  1. bollocks, I've seen loads of stuff sell on here, and I've got myself a fair few bargains too.
  2. That's awesome, cheers!! We've got a few comments already so it's obviously working... keep the comments coming folks, with a bit of luck somebody might take notice
  3. Happy Birthday dude, hope work doesn't suck too much!
  4. Some very cool photos in your gallery flash, cheers. I especially like the portrait-type shots and that awesome group shot with Joe looking ghostly.
  5. deesc, apologies then - I obviously didn't realise it was your mate.
  6. ho ho ho, humorous threats of violence because someone doesn't like you guys. Classic. PS - since when was multiple thread starting ok?
  7. Sorry to be the one to burst that bubble but nobody is ammune from criticism, and that's all it was. Criticism is something you open yourselves up to the moment you charge people to watch you play, you are not immune from it just because you may have travelled a long distance or whatever. Random slagging of a band is uncalled for, but that never happened in this case. All criticism that was initially given was constructive and it wasn't until the band felt the need to completely jump overboard that things got a little out of hand. What's the point of, just for the hell of it, saying something was good when it wasn't? There's nothing worse than being told that a gig that you've played was great when you know yourself that it was pants, lying just seems patronising.
  8. Totally, it helps get rid of those nasty "ghost" notes that are created - try just tapping a note (let's say G at string 3, fret 12) and listen to the note that should sound but also a faint dissonant (usually) harmonic. It also stops the open strings from ringing out and any unwanted string noise can be reduced by the use of a mute. You can buy a mute, I think they can be quite pricey, which sits on the nut and can be dropped at will. I usually use a (clean) sock tied round the neck lightly. It's one for the studio only though obviously
  9. Yeah - thats the one. It's Victor and Reggie Wooten. Victor is just a god, its funny that the clip can't actually keep up with his right hand - it just becomes a blur. If you see it on DVD as Texjamm said its pretty incredible. I've enjoyed sitting through his instructional DVD's many times and I don't play bass, its just the spectacle. Oh but Reggie Wooten pisses me off, popping and tapping like that on the guitar just sounds hideous in my opinion. Play some real notes ! For some vintage Wooten check out the album "A Show of Hands" - it has the face melting "Me and my Bass Guitar" on it... sweet.
  10. A little bit on the pissy side don't you think? Who said it was a "who's heaviest" contest anyway? It's just meant to be a "people's favourite metal band" category and I think you're taking it a little on the serious side. As for not voting unless you've seen and heard ALL the bands? Come on, that's a little idealist isn't it, people are always just going to vote for their favourite and that's just the way of it - whoever wins, it doesn't matter. It's just a bit of banter anyway, nobody should be taking this as seriously as you seem to be. VOTE ELEMENT!
  11. What a crock of shite! Since when were you not allowed to post negative opinions about a gig? If Blackened were a local band chucking their toys out of the pram over a mere opinion then all of the usual suspects would be on here giving the old "you shouldn't be up on stage if you can't handle criticism" routine. Sorry but everyone is entitled to give an opinion. I reckon there are a lot of tribute bands out there who are making a killing out of these kinds of tours (I don't mean Blackened), I know for a fact that when we played with Black McSabbath at Kef they charged the venue an arm and a leg and they were utter bollocks (a complete embarrasment if I'm being honest). If people had heard an honest reveiw beforehand then they may have thought twice before heading down. Don't get me wrong, tribute bands can be ace (and I wasn't at the Blackened show so I can't comment on their performance) Sabbath Bloody Sabbath were fantastic when I saw them and Hi-On Maiden certainly play a good show.
  12. Happy Birthday duder!! Have a good one
  13. brilliant, I've been listening for around an hour now and it does a pretty magic job of picking out great tunes. What a great way to discover something new.
  14. Thanks for taking the time out to do a review man That gig turned out a lot better for us than we thought it would and I pretty much agree with your thoughts on the gig itself (regarding our performance ). Cheers!
  15. --x--- --5--- --4--- --2--- --2--- --0--- Slight modification to the above in the style of Randy Rhoads, same chord but without the worry of open strings. Technically it's still just a plain old E5 though... classic
  16. It would seem that Dan is otherwise engaged so for the moment I'll point you in the direction of his new beast : http://www.diezel.ch/en/products/vh4.php You'll get the basic blurb from there too but I'm sure Dan will want to expand upon its greatness
  17. Totally, some nice potrait ones that could maybe get used for new website things etc.
  18. Here are some of the photos from Halloween at Moshulu/Bassment. They were taken by the one and only Skinny Doug. http://www.douglaspayne.plus.com/frightnight/ Are you in them? Most probably... Enjoy!
  19. Here's the link to the photos. They're split into "gig" and then "costumes". Enjoy!! http://www.douglaspayne.plus.com/frightnight/
  20. That would be Skinny Doug, one of our friends. He brought a good camera to take photos of the gig and then decided to document the whole night by taking as many pictures as possible. He's going to upload them at some point asap and so I'll post the link here when I get it.
  21. Ouch, that track sounds like its a 1k mp3, yuck! Rainbow sounded ok though... weird. EDIT: So it's through the laptop, I see.
