  1. Line up info I have for Tupelo Town Assembly below - do you know is that still correct TwoJoe? Featuring Phil Rae from Lorenzo Snow Collective, Amy Sawers, Jim Ewen and Andy Stephen from Staccato Set
  2. Elvisness feat King Voodoo+The Epics +Baby Karma+Tupelo Town Assembly+Bill Ely & the Catnips+Finniston+Kill Baby...Kill+Emma Foreman+Dave Dixon (compere) Saturday 19th August 10 (6.75 concessions and Regulars) Doors open: 8.30pm Show starts: 9pm Yet another night to remember is in prospect for all music fans and not just loyal subjects of The King as we present our annual celebration of the music of the man who invented rock'n'roll. It's a typically eclectic Elvisness lineup with perennial rockabilly rebels King Voodoo delivering their superb appreciation alongside classic rock'n'roll from The Epics, acoustic sweetness from Finniston, and something a little more left-field from Baby Karma, Kill Baby...Kill and Bill Ely and the Catnips.
  3. Yes there will. There will be two stages set up in the Lemon Tree for this show to allow quick change-overs between acts.
  4. Duffel's Coat will no longer be playing unfortunately. Hopefully there'll be a replacement announced soon.
  5. Bert Jansch's return to Aberdeen is definately one not to miss - Bert missed his annual show at The Lemon Tree due to ill health last year. In the interim the former Pentangle member has picked up a Mojo magazine life-time achievement award. At the ceremony Elton John revealed that he and song-writing partner Bernie Taupin were big fans (add him to Jimmy Page and Neil Young and you start to realise just how influential Bert has been). Bert also has a new album, entitled Black Swan set for release. It has been produced by Noah Georgson (Joanna Newsom, Devendra Banhart) and features guest appearances by Beth Orton, and future Lemon Tree guests Devendra Banhart and Otto Hauser (Vetiver). Bert Jansch Wednesday 23rd August at The Lemon Tree 13.50 (9 concessions and Regulars) Doors open: 7.30pm Show starts: 8pm Box office: 01224 642230 Bert Jansch's ground-breaking guitar playing, deeply affecting songwriting and dark, passionate voice have held audiences spellbound since the mid-sixties. Famously admired by Jimmy Page, Neil Young and Nick Drake, more recently young luminaries Noel Gallagher, Jarvis Cocker, Bernard Butler and Johnny Marr have paid homage to this unassuming but intensely revered master. "As much of a great guitar player as Jimi (Hendrix) was, Bert Jansch is the same thing for acoustic guitar...and my favourite." Neil Young

  7. writer Eric Bogle plays The Lemon Tree this Wednesday the 16th of August. Eric Also wrote Green Fields of France - and as well as The Pogues and The Fureys his songs have been covered by Joan Baez, Billy Bragg and Donovan Eric Bogle and John Munro Wednesday 16th August 13.50 (9 concessions and Regulars) Doors open: 7pm Show starts: 8pm Eric Bogle is roundish, shortish, baldish, fiftyish and Scottish. An Australian resident for 35 years, and an Australian citizen since 1982, he is an internationally known and respected singer/songwriter and has been taking his music around the world for the last 25 years or so, in spite of warnings to "stop it or you'll go blind" Eric is a warm and engaging stage performer, and his songs have the knack of getting straight to the heart of the matter with intelligent and well-crafted lyrics. John Munro was born in Glasgow, Scotland in 1947 and escaped to Australia at the age of 18. Having had a flirtation with Folk Music in his home country John soon headed for the local folk haunts. He admits to being a founder member of Country Express (born 1969) and Colcannon (born 1988) and, more through luck than talent, has worked since 1980 as accompanist to Eric Bogle. ericbogle.net

Born in Zoetermeer, Holland at the dawn of the eighties he lived across the globe in exotic loactions such as Quatar, Brunei and Oman. A trend he continued when he finally settled in the Scottish highlands in sunny Aberdeen... Nils is a man in love with music, obsessively passionate about melodies, harmonies and rhythms. 13. MacFloyd Friday 11th August @ The Lemon Tree 12 (8 concessions and Regulars) Doors open:9pm Show starts:10pm MacFloyd is quite simply the best Pink Floyd band in the UK. No other band can touch them for the accuracy and atmosphere of a PF concert. From the moment you hear and feel the first heartbeat as it pumps out of the speakers, until the last note, two and a half hours later, you will be transported back to the feeling you had when you first heard Dark Side of the Moon, Wish You Were Here, Animals or The Wall. Close your eyes and you could be at Earls Court in 1980 or The Rainbow Theatre in 1972. www.macfloyd.co.uk
  14. Sorry for the rather odd thread title - only Scottish connection with the Floyd I could think of - even then it's probably misquoted, but if it got your attention then you might be intertested in MacFloyd Friday 11th August @ The Lemon Tree 12 (8 concessions and Regulars) Doors open:9pm Show starts:10pm MacFloyd is quite simply the best Pink Floyd band in the UK.
