I don't know about it being a joke, more of a badly planned publicity campaign that could seriously backfire. People are going to think the band are either a self-important bunch of twats who take themselves too seriously, a bunch of big cry-babies or just plain desperate. None of those options would make me want to spend time or money going to their gigs or buying their products. (Unless Neil has actually set up the whole thing with a fake band to get publicity for aberdeen-music.com, which would be quite clever) Anyway, to have a chance of winning this case the band would have to prove that people breached the rules of the forum and it went unmoderated, although I can't remember any rules saying "You shall not give negative opinions on bands". They'd also have to prove they had lots of gigs before the comments were posted but very little after. The more I think about it, it can't be real, it must be fake. Could a band really be that stupid?

Actually Ive just noticed the adjustable input level bit. Badger should be able to keep you right on the rest. If only he'd thought to highlight the important parts.

If I was a promoter I'd be highly insulted by the insinuation that I base my judgement of bands on what's said on a public forum. Promoters normally have plenty of other contacts (most importantly other promoters and people who work at the gigs) and minds of their own.

Fuck the child labour, boycott the venues cos of what these units do to the sound ( not what is says on the tin). I had the misfortune to use a Behringer EQ the other day, fucking awful, next to useless.

I've spent all my adult life involved in music in Aberdeen, from playing to working, and I've probably seen more gigs than anyone (except possibly Sharon Drakes) I've got one question to ask about this local "scene". Where is it? I've seen no evidence of a "scene", all I've seen are people going to gigs with bands they like, either personally or for the music. That's not a "scene" is it? Unless you're talking about every genre having it's own little "scene", which appears to be the case. Put on an indie gig and I could probably name 15-20 of the audience before they know they're going, it's the same with other genres. But if you've got all these little "scenes" where's this big one that everyone keeps referring to?

Erm, I live in Aberdeen! How the fuck would I know how the big boys do it. I do know that several units mentioned on the rack list retail at about 3-4K so YOU count it up cos I couldn't be arsed. I reckon there's at least 25K on the outboard but I never deal in anything more expensive than Allen and Grief or Beh(spewma)ringer cos that's all the music industry in Aberdeen can afford. That's also why I've taken early retirement.
