freshen things up again. Either that or just stick the ball in the net and pass to your own players.
  22. That debate on Football Focus really resonated with me. Great to hear the truth and honesty from everyone involved and getting to the bottom of a controversial issue. I mean, footballers who wear snoods...what the fuck is that all about.
