Vialka + Wounded Knee @ The Tunnels, 15th February

... and the bee ... on the torry ferreeee (sorry) -
Haha! I think I know who you are now KS - you arrived early yes? If you're referring to me - the shushing was part of the song - but it seemed to do the trick! To be honest I don't mind folk having a chat because nights out are better if you're social but if it gets so loud it pisses off other people who want to listen to the music then the line has to be drawn. How is another question - I've seen some right rants from musicians that makes you just think 'they're tossers' (CIP: Dean Owens)... Here is a short vid I took of MSTU (who I agree were amazing and I wish more folk were there to enjoy it) - sorry about the sound quality. YouTube - Monkey Swallows The Universe - Tunnels, Aberdeen, 10/02/08 Thanks again to all at IMP & Tunnels - the coffee & soup were bloody lovely by the way. Possibly my best gig experience. I'm perhaps too easily pleased!

Jens Lekman - The Opposite of Hallelujah (bizarrely the first track i spotted after the Peacock gig the other night where Jens' CD was on). Tis good. TingTings free tracks from everywhere. I gave them a chance. They're shite. Really, really shite. Like a primary school Bis. Anni Rossi - Wheelpusher. Has been stuck in my head for weeks, no MONTHS. Best song I've heard for ages. Get it. David Newlyn (Drift) - Wait Here With Me. Nice enough but a bit... yawn... Caribou - Andorra. I didn't like this at all to begin with. Too chimey sing-song especially Melody Days which made my teeth hurt. Now though I've grown to like most of it (still not sure about MD though). Rollin Hunt CD I bought on Sunday. VERY lofi and a few songs make you go "huh?" but some gems that are going on the next mix tape I make. 8 well spent.

I wonder how many people working for the council would have given up their paid-for lunches to keep the Lemon Tree going? What was the cost a couple of years ago? 50k+? Seriously, darkly, royally pissed off about this - and not just because I'm missing out on all the winter gigs I'd planned to see. Where's that grim smiley? Bill's right too - some cracking venues in other cities and the council NEED a place like LT to draw in touring gigs/rep shows/stand up & at the same time keep the few tourists and their pennies in the city. Shot themselves in the foot a little there eh? Good luck with the benefit gig this weekend! Some nice names lined up! Ian

Fred Frith + Jasper Leyland @ The Tunnels, 3rd November
ghost replied to offramp's topic in Interesting Music Promotions
I also have to mention how good Jasper was - from where I was sitting it looked like he was just triggering samples on his laptop but no... his sleight of hand was so good I couldn't tell he was playing instruments behind the monitor speaker! The visuals were crisp, relaxing and with his lack of movement, entirely necessary! -
