  1. APB + support Saturday 30th December 12 (8 concessions and Regulars) Doors open: 9pm Support: 9.30pm Quite possibly the best band ever to emerge from the northeast, APB definitely have the most interesting story to tell. The Ellon trio released a series of funky, sparse and angular singles throughout the early 80s earning several Peel and Radio 1 sessions and what seemed like weekly appearances on Grampian TV. The records were picked up by club and college radio DJs in the US, particularly in and around New York, earning the band a large cult following in the area. Many trips to play live there followed, expanding their audience further, earning slots with James Brown and The Clash (which neatly sums up their sound) their own legendary headline shows at The Ritz and a number one record on the Billboard dance chart, 1985s singles compilation Something To Believe In cemented their appeal and, until its re-release this year, was fetching up to $450 on ebay and Amazon. After fizzling out towards the end of the decade the band have so far never reformed despite many offers. They have now at long last reunited for 4 shows in their East Coast heartland in the US and we are delighted theyve also agreed to perform this historic homecoming show. 6. City Sinners - A Tribute To Gram Parsons Southpaw Friday 1st December 7.50 (5 concessions & Regulars) Doors open: 9pm Show starts: 9.30pm Gram Parsons virtually invented country rock when he joined The Byrds in 1968 and hijacked their musical direction. His death in 1973, at the tender age of 26, cut short a life during which he had been instrumental in breaking down the barriers between country, soul and rock music. City Sinners are fronted by singer-songwriter John Hinshelwood and contain some of Scotlands finest country and Americana musicians. Tonights set will include songs from Parsons time with The Byrds, the Flying Burrito Brothers and his seminal solo albums, GP and Grievous Angel. With support from Perth country rockers Southpaw, this is a night no fan of progressive country or Americana should miss. 8. The Undertones + TV21 Saturday 2nd December 15 (10 concessions & Regulars) Doors open: 9pm Show starts: 9.30pm One of the greatest of all bands to emerge from the punk era, The Undertones reconvened in their native Derry in 1999 with the electric onstage presence of Paul McLoone replacing original singer Feargal Sharkey. The shows were as fresh and exhilarating as in 1979 with new material and classics like Teenage Kicks, Wednesday Week, Jimmy, Jimmy, My Perfect Cousin and Here Comes The Summer being rapturously received. The band now play selective shows worldwide, attracting old fans, and many younger ones intrigued by their influence on new pop/punk bands such as Sum41, The Hives and Green Day. Last seen in Aberdeen opening for The Rolling Stones at The Capitol in 1982, the very recently reformed TV21 are reunited with The Undertones after supporting them on the Positive Touch tour in 1981. 11. There's no longer a support - will post the onstage time when I have it.

  14. I've seen a few posters about (very funny they are too), but a lot less press than I would have expected given the final tour aspect. Suprised about the tickets sales too - someone had led me to believe it was sold out. Perhaps See Tickets don't have the entire allocation? I'm sure it'll get a good walk up and be a damn good show.
  15. Make that 10 for the combined concessions / Regulars price. Thanks french disko - this is a shining example of the power of web forums to make visible, practical change for the better.
  16. Aye it's a good point though, and wasn't our intention - charidee or nae - to pay more for both don't make no God-damn sense. I'll speak with the powers that be and try and rectify it asap.
  17. I'd love to see that - Isobel Campbell did it when she played here earlier this year, but I'm sure Mike's would be much sexier - phwoar!
  18. Just got the ok to put on-sale.... Larrikin Love plus support Sunday 4th February Doors Open 8pm Support 8.30pm 9 (6 concessions and Regulars) The perfect musical backdrop for Edward Larrikins literary tales of romance and whimsy is created by Micko Larrikin (guitar), Alfie Ambrose (bass) and Coz Kerrigan (drums) who achieve the considerable feat of making three men with three instruments sound like a raggedly riotous orchestra, for whom no musical discipline seems to be a step too far. In fact, the best testament to the originality and vitality of the wonderful, jaunty, stomping racket created is that it is quite impossible to define with a single word or phrase. www.larrikinlove.co.uk
  19. This year, weve decided to extend our usual fun-filled tribute event in memory of former Lemon Tree DJ and opinionated scenester John Gillan to two very different though strongly connected nights. We celebrate three iconic artists who passed away in 2006 - Ivor Cutler (part 1 of the weekender take place on Friday the 12th Jan - see separate posting), Arthur Lee and Syd Barrett - all favourites of Johns and who embodied his love of eccentric and highly individual artists. John was instrumental in bringing Ivor Cutler to Aberdeen for two unforgettable performances in the mid '90s as part of the Alternative Festival while Arthur Lee played twice to a rapturous reception at The Lemon Tree in recent years. Like John, Ivor, Arthur and Syd will be sadly missed. Two of the most influential and distinctive songwriters of the 1960s, Arthur Lee and Syd Barrett were at the heart of the psychedelic movement as the creative forces behind The Pink Floyd and Love respectively. A huge cast of acolytes gather to celebrate the collective genius of these crazy diamonds in both acoustic and full-on rocking modes. All ticket income from these shows goes directly to Roxburghe House hospice where John was cared for towards the end of his life.

  21. My humble apologies Alan - there's an awful lot to fit in with this gig though - even the title's a hell of a mouthful - we've had to make the tickets the size of one of those huge cheques that pools winners get. Looks like a cracking night though.
