  1. this is all getting rather anal. What if you want to make a comparison between a local gig and general music? People should start being offensive all the time, and give those fucking pricks of moderators something useful to do.
  2. the first pressings weren't numbered or anything it's just a bog standard t&g release The rude gesture still comes with a smear of shellac on the front - nice!
  3. It has come to my attention that in some bands over 50% of members wear shoes, whilst in others the majority wear boots! Although this may at first appear trivial, it is a very real and very important division in our ranks. Where does everyone stand on this? Obviously we'll have to pick the usual teams and start with something like a reasoned arguement, before descending into the usual 'you're a cock' piley-on. Shoes or boots? First cunt to claim the moral high-ground wins a cadburys cream egg.
  4. Those french gate-dog chaps were rather splendid. I was simply delighted when he whipped out that enormous firework. For a moment I thought he was going to set off a distress flare. Fucking party-popper. Ven-hell were delightful also. Cheers for letting me abuse that amp when mine died, about 15 hours of use after an R&B 'service'. my head hurts
  5. I love that review! He omits to mention that we received thunderous applause and that Sirius stormed off the stage bickering with each other after half a set, to utter silence. Och well....
  6. i can only assume that the other 95% of the data was the good bits, if you'll pardon the pun. I've just done a bit of experimenting, turning wavs into mp3s and, although you lose a lot of the granularity, the sense of the overall acoustic remains pretty similar, though not as detailed. I imagine that the mp3 in question will sound just as bland (abeit with sparkling levels of detail) in wav form. And I don't like the song. Not being an engineer, I have the luxury of being able to treat a song and how it sounds as being the same thing. Like I said in my original post, no disrespect to anyone involved in the process. However I resent the way Flash tells the world that their opinions count for nowt because he has better toys than them.
  7. Flash The technical analysis is all very well and good. The fact remains that some mp3s sound good. This isn't one of them. It's pretty shitty that the only way you can deal with criticism is by boasting about how good the engineer is, how great the sound-system is and how you've got a better stereo than anyone else. That's pathetic. When people talk about the 'sound', it's not merely a matter of the level of detail involved, it's about how the track works as a whole. This said, I'm aware that the recording was done using mics that were primarily there for PA purposes, as opposed to for specific recording purposes. The mix is pretty good when you take this into account but, as the old studio adage goes, you can't polish a turd. Detail only counts for so much. This doesn't sound all that special. No disrespect to anyone involved in the process.
