  4. For all you folk out there interested in Boredoms & Boredoms style of mentalness please check out Bo Ningen playing at The Tunnels this Wednesday, threads are active elwhere on gigs & IMP messageboards. This is how the Evening Express on Thurs 19th Nov previewed their ONLY Scottish show on this tour:- Japenese Four-Piece push the boundaries. One of the hottest new bands on the London music scene are heading to the North East. Japanese experimental noise four piece Bo Ningen have been hailed as the most exciting live act in years. Guitarist Taigen said" When we first formed we would jam for 12hours every day. There was no real structure to those sessions, we would just make noise & see where the music took us. Bo Ningen moved to London Four years ago & release a limited edition ep Koroshitai Kimmochilater this month. LIVE they are a cacophonous clash between experimentalism od Ash Ra Temple & the abrasive edge of fellow Japanese bands like Les Rallizes Denudes & Boredoms (who they were heavily infulenced by in their early informative years) Unprdictable & loud Bo Ningen LIVE are UNFORGETTABLE. Taigasn said "For anyone coming to the show who has not heard our music before I would say Bo Ningen define our music as PSYCHEDLIC. To be a psychedlic band it is not just about playingsongs that sound like they are from the 1960's or rehashing a Krautrock sound. Psychedlic should be about pushing the bounderies, taking the music to areas it has never been b4. That is what Bo Ningen are about which is why our shows are so WILD.

  9. what an amount of amazing equipment & lots of home made instruments weve just loaded in. this is going to be one amazing evening. here's the blog ex P&J Cairnbulg cyclists Arctic feat now hailed in song Big-screen movie in making to celebrate 3,000-mile trip By Jamie Buchan Published: 31/10/2009 ADVENTURER: James Duthie, who took on the Arctic challenge on a bicycle The amazing story of a profoundly deaf north-east cyclist who rode into the Arctic Circle with just a blanket and a few jumpers to keep him warm has inspired a musical tribute. More than 50 years after Cairnbulg factory worker James Duthie completed his epic 3,000-mile adventure, his journal is already being made into a big-screen feature by award-winning director Matt Hulse. Now the tale has inspired a collection of songs, which will be released as an album later this month. Acclaimed Glasgow musician and composer Daniel Padden will be launching the CD at a series of concerts starting in Edinburghs Dovecot Studios on Friday, November 13. Mr Padden will also be performing, as The One Ensemble, at Aberdeens Peacock Visual Arts on Sunday, November 15. He will be joined by singer Sarah Kenchington. Footage filmed for Mr Hulses film, on locations in and around Fraserburgh and along the route of Mr Duthies trip, will also be shown. Mr Duthie, who could not speak, was affectionately known as Dummy Jim and became a celebrity after returning from his journey. He travelled through the Netherlands, Denmark, Norway and Sweden before crossing into the Arctic Circle. Edinburgh-based Mr Hulse said: The album has been inspired by the same book as the film and the music will appear in the film. Its an interesting way of working, but I was reminded that that was how Evita evolved. The film project was kick-started with a 25,000 award from the Scottish Arts Council in 2001. Fans are being invited to help fund the venture via the official website, www.dummyjim.com The films makers are trying to achieve a size-zero carbon footprint by using clockwork cameras and cycle-powered generators where possible. 10. this is an official bump, however those of you reading this that have attended some of the events in Peacock Artspace in the past will know its a fantastic place to see & hear live music events. This certainly has the makings of being at the top-end of the better ones. So come along tonight for a Sunday night treat & make sure your read the announcement as its going to be visual as well. If you are a newbie to events in Peacock's its all about the music/visual not chatting at the bar........STFU policy in force
  11. another live review the four skinny Japanese guys combined big hair, big guitars, catchy riffs, a pinch of insanity and some fine songs to create a simply mesmerising set that has the attention of everyone in the theatre. The emotion of the tracks is portrayed brilliantly by the group, led by a sockless young gent who looks like he could possibly snap in two at any moment. A great set of emotional and dynamic rock snowballs to an explosive conclusion, think jumping, climbing, teeth supported guitar antics and a huge boom of noise.- Panic: Issue 33
  12. Tonight @ The Suttie Centre FREE (well only a wee donation) to hear some remarkable experimental music
  13. much more fun with a lot less people on stage to cramp Mr Moffat's natural flow
  14. jeepers iv'e got a double out there, thats almost identical to the message I was going to post. It took me about two years to go into the BA Centre & still prefer going via the sacred Harriet Bar route!!!!!!!! I dare say its a good time to go to shops in this area Hoping Yo Sushi has a good Vege choice for when I do go in eventually
  15. full announcement to follow soon, but this is quote well worth reading:- 'If someone in the 1960's had imagined ('Space: 1999' style) what rock and roll would sound like in 2009, Bo Ningen is what they would have heard in their head. The four Japanese Londoners are East Electric Psychedelic (the name gives some idea of what they're about) at The Cross Kings and it's the best gig I've seen all year. What with the profoundly cool, effortless onstage wig-outs and head-bending james, they are pretty much the consummate psyche band, while at the same time playing an updated J-Rock template that has elements of kraut-rock, metal, hardcore and funk scratched all over it. That might sound messy on paper but live the disorder is wrought into tight riffs that explode into transcendent a-tonal onslaughts without notice. In its obbession with repetition and the twisted patterns of its ungraspable musical narrative, the set has all the appeal of listening to Amon Duul, Can, Melt-Banana or one of the weirder nights at the Dalston Vortex, but they're the only band around that could capably straddle the words of a dazed double-spread and an ATP stage. It's a hundred times better than what's on their myspace page' -Loud & Quiet
  16. I have no doubts that this is a "must see live" band
