  1. Helmet are fucking awesome. However, I think this show is on the same day as Dillinger Escape Plan in Edinburgh, which I've already bought tickets for
  2. That's a sexy bass. It pinned down all the basslines on Contra's 'Explosive' EP. Rock!
  3. The best thing about his new album is that Henry Rollins appears on a track entitled 'I Can't Get Behind That'. It's awesome!
  4. I'm looking for a competent bass player to complete the line up of a new Edinburgh based hardcore punk band in the vein of Sick Of It All, The Hope Conspiracy, Black Flag, Give Up The Ghost, Bane etc... Dedication, experience and ability are essential - though you don't need to be a virtuoso - we're not fucking about. Practices are at least once a week. Recording and extensive gigging is planned. Please leave a message here or pm me. Thank you.
  5. The Converge is fucking awesome. I don't understand how a Converge fan could dislike it, hence I'm a little confused about all the dodgy reviews I heard prior to it's release.
  6. I went to the Edinburgh show so it might have been a different story where you are. The first band were a group from Leeds called D-Rail.
  7. Hmmm. Stood side by side next to Norma Jean a few months back they came off the poorer band by a country mile. I find them a bit hit and miss. First time I saw em I thought they were ace but they've disappointed me since.
  8. 'We Are The Romans' by Botch is a landmark release. They were a truely great band but , in my opinion, no group comes close to Drowningman. These Arms Are Snakes are playing Glasgow soon (or have done recently). Barfly or Sleazys I think. Sid's band End Of Everything were apparently supporting.
  9. Pah. James never knew how to play guitar in the first place. He had you all fooled! Now that he hasn't got that sexy bass guy from WBL pulling the strings, he's falling apart!! Ahem...
  10. True, if they're not ripping themselves off on the new album then it's someone else (be it Jawbreaker or Bryan Adams). But as long as the songs rock (which they do in my opinion) then It's OK by me. I wouldn't necessarily apply the same principle to any old band though. For some reason, Green Day manage to get away with it.
  11. The best album is Ignoring The Guidelines. All their stuff is amazing though...
  12. This is my guitar: It's lovely. You can see the specs here
  13. So you haven't seen them since the new album came out? The true worth of a band is ONLY measured in a live senario. How can you have such a strong and final opinion on a band you've never experienced? Fair enough, you can say whether you like a band or not after listening to their record that's only really half the picture. Go and see them, THEN make up your mind.
  14. Raised Fist (Burning Heart) Embrace Today (Deathwish) Champion (Join The Team Player)
  15. Drowningman, simply cos they're the greatest band that ever were. I'd also love to see Queen, Black Flag circa 1982, Soundgarden and Michael Jackson on the Thriller tour.
  16. Tickets aren't on sale yet as far as I know. Apparently Slapshot are also on this bill! FUCKING SLAPSHOT!! Like you're ever gonna get another chance to see that band! Anybody know anything about Ramallah?
  17. I really liked Warning but I think this album's an improvement. It reminds me of Insomniac in places. I like the whole 'Punk Rock Opera' idea behind it. Some of the songs sound like they're rehashing old material and some sound like they're stealing from other people (She's A Rebel is the most blatant rip-off of Boxcar by Jawbreaker I've ever heard), but the tunes still rock and that's the main thing.
  18. I rather enjoyed The Locust performance. Pissed all over From Autumn To Ashes, My Chemical Romance and Further Seems Forever, who all need a good kick in the teeth. Terror and Champion are my personal highlights and Hopesfall and DEP are both ace as well...
  19. Great band. I really like The Rising Tide although nothing touches Diary...
  20. That split is awesome. God Deciding is one of my fave HWM tracks and I do love a bit of Alkaline Trio...
  21. Check out Forever And Counting. I reckon that's their best album so far...
  22. 'The New What Next' is the brand new album from the finest punk rock band of the last decade and hits the stores on September 20th. BUY! BUY! BUY!
