RUN TO THE HILLLLLLLLLLSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!! (though not the ones that have eyes)

  6. yeah i'm working on some lyrics but am struggling to work out vocal melodies, i'm always rubbish at that. the drums are made with a program called hydrogen (http://hydrogen.sf.net), it's linux and mac osx only at the moment, maybe they'll bring it out on windows soon. the acoustic guitar was through a couple of mics, twice the electric guitar (les paul) was recorded through a line6 pod job for that delayee tremoloee sound bass was recorded pretty much straight in, compressed a bit the guitar solo / melody sounding thing is actually nord synth played on a keyboard thrust through the line6 like it didn't want to be. ta for listening to it
  7. yes, instead of drinking this weekend, i got off my arse and wrote and recorded a song. i think it's probably the best home production i've ever done. no vocals, but everything else is there. maybe it's a boards of canada stylee no vocalee tracky typey of thingy. http://gcguide.co.uk/audio/the_past_present.mp3
  8. perhaps they haven't updated their database yet. doing a manual request by hand gives a clue about a vhost not being setup (meaning their webserver isn't aware of a redirect for your domain): ------------ paul@fastpc ~ $ telnet www.iainthomson.co.uk 80 Trying 195.224.48.69... 9. if you want to get a quick MIDI setup, the best way is probably to get a newish keyboard from ebay - the recent midi keyboards have an interface built in, and just plugin with USB - Reason will just see it as a single midi device i think. of course they still have midi ports on em too. now the only thing is to choose a keyboard! do you want a playable one for keyboard stuff, i.e 49, 61 or even more keys, or do you just want a 2 octave bad boy to do stuff with live? to be honest if it's just for playing with synths and doing live stuff, i'd go for a small two octave thing - purposeful, practical and they look cool! however, if you want to play 2 hands at a time for piano pieces or whatever, then probably get at least a 49 key, or ideally a 61 key. m-audio/evolution make good eens. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/M-Audio-Radium-49-Keyboard-MIDI-Controller_W0QQitemZ7402238685QQcategoryZ14987QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem ^^^^ there's a nice 49 key jobbie - it also has faders and pots which you can midi assign in Reason - meaning you can fiddle with synth settings without moving a mouse about - very handy. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/M-Audio-O2-USB-Midi-Keyboard_W0QQitemZ7401647844QQcategoryZ14987QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem ^^^^ and there's a nice shorty, it has assignable pots too by the look of it.
  10. you could also ask one of your friends on MSN/yahoo/AOL or whatever you use (if you use!!) to send a copy of mozilla to you - that could be slowwwwww though
  11. ah right, i see - every site or link you go to it redirects you to that page? maybe you could try a copy of mozilla or firefox if you have one handy, it most likely will not be affected. edit: or, try booting your machine into "Safe Mode with Networking Support", and see if you can get on the internet (might not work if you have a USB modem) chances are it may not load the offending OCX/DLL file that hijacks your browser. more editness: you may also still have your "Messenger" service switched on as a system service. Note this is not the same thing as MSN messenger. this is a system service you should stop - you can probably find the services viewer at start->all programs->administrative programs->services or something like that
  12. you want to be download HijackThis, from the following location http://www.tomcoyote.org/hjt/ it doesn't install anywhere, it just runs from where you save it to. It removes browser hijacks, i.e. things that keep changing your start page, and your search functions and add stupid toolbars, etc. etc.
  13. and here's what it sounds like as an mp3: http://s61.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=3L843CY30JL771BOYQDIX2QOY5 do you have a midi keyboard, or did you just plot it all in a sequencer? doesn't sound like there's any velocity changes, so i'm guessing you have no keyboard. sounds like cheesy midi metal to me! maybe my soundfont sounds a bit dated though. what sequencing program / sound card are you using?
  14. to be honest mate they're a bit overpriced! my laptop is virtually the same as the first one you have, and i paid about 300 for it 2 years ago. together with the broken bits...
