  1. Craig Cuntkicker says that" this thing never once stopped ejaculating its hot metal love juice all over me"

Yeah, it's brutal and if you play metal, why don't you have one?

    Yeah -

    MARSHALL SHREDMASTER

    is where it's at.

Anyway, it's a bit fucked - the battery thing doesn''t work (runs of mains though) and there is a nut missing from the input jack. However, it works perfectly and will destroy any lame little pussy amp you try to run it through.

Comes with an official Metallica VIP pass sticker from Donington and a bunch of other metal stickers.

These things are going for between 75 and 100 on ebay since they are getting rare. Johhny "pussy assed public school assmaster" Greenwood uses one. Hopefully it will rise up and destroy him.

Used to be the guy from Risactonia's.

  2. I've got the insides of a JMP 50W Marshall (model 2104) housed in a plywood box for sale.

The amp is a single channel master volume head.

It runs two EL34s and three 12AX7s. It has Sveltana valves in it and was recently checked out in the shop and pronounced in good working order.

It's from 1978 and has the original Drake transformers in it. These amps are getting pretty rare, and more and more expensive.

This amp sounds shit hot is all I can say, and can go incredibly loud.

    Here it in action:

Have a look on Harmony-Central.com's User reviews.

300 + 10 to send it up to the 'deen.

  3. You can get a good valve amp for under the price of those PODs or Valvetronix things.

    Get one on Ebay.

Go for a Carlsboro or a Selmer Treble + Bass or just any valve amp, and crank it up and run a Boss DS-1 or Guv'nor2 into it.

    Here's a thing called a Red Bear:

And a Laney AOR - these things are good.

In fact, I'll sell you a 1978 Marshall JMP 50W head for 300. Comes in a homemade plywood box, but sounds the business. Used on all our recordings, and I've been gigging with it for two years. Sounds shit hot.

See the mp3s in my signature.

  4. Deadenstereo need a new drummer:

We're looking for a rock drummer who can do a bit of quieter stuff as well. We need someone who can practice at least once a week, and be able to play gigs. We also need a competent or better drummer. We also need someone with their own kit, although we might be able to bend on this matter....

What would be good is if you had a car, and could sing.

About us: we're an Edinburgh based 4 piece Indie Rock band. We've played 40 or so gigs over the last year or two, all round Scotland. We've recorded some of our own cds, and been getting some pretty good reviews. We try and put on a pretty energetic live show as well. We're starting to get a decent following in Edinburgh and Aberdeen, and are trying to build it up in other places.

We've also got our own practice space which we rent on a monthly basis.

Everything you could ever want to know about us (including reviews + MP3s) is on www.deadenstereo.co.uk

The uninspired (and inaccurate) choice is "industrial", but it doesn't really fit.

My current thinking is that they're metallic EBM, or possibly gothcore. (Note the two new minigenres.)

Jesus Christ! What's with the need to label bands? You are satan's spawn. An attitude like that got the NME where it is today.

Why don't you just say "they rock!" or " they rule!" or "they suck donkey cock!"?????

  6. There's actually a lot of MP3s up on our site now - www.deadenstereo.co.uk then 'downloads'

Both of our EPs are there in full, one acoustic live set Jon did, one "Unplugged in our shitty assed cold and no water or toilets warehouse" session, and tracks from our last gig in Potterow. There's a lot of songs that have never been recorded before - Trust the Tale, Smooth Stones, The Ideas We Have of God, and The Secret Sharer being a few of them. There's a live version of our forthcoming single "A Perfect Second" too. This is going to be a double A with Stigma's "Nothing Left".

The split single with Stigma will be in OneUp in a few weeks, and deadenstereo will hopefully be in Aberdeen at the end of April.

If you're too lazy to go to the site then you can get a couple of MP3s from my signature, plus some lifestyle advice from rock's coolest dudes - Man O War!

I'd recommend the track "Trust the Tale" from that live set, and the version of Teenage Kicks is absolutely blinding. Both of those are linked to in my sig. They play staright off on broadband since the file sizes are small/

Marshall '78 JMP 2104 with amp section ripped out and put in a plywood box that I hammerited.

Homemade 1x12" cab with a Celestion Vintage 30.

It all looks like shit but sounds the business.

  9. I keep our band's mp3s on my uni web space - we get a 50MB space for my course. If not, I would keep them on the space I get free with my telewest account.

We don't (and wouldn't) charge for the mp3s. Because we are a relativley small band they are a form of promotion for us, since our songs and recordings are pretty damn good. But we don't put stuff up that is currently "released". Once we run out of cds to sell, the songs go up on the site.

    Craig

  10. good verse crap chorus.

I'm not sure if this band are for real or not - they seem a little too MTV now (their first album wasn't - very Rancid like).

Debate - are the distillers too polished because they are scheming manipulators of image and the current social predeliction for all things rock and tattooed,

    or

Are they naive rockers who are manipulated by a very commerically aware record company who consider music to be "product" and the artist to be "content providers"?

Dunno, would the guitars on the first Van Halen album sound the same without it? (See "You Really Got Me")

I think tone (in reference to electric guitar) is what people hear, including effects, distortion, notes, the guitar, the amp, whether you play it with an electric drill or allen key or whatever.

Tone is very subjective. Although I've got it!

As from what I remember everyone just use to take the crap out of them.

Or was that just because of the drummer.

Yeah, they played with us at Drakes. Funny fucking stuff - that Pirate song still cracks me up

  13. Well, there's two options here.

    1) You could get a programmable pre-amp thing like the Marshall JMP-1 (Always on Ebay), and a guitar power amp and guitar cabinet.

For a guitar power amp I'd say either that 20/20 Marshall amp or a Peavey Classic 60/60 (or maybe 50/50 - can't quite remember what the model is) - should be pretty cheap, reliable and inexpensive to repair. If it's rock stuff the Marshall amp would be a good idea as you would get some nice power amp distortion.

For the cabs, a 1936 would be good, but you could get two 1x12" cabs and maybe run some kind of stereo setup (maybe with a rack processor?) Plus you can just use 1 of them for practising if you can't be arsed lugging two around. I personally use a head and 1x12" cab for ease of transport.

For rock, I'd recommend Celestion Vintage 30 speakers (60W power rating). I've got one in my cab, sounds nice, use it for recording and everything.

    2) The POD thingy's. Yeah, you're best to use a small PA setup for that. Once again a power amp (Peavey CS-400? - 2x200W) and some cabs. Here, getting a stereo power amp and two sets of cabs would give yo a kick ass stereo setup as I'm sure the pods and stuff can run some cool stereo delays and stuff. You need to cough up for the floorboards though. You have the choices between the rack one and the normal one. I think the rack ones have more connections and stuff - but that they are more for recording? I may be wrong here.

If you like the sound of the PODs then go for it - as for gigs you can just take that and plug straight into PA - that would be total heaven doing that compared to lugging amps and stuff, plus the sound man will thank you for keeping stage volume down. PLus if the venue has a vocal only PA, then you take your own PA system. A 400W power amp would easily be loud enough and can be had for cheap. I've been looking at Peavey CS-800 amps, and supposedly they are very reliable, and I've seen quite a few going for 200 second hand, so a less powerful model should be even cheaper than that.

Personally I'm not so keen on the POD sounds after trying to use them in the studio and hearing quite a few people use them live, but you have to be pretty pikcy to notice the diference. They are very versatile though.

  14. I dunno, sounds quite cool. I fthey had an amp custom built to go with it. It could be like a better version of the Variax and Vetta stuff. You could have different amounts of gain or delay for different strings and you could change the program for different parts of the song and stuff.

All credit for goiing ahead with it to Gibson. It'll be a flop at first but once the amps and pedals get built to deal with it..

Be nice if they put normal pickups and a norml jack socket in too though.

Nah, you use a noise suppressor between your pedals and your amp so if you have distortion on (from a pedal) and then have a pause, there's no hiss or feedback in the quiet bit. Hope that clears it up.
