  1. I have a DW-8000 still in excellent condition that I don't use anymore. I bought a double pedal so the DW will just sit in its case unless I sell it 140 if anyone wants it
  2. That rings a bell, were they an indie style band tho? I could be wrong like. I do remember the article in the EE about a sponsor from pure or something
  3. Lol, Steal their songs and release them before they did?
  4. Good Point I doubt if this band I was in at the time would have been more successful but its along that lines. In the early 90's I was in a melodic rock band that had already established a good name for themselves before I joined. They won a battle of the bands thing at the Music hall and so on which was pretty good for a local band. I joined them and we got good reviews and press and headline gigs at the lemon tree regularly, we also got into the finals of some unsigned bands thing, but then grunge was at its peak and along came bands like oasis and the beginning of Britpop which changed everything . Not a lot of people were still listening to melodic rock after that and I was getting slated by my mates by playing in and listening to bands that weren't fashionable to be in or listen to. I remember actually in the early 90's there were a lot of really good Aberdeen bands that might have had a chance of being signed up and big if it wasn't for grunge and britpop arriving. I wish I could have formed a band in the 70's if I was a teenager in that era. Everything just seemed basic but raw back then where music was concerned and it wasn't about the way you looked or dressed as it is today with things like X factor and disposable pop stars. Also that was the birth of Rock, Metal and punk
  5. To be fair, If you were in a band with a reporter who was employed by the local paper wouldn't you take full advantage of its benefits? I remember one of the original bands I was in back in the 90's got a whole page review and pictures when we were playing at the Lemon Tree because we knew a reporter for the EE. I remember the days of Jim Gellatly (however you spell it) and he was pretty good at covering all the local scene, what happened to him anyway? Did he move on to other things? He had a fave local act that started as a metal band called inextremis and then changed their style to indie and he compared them to ocean colour scene at the time. I remember they got a sponsor by pure mens clothing shop and were regularly in his news section.
  6. Sad to say that I once trusted a friend to cut my hair with a pair of clippers. Wasn't a drunken incident but I thought it would save cash and I thought it would be evenly cut. I mean what could go wrong with a pair of clippers! I ended up having stubble on my head o_O Wasn't a good look. I also entrusted a hairdresser (trainee) I was seeing to bleach my hair blonde. Turned out orange and she cut it pretty squint as well
  7. So you gonna let us know the recent purchases? I went to denmark street when I was in London, back in 2007. I remember that a lot of the shops were pretty pricey. I found a few others (one of them was Turnkey but it was called something different then) and I got a sennheiser wireless system for a good price. Went into vintage and rare guitars (think that was on denmark street) and I ended up drooling over everything! There was a 60's marshall plexi there that I bet sounded awesome, I can't remember how much they were selling it for though. They also had an original 50's strat in that was so beautiful at the time.
  8. lol, I wish I could photoshop at work
  9. He doesn't look like a happy boy! Do you think that was after falling asleep at a party and his mates putting immac on his head?
  10. I was watching that song on youtube the other day, live at download 2009. Neil Schon's Guitar sound was immense on it (Think he uses Diezel). The new singer they have has a superb voice. Cracking tune!
  11. Hopefully this will be a dead cert. I was one of the people that got pretty excited about AVP and felt let down. Didn't like resurrection but I thought Alien 3 was ok. Aliens has to be the best one of the lot in my opinion. I remember when I was young my brother got out the first 2 on vid, I got to stay up late and watch but ended up with nightmares for weeks. I swear I couldn't sleep with the lights out at all (I was about 7 tho) I heard that Aliens was being made into a PS game called Colonial Marines, I saw the screenshots and they looked the biz but the rumours now are that the game was canned. Anyone heard anymore about that??
  12. Motley Crue - Kickstart my heart (awesome intro, can't say anymore than that) Dream Theater - Pull me Under (Brill crystal clear guitar sound and then its even better when the whole band comes in) Cast - Alright (Love that intro, Takes me back to 96/95 summertimes when Britpop was thriving) Thats all for now
  13. any tips on that to share? I hate shaving but it has to be done. I have tried tons of razors and creams but my skin burns like hell all the time I shave. Whats this wilkinson brush and lather thingy? Is it better for sensitive skin like?
  14. Whats TR-808? Take it thats a drum machine. I haven't seen very many drummers round Aberdeen to be honest so my opinion might be biased. Jerry Mcrobb was one of my faves. Tunk is incredible on his kit. He doesn't believe in flashy but is really solid and knows his stuff. Stuart Ritchie is awesome as well. Off topic as he is famous but been listening to Joey Jordison lately and he is spectacular
  15. Fucking Gypo's parked up in Dyce in the park where I walk my dog. They were here some time ago and destroyed the land. The council do sweet FA and its the tax payer that foots the bill for these sponging bastards. Really hacks me off and a park full of caravans and vans is a bloody eyesore. I had one of them round my door this morning as well asking if I needed my roof reslated or my driveway tarred, garden done and so on. The answer was no with a "Get ti Fuck off my property" The drum set is coming in from the garage and I will be keeping the car in it at nights ps I look forward to seeing the Evening Express front page with residents in shock headline regarding the Gypo's. Might get an interview myself if I call them about it, resulting in a pic with a stern looking moi and the caravans in the background.
  16. Hey women do that to us guys as well, we just don't complain about it
  17. All those Statistics are pretty intense like. Some shocking!
  18. lol, well I don't wanna sell everything cos maybe in a year or 2 I might go back to the guitar. I will probably sell a fair chunk though (I say that now but wait and see) I got a DW shell kit, but its probably their starting bracket range for DW. I didn't want to buy a beginners kit as I wanted to get something I will stick with as I get better. I don't want to keep upgrading. I want to buy decent hardware as well so I don't have to change it in future. Although when it comes to cymbals its maybe best to buy a beginners set
  19. Right now I am grasping the basics. I won't have time to play in bands if I get that good, at least for a few years anyway. I do want to get really good at this though. I am going to take proper lessons though
  20. That's an idea! How do you do that?
  21. Gave up Guitar and bands as I wasn't enjoying playing anymore and going to concentrate on other hobbies I have. The drums are a lot more fun to play so far and I have that same enthusiasm for learning as I do when I first picked a guitar up. I just bought a shell kit, and am gonna put it in my garage but I now need to start saving the cash for Hardware and Cymbals. Any drummers recommend what to get? There seems to be so many cymbals out there and sizes thats gonna stump me. Also Hardware. Whats all this double Brace malarky and that? and whats the tonal difference with different sizes of hi-hats? I don't even know what kind of style I am gonna learn! lol.
  22. Alow cost van rental in constitution street or have you already tried them?
