  1. Ok, so basically this whole thread is a waste of time... You know why most places dont play that kind of music, and you know that one-up has been known to, you've just not been there, you don't like it, but i don't like getting out of bed in the morning or the fact that millions of people across the world die every day of starvation and illness, but it happens. If you hadn't just ignored every single valid point in this thread, this would of been resolved after 2 pages. Case Closed.
  2. ....i cant even be bothered.... see what medichi said... maybe you should stop listening to your Agrophobic Nosebleed cd's in class, you might pick up some key spelling an grammar tips, primary 7 is an important year y'know.
  3. Well, if you had half a brain, it would be telling you that I personally, do not have an intrest in the bands you listed, nothing more, just i don't like them... although on a previous page i APPARENTLY was telling you what to like and what not to like... i'm not you, im not trying to force me favourite bands upon you... When did it suddenly become so important what music they play in shops, do you throw your toys out the pram when you go into McDonalds and they're not playing Pig Destroyer? no, because music in all shops is just there to give any shop a slightly more lively vibrant attitude for the 20 mins max that your in there, not as a personal Jukebox for you, ever heard of headphones?
  4. I'm glad you said that, save me the bother. tho im not sure if i should be offended by the 'kids who like slipknot' statement Rune, you've achieved little else but coming across as a metal elitist... i FUCKING hate metal elitists, it just makes people who dont know anything about the genre think every metalhead is totally up themselves claiming metal as the 'real' genre whilst trying to cram 'Real Metal' down everyone elses throat. I honestly couldnt say i care for the bands you've listed either, though i consider myself a Metalhead, shit i must be faking it, my secret is out.... Anyway... it's funny, i go into shops to buy stuff... not listen to the music... what a freak i am....
  5. I'm gonna have to disagree with pretty much everyone, although i see what stripey is saying, i still think this whole argument is a heap of arse. Everyone is talking about the scene as if it's some sort of company that isnt doing so well and all the employees be it the bands or the punters/kids just aren't doing a good enough job, if this is the case then prehaps we should just lock all the scene in a room, elect a CEO and make up a business plan... of course thats stupid, and this is why i hate this mentality. The scene is just a word to take in everything that is going on in aberdeen music wise, alot of people up here don't know half of it and i for one am the first to stand up and say i dont know piss all about the scene in aberdeen. I can see how stripey gets annoyed when people refer to the scene as the corner of Aberdeen that consists of 'bands' (vox/guitar/bass/drums) playing mainly rock/punk influenced music, there is alot more to it and it doesnt just consist of drakes/kef/moshulu, maybe its just the way this site is set up to accomodate for this part of the scene, so yes, up here you will find alot of people unaware... ...admittedly im not preticularly intrested in everything else going on, but i know it's there, if you know what i mean. On to my main point, that i almost managed to completely forget whilst babbling. Music is one of the arts. no? Like art it's all very much down to your own interpretation of it, and from there you do what feels good to you. I personally like any kind of music that gives me that feeling right at the bottom of my stomach, that incontainable urge to throw yourself about, nod your head or punch a fist in the air. Black Atom gives me that feeling, it's my passion, and i dont really give a fuck if someone thinks it's outdated, or it's re-treading old ground or that we're just a 'tribute band'. Which is why most of the stuff in this thread has gone in one ear and out the other, i dont care... because i love what i do, playing music i have so much passion for on stage infront of like minded people, is possibly the greatest feeling in the world for me, whether there's 9 people there or 200, whether they like it or not, at the end of the day, i went on stage, i did what i love to do, i had fun and it's a massive bonus if anyone out there took it in and appreciated it.... And i know that any real band in this city will be able to stand up and say the exact same thing... Perhaps there is a bit of a glut of bands consisting of people who just want a slightly bigger ego, or to get noticed, or with the 'they're in a band and they're cool, we should start a band' mentality, lord knows i'd be a rich man if i had a pound every time someone came up to me at an Atom gig and said, "you guys are cool, i'm trying to get a band together like you" but whatever, yeah sure these bands in question may actually make it as far as gigging, (the AUBL is still full of kiddie bands that decided they wanted to be in a band took some photos sitting about looking moody then forgot to get any music or gig) but to be honest if they really are just retreading old ground as a quick, lets get some attention scheme they wont last 5 minutes, providing they dont get encouraged. As for everyone else, like i said before, it's about the passion, no kick up the arses needed i recon, people are doing what they want because its what they love to do, and if you think this isn't good enough, prehaps you should start writing up those business plans....

I loved that sum 41 video!! the slash rip off tapping solo was supreme! We've been talking about making a video for fookin ages, i can promise you when/if we do, it will be about a squillion times better than the virus video! Any (feesable) ideas for a Black Atom vid?
  9. I couldnt agree more with the ideas put up this thread (except for the bit about destroying Belmont St maybe), Maybe not preticularly making places for youth to go, but more the general identity of Aberdeen, ive been thinking alot about it having spent a couple of days in edinburgh, its amazing the different atmosphere in the two cities, admittedly it is almost festival time in edinburgh but nonetheless, it was an amazing feeling walking about a city that didnt seem to have any prejudice for a start (i dont think ive ever gone 2 days in Aberdeen without getting abuse hurled or dirty looks from neds) , it was a very free feeling, and i think this comes from the way the city is planned and run, i really didnt want to come back to the shit hole that is aberdeen after spending just 2 days there. I dunno, it was just on my mind after being away, pedestrianising (sp?) union street would be a start, or making it only buses (i know this is 'in the pipeline'... but for how long now?) union street is so dank and depressing, in fact i think belmost st is the highlight of th city, not really for the content, just the look and feel of it... sorry, im just having some semi concious rambling, but i think Aberdeen city council should stop thinking about putting roofs on everything and maybe think about cleaning up the city and giving it a better vibe....
  10. Thread about a movie getting moved into music forums? Tut-tut
  11. was seriously thinking about going down for it actually, got a place to stay at my sis' too...
  12. Just found out, that the new behind the scenes documentary WILL actually be getting a UK premiere, i've been searching the official websites for months looking for some form of showing in this country, and theres been nothing, but i just noticed in the paper that it will be shown as a part of the Edinburgh Film Festival on the 21st and 28th of August. By yhe sound of it there wont be much of a release in other cinemas tho, maybe worth keeping an eye on the Belmont tho, anyone else looking forward to this? seems like it's going to be alot more honest than your usual behind the scenes 'look we made an album' bullshit. Should be incredibly interesting.
  13. Well, i didn't do music, but the most metal i've heard is Metallica's Hero of the Day coming up in Len's Standard Grade Music Listening... Oh and good luck to you Tav, i did Higher Technilogical Studies, and got booted from the class after i got 16% in the Prelim, *shudder* Tho it is a fairly metal subject, also because Erskine's dad was my teacher in said subject. Good Luck to the lot of you, just remember, at least you wont do as badly as i did... 5th Year Tech studies - kicked out after prelim. Chemistry - Failed Prelim, F in Final exam (my ROA quite impressively only had a short course in Issues of Belief on it) 6th Year Chemistry Resit - (thought i'd pass 2nd time round.. course got totally changed to higher still, bugger!) left with the now legendary int2 in World of Carbon and nothing else. 2 year Higher English - went into the final exam with an A folio... somehow got a D after the final exam.... If that doesn't make you feel better about your results, nothing will! Good Luck!
  14. Yeah it's a shame we had to scrap that artwork! If only the baby-oil hadn't got in the camera and we didn't have to resort to plan B
  15. I don't see that being a problem...
  16. I find it funny that in another not so distant thread you were mocking manowar......
  17. if im not mistaken, you copied them for us, so it's probably completely legit. Mind you, that doesnt make up for it being pure dirt!
  18. sorry to ruin the sentiment, but you also sung Master of Puppets with Risactonia a very, very long time ago Dudes it is a sad day indeed when a band dies, after a shaky start in Laurie, you guys kicked some major ass! Glad i could be a part of the magic so to speak (and if benner's unavailable for any of the final gigs, you have my number! was a blast last time, do it again in a flash! ) I'm just sorry that you had to add insult to injury by not only splitting up, but forming a power metal band from the ashes Take Care Dudes and Good Luck
  19. It seems that every couple of months i find myself up here asking the same question, so i'll ask one more time then i'll leave it coz i dont seem to get much positive response to these threads... I'm currently working on Atomweb (have been for about 4 hours now) trying to get the damn thing more up to date. Now i notice it doesnt get very many hits these days (only 12% of almost 10,000 hits are returning visitors, yes i check these things), and most of you would rather come here than visit the Official Site, im not bitching dont worry, im still overwhelmed we get the response that we do, i just want to know from you guys, the people who care, a) if theres anything putting you off visiting the site? and b) what i can do as your faithful webby to make it more appealing to you guys! Now i appreciate that a lack of updates probably has alot to do with the dip in visitors (please let me know if this is the case, it will not surprise me atall!) for about a year i was getting increasingly bitchy e-mails from one Atomite asking that i update more often, so i am aware that its something that needs to be fixed. At the moment the site is being temporarily hosted on other webspace until we get a couple of space issues sorted, so i personally dont have access to update it at the moment, im not making pathetic excuses as im sure you're all aware on a good day the site normally goes atleast 2 months without an update, but yeah, at the moment, it is a tad tricky. Anyway, back to the point... what do you guys want to see on the site? At the moment, i'm gutting out the photo section, removing most of the pre-2002 pics to make way for some swanky new flash galleries, which will be easier and quicker to navigate, removing some of the old content, some of which was written over 3 years ago and is now utterly irrelevant, like the influences and biog sections, and of course there will be some major news regarding a certain album (Artwork/Tracklisting anyone?... if your very good, we might even give you an audio clip). Thats what im up to just now, incase anyone was wondering from my last update, the all new Atomweb v4 has been put on the backburner for just now perhaps until we get the album out of the way, give me some time to get some ideas together and get building. So with all the old crap coming off and the site moving forward, what can i do to entice more of you guys back for a return visit? The 'Fun Stuff' Section is still there awaiting some ideas, it'll prolly come down soon if theres no intrest, think of it as a blank canvas for you guys, i'm completely open to ideas here. Now, assuming theres intrest in more regular updates, we do have to take into consideration, just being a local band, we dont really get up to too much, so unless you want updates every time erskine takes a shit, there will be a certain amount of time between updates, but if your intrested, i can do everything in my power to get it updated more like once a fortnight rather than 6 times a year. Anyway speak to me guys, I could do with some idea-flinging to get some intrest up, if no-one's intrested thats completely cool, i just want to know what intrests you all, what you'd like to see up there and if anything that you'd like to be rid of. Cheers! -Rass -http://www.blackatom.co.uk
