  10. The problem is that all the staff (0r more accurately, me) would eat them all. I did randomly discover a shiny new toastie machine the other day however........
  11. EDIT Deleted I refuse to get into yet another protracted internet argument, where I feel the need to justify perfectly reasonable actions, when I have better things to do with my time. If you or anyone else wants to discuss anything that happens in Henry J Beans or Moshulu, you all know where to find me. Rob 572 876
  12. Right, comments, suggestions, changes, improvements, criticisms ..... all welcome, we can't improve it unless you tell us what you want to see. Rob
  13. A Bar/Nightclub are not 'Public Places' and anyone can be refused entry, with no justification at all. Further more any Licensee can call the police and have any one removed for no reason at all (although obviously if you are calling them three times a day they might object at the next licensing hearing) The only reason you would be refused entry here is if you were pissed, barred or underage. You might not always get an explanation though, if you are told 'not tonight' it is more likely you will wander off on your way than spend 20 minutes debating how 'Ihhhmm neh shooo pished, jusht had a phew drinksh mate'
  14. You can't get a door badge if you have a conviction for assault in the last five years. You can't get one at all if you have a more serious conviction. The reason that they wear badges is to make them accountable, if a doorman is arrested for assault, whether at work or not, then they are automatically suspended for a police report. If they really did go around beating people up and taking out their aggression at random they wouldn't last a week these days. I wonder what justification you have for your statement? or did you just make it up? The self control I have seen my guys show is quite remarkable in some circumstances, and remember these are guys who have been around the block more than once, and have worked places like Zuu, Bex, Bud Bar, the Metro, Hoochie Coochie club and all in the bad old days too. They work here, when they could work any door in Aberdeen (and regularly get offered jobs) because they like it here, the crowd and the atmosphere. They don't want to be in a fight every night, just like no one else does.......
  15. Yes, face to face, with me. Not to post a string of half truths on an internet message board.
  16. The Perennial Underagers argument. I honestly, hand on heart, don't believe there is a massive problem. When we instigated a massive crack down a few weeks back, attendances were unchanged, although we did piss off a load of people that had to go home for ID. Many times I have been told someone is definately underage, and have ID'd them myself only to get a valid Drivers license or Passport. When Licensing police were in for a look around, they didn't see a problem. Like any club a few will always slip the net, we do ID and knock back loads every night. Certainly i know of many places in Aberdeen that do have a problem. I absolutely and utterly refute any suggestion that either myself or any one who works for me would let anyone in for a blowjob/grope/whatever. If anyone can point out anyone underage to me then I will always ID them. Rob
  17. I say it again. It's on CCTV, I have seen it, the police have seen it. Following the supposed 'beating up' he continued to shout abuse, tried to atack the doormen at Bar Jin, ON CCTV, then attacked the doormen at Drum ON CCTV, where he was lifted by the police, WITHOUT A MARK ON HIM. If every door in Aberdeen radio'd the police everytime some one gave them abuse, the police would have no time to do anything about real trouble. Jim's not a 'Vigilante' nor does he hand out 'random beatings'. He's an engineering student, at university. paying his way through college. So, while I continue to maintain he should not have said anything to 'Drunkenmonkey' I understand why he was aggrieved at having the police called, on the emergency response radio, by a fellow doorman, for beating someone up when in fact he did no such thing. Rob *Edit* Or perhaps, as an inexperienced bouncer you reacted innapropriately, blew the situation out of all proportion, were spoken to by Jim, and are now trying to even it all up? *Edit*
  18. I have the whole incident on CCTV. From start to finish. As do the Police, which is why they have stated they are happy with Jim's actions and offered to arrest the other guy for assault. If he was 'beaten up' how did he manage to start a fight with the Door staff at Bar Jin afterwards? or with the door staff at Drum, where he was finally arrested from? try that then, see if it's possible Granted, he shouldn't have done that, but, he was and I think justifiably, a little upset you had radio'd the police, especially considering he never hit him, merely pushed him up the lane to get rid of him. Nothing to do with my door, another doorman from another venue who felt you were out of order. Nothing I can do about that. that's certainly not the polices view of what will happen. I am not going to dignify that with an answer, especially as I am Jim's boss. The reason you weren't hired here, when you applied, was because our head doorman was concerned you were a little immature at 19, and that you would not react in a mature way to any incidents. Like, for example, posting at best, half truths on a message board. a lot of you out there will know Jim, he is almost always on the door at HJB. I have never recieved a complaint about him before, infact today I had someone harping on about what a great doorman he was. Perhaps if anyone else has a view on them they can let me know. Rob
  19. Hmmm, we were trying as hard as we could to make it different from the normal club nights that we do. We didn't want it to be seen as 'oh look, Moshulu is just doing another alternative night'. We took advice and were advised that the music was typical of a fetish night so we went with it. However, you are not the first to raise the point and it will be changed for next time. Rob
  20. Correct, it's not going to be a monday. We have everything pretty much mapped out now, but we're not saying anything, you'll have to get an invite and come along on the night. Rob
  21. Can you give me a ring or drop in to see me As soon as possible. Thanks Rob 572 876
  22. After much thought on the matter we have decided to bring Mud Club to an end. We had put up notices explaining the situation, but obviously some kind soul pulled them down. Basically we felt that with two other clubs trying to cash in by doing alternative nights on a monday we had two options : a) try and fight it out with them - cheaper drinks, free admission yadda yadda b) regroup and try and take the night forward to the next level. We felt there was a danger that you would all get bored coming to 4 alternative nights at the same club, where the whole thing was come along, pay in, have a few drinks, listen to the music, go home. We were trying to make the music as diverse as possible, and we still believe we have the best club, with the best staff and by far the best DJ's but we have decided to relaunch a new night, on a different day of the week, that is completely different to everything you have seen before. No it won't be as cheap as some of the other nights people are doing out their, but we have taken the decision to add value, not cut costs. We want to be the market leaders, not just doing the same as everyone else. look out for the new themed night in about 4 weeks, I gaurantee it is going to take alternative nights to the next level. Mud Club used to be the most common reason given for university students missing lectures on a tuesday morning and that is our target for this new night. and without wishing to be bitchy I have personally heard a manager of another venue that is trying to compete say about their alternative night 'their all fucking weirdo goths, but as long as they have daddies money to spend I couldn't give a fuck' Hopefully we have a better attitude than that.
  23. Bollocks Bollocks Bollocks I had one at 4am this morning from ASDA. *crosses fingers*
