I read it a while ago. It was funny to begin with, but too quick to spiral into sub-Patrick Bateman-isms. As for some history-related light relief I would recommend The Exploits and Adventures of Brigadier Gerard. It's funny, thrilling and gives you an education in the Napoleonic wars, but most importantly it has a beautiful cover!

They pretty much sound exactly like the Field Mice, maybe a little more fuzzy.

I also remember hearing this rumour now.

I watched the Woody Allen film Sleeper last night. It was the usual fare of neurotic humour with a healthy dollop of slapstick on the side, but enjoyable none the less.

I once had the pleasure of being in team called "I'll take a shot in the mouth if it means winning this pub quiz".The quizmaster thought we meant from a gun, and said "Oooh that could mean something else where I'm from!"

They most certainly did! I think they will go down really well. There were about 6 or 7 of them I think, and they had a particularly excellent brass section. I think they'll go down well up here.

There's a song playing on the BBC's advert for the six nationas (or it could be some other rugby doo-dah I wasn't paying attention) which I really recognise, but can't quite work out what it is. I think I maybe own it, although I don't like it. Anyone heard it cos it's doing my nut in?

I've not felt too compelled to buy it given there's not actually a lot of Morrissey solo i really like, but I do rather like the single.

I'd rather see a soul music impersonator win awards than a bunch of heads-down-eyes-on-the-effects-pedals post-rockers..

I can't really then because my own opinion is mixed. The March of the Zapotec disc is the one with a Mexican funeral band (or some such thing) and it's good but there is no revelatory difference in sound between Mexican and Balkan brass bands by the sound of it. The second disc is kind of dull really. I've read that the electro-pop sound of it was influenced by the Magnetic Fields, but the songs aren't nearly as memorable or nuanced as TMF. That said I've only listened to it once. Right now I would say it is a decent buy, but all in all a bit inessential.

Word is that The Vesuvius Club is soon to be made into a BBC TV show with Gatiss himself as Lucifer Box. I thought he was supposed to be handsome! I finished The Master and Margarita graphic novel. I wish I'd read the actual novel first. I'm now reading The Riddle of the Sands by Erskine Childers, from the Penguin classics boy own adventures series. I'm gonna buy them all of only to sit and stroke their beautiful covers.

I think I read something on How To Swim's myspace about how you'll never see the same line-up of them twice live...so maybe they'll be a one-piece for Tunnels!

It was exactly what I expected:shouty American accented vocals, indebted to a pretty standard american indie rock sound. Batman is a pretty catchy song though and the Tom Hanks one isn't without it's charm.

I'll see How To Swim supporting Wild Beasts in Glasgow at the end of this month, so I'll be coming down to this if they impress me.

I was an unappreciative 14 (maybe 15) year old too...and now I'm an unappreciative 22 year old.

Considering selling any of the games seperately.
