  7. Spellchecker, you're like Santa Claus without the furry red suit. Gawd bless ya. I'd have taken the echo pedal if 501,439 people hadn't got there before me, but just wanted to say thanks for offering your stuff for free.
  8. Here's another question - you say there are live CDs - got a link? Would be cool to show a class or two what can be done in Linux in my next teaching placement....
  9. Wow! Didn't realise you'd replied - sorry! Tons of info and I'll definitely look into dual booting. Cheers!
  10. This is a good idea - long term - but people are dying now. Why not forego the January sales and donate a bit of your Christmas money to the appeal? The telephone number appears on TV approximately every hour or so. Also, if your company match sponsorship or allocate a certain amount of "charity money" to each employee each year seriously think about hassling them to donate. The proceeds from the gig could help rebuild infrastructure, but it's not much use if everyone in the area has died of disease in the meantime...
  11. Hi, Just been looking at Linux in a new light after my first teaching placement. Looks pretty neat. I remember Spellchecker mentioning he'd spent most of this life (and perhaps some of his previous ones too) setting up his PC as a Linux music studio. Any tips where to start AND is it feasible to config it as a LiveCD (or Boot CD)? Cheers
  12. are you distributing this one to the masses? would love to hear it. congrats on the review! lofi rules. ian x
  13. in case anyone's interested - they can also be used as sustain pedals with electronic keyboards. it's a bit weird getting used to it as it's reversed, but they do work!
