  1. I noticed that on the UX2 one of the 3 times I plugged it in. The guy I bought it off made it look so easy as well....i didn't even make notes lol
  2. oh right. Okay looks like I need to get some DAW and muck about with it. I just lose the rag though when I canna seem to work it. Same with multi fx. My mate used to get cracking sounds out of his....I just used about 3-4 presets...pretty shite really. Even my pedal board is shrinking to next to naff all. Oh well that's a different thread maybe.
  3. I have a Dr 8, or what ever it's called...a Boss drum maching. Got bass etc on it as well. I just can't use the damn things
  4. So are you saying that I don't need a BR8? The usb thing and the DAW will do the same thing?
  5. I think it's a Line6 UX2. Ah ok 3.5mm it is I was deailing with a 2.5 last month that's why i had it in my head. Right, I'll try downloading a DAW later. Will that aloow me to record a track at a time, or just mix the full '6 tracks mix' into stereo? thanks for the advice so far.
  6. Maybe the simplest way (2.5mm) route would be a start. Will I need a special sound crad for the laptop, or will the 'standard' one do. I have no idea what is in it though.
  7. Over priced tickets are one of my pet hates. But we set ourselves up for it really. If everyone just said to sellers that they should not do it, and not pay the seller the rip off price, then it might change. Can someone form R&B, II Music or any other shop please clarify something for me? When was the last time someone came in to their shop and looked at the MRP of something and said 'yeh dude, I'll pay 4xtimes that for it...just give me it now' I doubt that ever happens...so why do it with tickets. At the end of the day, after the gig date they are basically worthless (unless signed etc) even then it would take years to raise enough in value. Guitars/gear is different. Because it may gain in value as it gets older and classed as 'vintage'. Am I speaking shite here?.....I'm tired!
  8. Pretty steady in jobs now, but when I was a fish filleter.....always changing jobs at the drop of a hake. Remember one time I went over to my chums fish yard during my tea break. Found out he got paid 50p more an hour than me (A princely sume I might add) so I went back after my tea, picked up my gear and walked over the road to start with him The yard Supervisor was fizzing (she was a wee minger that dsrank special brew). She told me that she was going to tell the yard boss to not pay me what I was due and that I'd "niver work in s yard again". No probs....worth it for 50p mair I thought. 2 weeks later my old boss offered more money to come back....guess what....yep back I went. The wee Troll was about burstnig a gasket lol. when I think back it was all very unprofessinal (like my spelling). Now a days I can see why places get piussed off if folk dinna turn up for work. I reckon my last company lost 100k USD every year through no shows.
  9. Cheers. Do you mean the little 2.5mm 'mic' input on my laptop?
  10. BR8 and DR8 BOSS. Toshiba lap top, but when I was trying this at first it was on a PC....with calkwalk I think it was called. TBH I don't know if the laptop has program on it.....I had no idea it needed one. I though I just mixed the sounds from the BR8 straight on to it. The usb thing (line 6) had a wee mixer thing if I remember rightly...but nae idea where that went. All I am looking to do is make some tracks together for myself to keep etc.
  11. Looked of course, but still can't work it out. I was not 'belly aching' anymore than some of the others had been. Sorry I caused such a stir.. Saying that some folks on here think that a good 'cyber fecht' is what the forum needs lol
  12. Sorry Spock. I'll tell you what. If you know how to work recording stuff. I'll pay for a couple hours at Toms and buy you a pie and a pint if you show me how to work the stuff. How's that? I'll promise to not make any non funny comments during the session. Is that fair? Gee there's an olive breach if ever I saw one BTW. I don't think I've ever made 20 posts at the same time...funny or otherwise.
  13. Yeh you're of course all correct...it is my fault. I think my post was clear enough in my subject matter, and also in content. I was asking to be shown how to work the equipment. I have the manuals for the gear but still could not get any joy. Chris - I did reply to your post, and thanks for taking the time to reply. When I wrote the my post on this thread yesterday, there was 60 views on the 'help' thread...so it's not like there was no one lookng at the site. Interesting that my post on this thread has received several replies within a very short space of time. But then that was not askling for help. I travelled to many places around the world and the general concensus is that Aberdeen people are miserable sods....I disagree, as they are also grumpy sods as well lol. My post was not pointing fingers at anyone in particular on AM, just my general thoughts. So it now seems that I can't voice my thoughts without some sort of comeback. Colb - What a fooking useless reply that was. What has that got to do with anything? Maybe I missed theforum rule that said post must not have humour, sarcastic remarks....or 'nonsense' on them. I can only think that you are talking about my post about been an aging, half deaf guitarist. Well I am aging and and am half deaf. Maybe I should have said 'young budding guitarist'....now that would be nonsense. cheers Bri
  14. Hmmmmm Interesting thread and one I thought would not get locked because that would be backing the case put to the mods. I've been on several forums over the years. Nearly got thrown off one for very little to be honest. Two of the ones I visit most are totally different. Both about motorcycles, yet they differ a lot. One has it's mods and they keep on top of spam etc. However, they don't do much in the way of locking threads or deleting stuff. The only time I seem to remember a locked thread was when Maggie T died. Things got out of hand due to politics etc. Other than that it's basically a free for all. Yes even though this is the case, it's the best forum I've been on for bikes because the guys really try to help you out if you're stuck with something. Jesus there's even a welder guy on there and folk send him stuff to weld....he does it for fook all. They also try to go out on bike runs a meet up just for the sake of it....because they like bikes...IE theor hobby. The other forum is a bit more more of 'look what I have' or I've just added this to my bike'. Not the same sort of craique (is that the right spelling), but still handy for info etc. On the other hand, I've posted on here recently asking for advice and - up until this posting - have only got one reply. Not really a good response to my request for advice. The advice I was asking is something I'm sure dozens of folks on here could help with....but yet no offers. I think you can see the differences in the forums. One has a bunch of bull $hitting auld dodgers on it, that will help at the drop of a hat, or a tap of a keyboard. The other one full of 'music lovers' that don't seem to want to be part of a community. "Aberdeen Music" should tell you something...it's about music and people in or around Aberdeen (I'm sure there's other of course) yet they won't help out when they can. Therefore I can see the forum getting less and less used, as the users are doing it no favours..................not just the Mods. Although they are oot sometimes (that's just a wee joke) Sorry to rant on folks.
  15. Couldn't even begin to rate the stuff I've had/got...can't remember what I've had and sold/traded. Saying that I did learn a long time ago that it doesn't matter what I bought.....I still played the same old shite on it. I've been looking on fleabay for years now to see if I could buy some bags or boxes of talent, but alas I'm still waiting.
  16. I've always wanted to be one of guys on the side dancing and adding dodgy backing vocals....so if you're looking fo rthat...I'm yer man.....moooonnnnkkkkeyyyy man!
  17. Probably a bit of both. I managed to get one song if you could call it that on the BR8. Then the memory card was full. So I'm thinking I'll need to 'upload' every song on to the PC and then delete it on the recorder. I think it's possible to get larger cards, but it seems they are a pain to get hold of and format. Then there's getting different guitar sounds from the onboard fx...nightmare trying to work everything oot
  18. Okay...I've got to come clean here. Over the years I've had all sorts of stuff for recording. Software for PC's c/w those little boxes that you need to plug into to make it record etc. 4 track tape, 8 track tape (I actually got somethign down on that) and now a Boss 8 track thing (BR8 I think). Got a Boss drum machine as well. However, I can never get anything recorded, or more to the point put down on the PC. Can anyone help me. I could maybe take to the stuff to you along with my lap top. Or meet at Toms for a wee lesson etc. Can YOU help? Cheers Brian
  19. Bloody hell. I've just wasted more time reading this from the start again....on a PC with a very slow connection.................what a fooking waste of time. I really am a Time Waster. As most of you guys are only good at wasting time and not actual full time time wasters I think you should leave the band now....as the title states it's TIMEWASTERS that the guy needs. Right I'm away to twiddle my thumbs for a few hours.
  20. If the showman falls through I have a custom built board c/w with flight case. It is very large though. Quality kit
  21. Aye, that system would get you going nicely. However, if you already have an amp with your current set up you wouldn't need another one...all you would need is the turntable. Rega are really good and have been a classic for years and years. I'm not going to get in to the whole 'hi-fi' discussion just now as it's very subjective. However, I will say this...for my the only advantage of new technology is the ease of storing large collections of music, and sometimes it's free. But as mentioned above there is something special about sitting surrounded by records (except if you are very drunk) listening to them and looking at the 'decent' sized sleeve notes. I learned more off my albums covers than any cd cover etc. Warning though...vinyl is harder to look after etc. Also, it's great to build up separates, buying something better when you have the money and getting an awesome set up:)
