Cheers for giving Black Matter the relevant info Reject Monkey. Black Matter - if you are getting in touch re possible support for the gig, the guy to contact is Andy Shearer - music@lemontree.org - though please bear in mind that there's a good chance of there being a tour support already in place for The Stranglers gig.

The Lorelei - 1st July @The Lemon Tree

Saw Eric Euan at Drummonds last Friday - first time I'd seen them in a couple of years and highly entertaining it was too - to the point where myself and someone I'd never met before called Al spontaneously broke into an air-guitar solo face off ................................he won. -
As some you probably saw on their myspace the new track "Road of Bones", will be available at the gig as part of an exclusive 500 pressing. I quote from their blog Hope you like our new song. It's called 'Road of Bones' and we'll be selling it as a limited-edition single along with two live bootlegged tracks ( 'Ludwig Van Ramone' and 'Of You' ) only on gigs! So if you want one be quick cos we're only printing 500 and get down to one of our nights in July.

Band for the night is Dennis Rollins - trombone and electronics (and apparently he can play the trombone and human beat-box at the same time!) Johnny Heyes - guitars Jay Phelps - trumpet and fugel-horn Zoltan Dekany - acoustic bass Alex Morgan - keys Pete Matthew - drums

Nevermind - any ideas which Elvis numbers you'd have done if you could have made it? Whoops, just noticed we had "Billy Ely and the Catnips" - a bit over-familiar - think I've caught it in time to correct the brochure.
-
I think a few eyebrows might be raised when Bill Ely and the Catnips take to the stage Elvisness Saturday 19 August Tickets £10 (£6.75 concessions & regulars) Doors Open: 8.30pm Show Starts: 9pm featuring King Voodoo The Epics Baby Karma Bill Ely and the Catnips Finniston Simon Gall plus more to be announced Yet another night to remember is in prospect for all music fans and not just loyal subjects of The King as we present our annual celebration of the music of the man who invented rock'n'roll. It's a typically eclectic Elvisness lineup with perennial rockabilly rebels King Voodoo delivering their superb appreciation alongside classic rock'n'roll from The Epics, acoustic sweetness from Finniston, the instrumental jazz vibes of Simon Gall and something a little more left-field from Baby Karma and Bill Ely and the Catnips

Strobing Goat, and the ticket price should have been 10/6.75

Wishbone Ash plus support Saturday 28th October The Lemon Tree Doors Open 9pm/Support 9.30pm 15 (10 concessions and Regulars) Box Office: 01224 642230 Still selling out venues after 36 years on the road and boasting a staggering array of albums to their name, the band who gave us the multi-million selling Argus make their long overdue Lemon Tree debut. They'll be playing songs from their new album Clan Destiny as well as classics such as The King Will Come, Throw Down The Sword and Blowin' Free. Formed in October 1969, Wishbone Ash garnered notice in the early days for a unique blend of blues, jazz and English folk. But it was the way the guitars played melodic leads together that would become Wishbone Ash's trademark, inspiring such bands as Thin Lizzy, Judas Priest and Iron Maiden. Throughout the years, many notable musicians have contributed their talents to the band, and the current line-up comprises founding guitarist Andy Powell, bassist Bob Skeat, drummer Ray Weston and Finnish guitarist Muddy Manninen. www.wishboneash.com

Guy Davis+Spider MacKenzie & Steve Crawford
Jamie replied to Jamie's topic in Gigs & Event Announcements
Mojo gave Guy's Skunkmello album 3 out of 5 and described it as a "variety show drawn from black history...No one puts together a tangier salad from the mixed greens of African-American music quite like Guy Davis" -

Aye, well it wasn't meant to be taken too seriously - with over 400 events per year to promote, and only about 3/5 of them gigs I don't have as much time to spend on aberdeen-music as i'd like. Anyway we are digressing wildly from the Stranglers - PM me if you want a breakdown of how my hours are spent or to discuss a week's job swap (joke).

About time I got my finger out.
