  1. You beat me too it there, plus a couple of players who were on bookings - Ferguson, Kenny Miller - shirking tackles as if their being available for the Italy game was more important than getting a result v Georgia (irritating to watch but didn't really affect the result), and recalling Fletcher when he obviously wasn't ready. Don't get me wrong re the winning the group. I'm not saying that we will walk the group, or can afford to be complacent by any means ( I think it will be tough, and that Macedonia are a real obstacle - didn't they beat Croatia a week ago?), just that we can go into the group with the objective of winning it as plan A, and 2nd place as plan B, rather than thinking we are only capable of finishing 2nd to Holland.
  2. Ah! That makes things a bit more even then. And yeah, you are right Ross, no reason why we can't be looking to win the group.
  3. Aye not bad. One thing is worrying me a bit, (tho I'm getting ahead of myself and perhaps have it wrong anyway). Given we in the only 5 team group, doesn't that mean the 2nd place team from our group is most likely to miss out on the 8 2nd place play-off places? - i.e. the teams from the other groups can achieve a maximum of 30 points, but our group can only achieve a maximum of 24 points. Like I say perhaps I have it wrong, and even if not I suppose we should worry about that possibility when and if it happens.
  4. Cheers min. It was more the further down pots I was after though. Have seen this for 1 & 2 (from the Guardian) - Likely top seeds: Italy, Spain, Germany, Czech Republic, France, Portugal, Netherlands, Croatia and Greece. Likely second pool: England, Romania, Scotland, Turkey, Bulgaria, Russia, Poland, Sweden and Israel.
  5. Does anyone know the pots (provisional?) for the world cup draw. Don't think they have been finalised yet - have seen provisionals for pots 1 and 2 but no further down.
  6. I agree New Gold Dream is a fantastic album. Someone Somewhere in Summertime is majestic. J & MC Primal Scream (last album was just going through the motions though) KLF deserve a mention despite not really being a band, and only half Scottish.

  8. My favourite in Aberdeen and I hope it's still there, was along Carden Terrace, toward Queens Cross, which simply said Cock n balls Then there was the one on the bridge over to Froghall - CELITC
  9. Do you reckon there's any chance he'll do national dates?
  10. Love the Scoobius & Le Sac Thou Shalt... thing. I won't be in Aberdeen, but hope this gets a great turn out. Good see a decent club night at the Lemon Tree again.
  11. I'll give it a go too, though it won't be possible in the office, but you can only do what's in your own control.
  12. Agreed. And I'd also agree with Calum's sentiments about Italian footy, and add that their tactics on the day were superb - as much as McLeish said before the game that it was imperative we didn't concede first, it was obvious our players weren't prepared for them coming at us like that from the first whistle, and once we were 1 down it really was mission impossible. That's not a criticism of McLeish, just acknowledgment that on the day Donadoni out-foxed us. Given that it's testament to the spirit of the team and the improved quality of player we have that we at least managed to make a game of it - I've been replaying McFadden's chance over and over since, if only....
  13. Haven't seen the news on A & L (tho I did hear their name mentioned during the NR crisis) - got any links?
  14. That's how Milosevic started. PS That icon is supposed to be finger waving, not giving you the bird.
  15. Aye, fair dos, can't argue with that. Scottish footy achievements are few and far between (here's hoping for another one tomorrow!), I don't think there's any harm in marking them now and again, particularly in the kind of off-beat way that a Mondragon break-beat electro Gothenburg song would be (though I agree with Jake that sometimes it gets a bit over the top and overshadows what is going on at present).-
  16. They made it to the semis of the European Cup though didn't they, which is pretty much on a "par" as an achievement with with winning the inferior Cup Winners Cup. Yeah, yeah, I know Aberdeen won the Super Cup which all the big teams prioritise as their major goal.
  17. I know, I think loads of footy chants have bizarre origins like that. Without wanting to be pedantic though I reckon the similarity between the Dons chant and the clubbers / gig chant is more in the lyrics than the tune, but rather than bore people on here anymore about it we can settle that via arm wrestle or chant off next time I see you in the pub - speaking of which what's your plans for watching the game on Saturday?
  18. Is that why Aberdeen have two stars above their badge on the current strip?
  19. That's a different tune Mondragon. The Here We Fucking tune is a lot more staccato, with the first two "here we"s each followed by a pause, then "here we FUCKING go". Similar to "We're Leeds United, we'll never be divided" "The Here we go, here we go, here we go" chant that I also attribute to early '80s Dons fans, is, I think, actually to the tune of Three Cheers for the Red, White & Blue (ironic huh?) or to give it it's proper name - Columbia, Gem of the Ocean (thanks Google) Lyrics and Music
  20. The "one more tune" chant is perfectly acceptable though IMO, but only at the end of a set of course. Would be very odd in the middle, though i suppose it could be an alternative to the slow hand clap or booing in a set you weren't enjoying.
  21. Who? The Fratellis and The View by any chance? (not that I'd imagine you're into those kind of bands Graeme).
  22. Seriously? "Here we, here we, here we fucking go" repeated over and over and FUCKING over and over, till you wish a huge spiked wrecking ball would hurtle into the venue and smash those grinning idiots faces to fucking smithereens, taking you with it so that the memory of the hideous drone spoiling the music is erased for ever. or maybe that's just me. Seriously though, whenever I've heard it the chanters don't even put any effort or aggression into it, like they are just mumbling along for the sake of something to do.
  23. EPISODE 5 FEATURING FOUR TET MEETS OPEN FIELD CHURCH PLUS STREET ART COLLABORATIONS (SPETO + UK STREET ARTISTS) Four Tet finds out how a group of musicians, and non-musicians, in Sao Paulo came together to found the Open Field Church, a group of friends who perform a cappella versions of indie classics. Hear how Four Tet fused his intricate electronica with their enthusiastic singing, and marvel at their eclectic repertoire. Meanwhile in the UK, a street artist from Sao Paulo, Speto, collaborated with three UK graffiti writers to improvise around the themes of Trocabrahma and create original artwork on the walls of London, Liverpool and Glasgow. Street art co-ordinator Andrea McCarthy paints a picture of the process (with photos on the enhanced version of the podcast and in the Trocabrahma Podcast blog) and we hear from artists around the UK and Sao Paulo.
