  1. I have a feeling that a frail 50 year old man with big health problems and bigger mental problems is more likely to have been a let down rather than amazing. I doubt he can still sing and dance like he used to. I like to think it would have been a success, however - but either way it would have been great to be there for the sheer spectacle.
  2. Bad and Thriller were easily the best albums for me. I still spin them all the time (or whatever the iPod equivalent of 'spinning' is). And like Lucky Rathan says, Dangerous also had a few good tunes on it.
  3. MJ was the only artist I listened to before I got into rock/metal, and is responsible for me getting into music. I'm certainly not upset about his death, because for the last 15 years everything about him has gone downhill, from his appearance to his reputation. I'm glad he's gone out now before any of that deteriorates any further. I'm tempted to pay my respects by watching moonwalker (for the billionth time). For me personally, he is immortalised in a song that I was writing and was really stuck on. After a month I got past writers block by listening to Meshuggah and Jackson albums alternatively for an entire day. Cheers MJ.
  4. No way. But then again, if I was a promoter I sure as hell wouldn't book an MJ tour either!
  5. Apparently the promoters booking this are $600M out of pocket. Surely an insurance job!
  6. Cheers! I'm glad you liked it. I thought it was a bit rubbish myself and not even funny enough for the humour forum. I think the mods can delete this thread actually. Just seen that Michael Jackson thread and realised folk have already gone to town on poor old MJ, so I'm gonna go ahead and award myself this:
  7. At the O2 arena. I can't make this gig now due to a family bereavement. 25 each.
  8. I'm pretty sure that's what the bastard offspring of Bob and Tom Jones would look like.
  9. Shoots his mate in the head, but there isn't any blood or anything.
  10. What the fuck. It must be a fake I reckon, but it looks quite good. The shooter doesn't really react like he's just shot his mate, and there's no noise of the arrow going through the boys skull. Also, the momentum of the arrow would surely snap his head back. Still, pretty funny. On a side note, Joe Fatriani's spin kick isn't too impressive.
  11. Totally agree. I almost think of 80s Yes as a different band that did the earlier classics (Roundabout, I've Seen All Good People, Yours Is No Disgrace etc). With Jon Anderson's voice being the only real similarity. In fact, other than Anderson and Chris Squire I think it was a completely different band!
  12. I believe the technical term for that is 'grooming'.

    Comedians

Yeah I agree, he's a legend. Saw him wearing a Cephalic Carnage shirt one time. And coming on to Slayer... win. EDIT: Probably should rephrase "coming on to Slayer"...
  14. Sounds like Monty Python? I got Division Bell a couple of years ago on tape and i was very happy with it. Very mellow and quiet ambient in parts. The yes covers were one of the main reasons for wanting to start on about the covers. Ah Asia a pleasure that never fails me. Soul Survivor and Heat Of The Moment ahhhhhhhhh. What I mean is if Monty Python were a band they would sound like early Floyd! Kazoos, duck quacks, insane lyrics and general sillyness. The end of the track 'Bike' being the best example. Actually that whole song is utterly bizarre. I love division bell to pieces though... it sounds so massive. Similarly I'm a huge fan of half of 'Big Generator' and '90125' albums by Yes because they have that same sort of huge synth driven ambience, although 80's yes is a little poppier than Floyd. If you don't know it, check out the song "Shoot High, Aim Low" from Big Generator. So, so good. And well played, bringing up Prog album covers. HR Giger's cover for ELP's 'Brain Salad Surgery' is also a winner, although not so typically prog (think I was discussing this with Teabags the other day at the tunnels)
  15. I'm really not a fan of Syd Barrett-era Floyd at all. It sounds like Monty Python. However, Wish You Were Here, Division Bell and most of Darkside... are stunning. Floyd and Yes is where it's at for me. And there's some cool covers there... but where the fuck are the Roger Dean painted Yes and Asia covers!
  16. Cheers Phil! I can't take credit for making that .gif though, unfortunately.
  17. I've never even watched the apprentice, but you don't have to have seen it to find this video hilarious. Incredibly good editing in places:
  18. mom also cancels his donkey kong account:
  19. It's really easy man, I taught myself. But I'm sure there are heaps of online tutorials or books you can buy. Sure there's a billion things I probably can't do in protools, but I can still easily do enough to record some pretty cool stuff.
  20. The second I saw it, I instantly thought 'fake' due to the perfect timing of the video recording, plus the fact there is no altercation with his brother who is clearly messing about in his room. However, regardless of that observation and assuming it is set-up, you've got to admire his dedication in putting on a mental performance. Some of his ad lib-ing is genius; randomly ending up naked, going in and out of the closet in a second, and his pice de rsistance... sticking a remote in his hoop. You couldn't script that shit.
  21. I use: POD xt > Digidesign Mbox2 (w/protools) > IMac Love it to bits.
