  1. I'm going to ask why, but if it's because of some other Hip Hop gig that's on the same night I'll regret it... eh, why?
  2. Tune in to Radio Scotland at 2.30 for a preview.
  3. James is playing a session on Radio Scotland's Tom Morton Show today around 2.30pm - http://www.bbc.co.uk/scotland/radioscotland/view/show.shtml?tom
  4. Support is no longer Iain Archer (sorry Dizzy Storm). it's now Pete McConville (aka Lazy Sheepdog) - www.myspace.com/lazysheepdog
  5. Gentleman's Pistol were excellent, like a much heavier Kings of Leon - good song titles too, and I'm pretty sure their bassist is our first ever lunchtime guest to have done a Steve Harris "aiming" of his bass at the audience. Only caught one of Josiah's songs, but it was pretty damn good too.

  10. Aye, very enjoyable - and the good natured "stage invastion" for a moonstomp definately added to the occasion - nice one Kevy.
  11. Infinite Livez was amazing - everything that Kool Keith should have been, but wasn't, at Triptych. Surreal, flash but geeky at the same time - innovative tracks that were at times cacophonous and other times instantly catchy, and most of all funny - dedictating a song called Zombie Lover to "anyone who's fucked a Zombie" then doning a Zombie mask and grabbing a male member of the audience whilst making Zombie "love" noises isn't your average Hip Hop act. To even have a song call "The Lactating Man" has got to be better than "Pish". And that's before I get to the fact that his DJ, DJ Dinosaur, wore a dinosaur costume so bad that it made Barney look cool and menacing. Superb, one of the best shows I've seen this year - a modern day Screaming Jay Hawkins.
  12. I take it back - anyone who can find positives about the pillars can't be described as a moaner, and that's an impressive collection of tickets you've got there. Not much we can do about the pillars I'm afraid (short of moving elsewhere), nor the smell of the brochure (which I actually like - fresh print - ink and chemicals - mmm,MMM). Perhaps your mastermind subject should be racy lesbian fantasys Biz - some pretty risque stuff you've been posting there - I reckon Billy Bragg would be black afronted. I hope my Mum doesn't read this thread.
  13. Ha ha Fast & Dirty is a dance workshop at Citymoves - you may be both of those adjectives Biz, but I doubt you took part in the dance workshop were you? You could go and rattle out some paradiddles to keep them in rhythm next time if you want to get involved. Anyway if you are interested in going the two for one deal will be slightly cheaper than the 5 anyway (9 for two)
  14. Dance Live!: Rosie Kay Dance Company Asylum and other stories (Patisserie, Honey You're a Pig & 22) Saturday 14th October 9 (6 concessions and Regulars) (5 Fast and Dirty participants) or two tickets for the price of one by quoting "Aberdeen Music Forum Deal" Doors open: 7pm Show starts: 7.30pm Rosie Kay Dance Company present a mixed bill of two solos and a duet, and the dance film 22 (a collaboration with directors Ravi Depress and Michael Baig-Clifford). Witty, intelligent and incredibly athletic choreography that is fluid and inspired. An entertaining and thought provoking evening of stunning dance. Patisserie contains music composed especially for the show by Ian Wallman, Alek Jarker and Annie Mahtani, as well as Bach, Mogwai, Aphex Twin & Gabriel Yared. we all live in hope of spotting a promising young talent headed towards the big time- the performance honours go to Rosie Kay The Times "Two dancers progressively shed their defences and their belongings, in choreography that moves from combative awkwardness to tough, wry accommodation. Issues of exile and belonging inform the piece, but the focus is on the sharp, expressive virtuosity of its two performers. "Judith Mackrell, The Guardian www.rosiekay.co.uk
  15. Moaning is certainly one thing you're an expert on Biz
  16. Yeah, the bi-monthly Magazine is our biggest marketing tool and has a around a two week turn around and delivery time, so often shows are still in the tbc bracket when we send to the printers.

  19. Shoormal Wednesday 18th October 9 (6 concessions and Regulars) Doors open: 7.30pm Show starts: 8pm Shoormal - Shetland dialect for 'where the shore meets the sea' - are all native to Shetland and first emerged as a band at the Shetland Folk Festival in 1998. Unusually for the islands, the bands strength lies in outstanding songwriting and singing with the Shetland dialect well to the fore rather than the more favoured fiddle-driven instrumental music we know and love. Singers Freda Leask, Joyce McDill and Donna Smith joined forces in 1997 to create a three-part harmony sound that has become a Shoormal trademark and over the years have been joined by Trevor Smith (guitar), Gregg Arthur (piano and accordion), Jonathan Ritch (bass), Archer Kemp (drums) and Gordon Tulloch (guitar). Shoormals music blends traditional and contemporary styles in an acoustic setting with Joyce McDill and Freda Leask writing much of the bands material. This is a very rare opportunity to see this very talented outfit on the mainland. www.shoormal.com Check out the Shetland Times review of the band new album Turning Tide here - http://www.shetlandtoday.co.uk/shetlandtimes/content_details.asp?ContentID=20421
