I'd say Eels and agree with the Kinks. Both bands are widly loved and pretty big, especially the Kinks, but have a back catalogue as good as anyones. Hence under-rated.

Yeah, I must admit thats what I thought this would be. Was quite a surpise to see a slight twist on it, although really its still just Dream Festival which is another classic.

The music discussion forum never fails to bring up original thread ideas. In the last few days we've had most under-rated band, most over-rated band, best local band, dream line-up... I predict tomorrow to throw up Best Cover, and a few hours later, Worst Cover.

It sounds like a Guns n Roses tribute band with the singer cunt from Poison fronting with the guitarist cunt from the Darkness playing shits solos all the way through. It doesn't even sound remotely good drunk when most GNR will.

I agree that Keegan is over-rated as a manager, but the Premiership is always a lesser league without him. Him and Newcastle are made for each other, and I hope to God he gets re-appointed after Ashley sells up. Joe Kinnear's rant is quality though, so I'm more than happy for him to be interim manager at Newcastle; they NEED barmy managers. Glenn Roeder and Sam Allardyce were rubbish there because they are too boring purely as people. If they get Shearer in it'll keep me happy in the short-term, just because of the utter ludicriousness of appointing such a man on no other basis than he's a legend for him, but lets be honest, he's a boring cunt as well. I actually feel sorry for him on MOTD when you can see him literally trying to force some sort of personality on himself. So to sum it up, Newcastle need to get a) Keegan back or b) Hire Shearer and sack him after he loses his first 11 games. Going for a Sunderland win tomorrow.

Just caught the last episode of this 3 part comedy-drama thing from the BBC, Steve Coogan as a gambling addict. Have to say I thought it was absolutely brilliant. Totally tragic in places, real tear-jerker. First time I've seen Coogan in a serious role and he pulls it off amazingly. Been far too long since I last connected with characters as much as I did with the central characters in this. Everyone should check it out (all 3 episodes up on iPlayer just now!). 10/10

Well it is *technically* a more powerful machine is it? I don't know much about the technical aspect but it is isn't it? They just haven't really harnessed its full power (hence games running better on the Xbox). Sorry if I didn't make it clear as I was talking purely in the Specs aspect of the consoles, although I would've thought it was an easy assumption to come to given I did go onto say I preferred the Xbox. !!! Hope you're nae baffled nae more.

I own a 360 and am very happy with it, but have played my mates PS3 enough to have an almost non-biased view... The PS3 is a sexy machine. and almost certainly better than the xbox (i even love the look of the ps3). You can customise the PS3 a lot more as its far more open to file-sharing sorta stuff than the 360. Streaming your computers media is pretty easy to do as well. Blu-ray if you've got an HD TV as well is still a huge point (no word on 360's blu-ray drive, won't hold my breath on that coming out any time soon) The 360 in my opinion LOOKS better. I prefer the controllers despite having played with playstation controllers for a decade or so. Also, if you've got Vista then its simple enough to do the media streaming thing from your PC that the PS3 can do. The interface is pretty cool as well, although rigid and nowhere near as customisable as the PS3. I believe all Xbox's from last year have got a different processor or something like that making them sooooo much less likely to become faulty, so reliability issues when comparing the two consoles are irrellevant now. Plus even if you do get the Red Ring of Death things then there is that 3 year warranty. At the end of the day, it'll come down to games. Xbox has a bigger selection due to being out longer. I also think, that the games I've seen run on both consoles, run better and look better on the 360 (GTA not included, slightly better on ps3) although thats splitting hairs and there is next to no difference. In terms of exlusives then again 360 has far more ones that are worth buying (Gears of War, Halo, few others that I can't think of right now) although PS3 has Metal Gear which is probably my favourite game of all time. Reading this back, I guess its absolutely no help. It has to be said if your planning on playing online a lot than the 360 is the better option. If your looking for a all-in-one home entertainment system and money isn't really a factor then PS3 is the best choice.

to be honest, only fools WEREN'T being pes snobs back in the day, but its been getting progressively worse since pes5 imo and the 'next-gen' versions are completely unplayable. I've bought every edition since Iss Pro 98 and it's with a heavy heart that I'll be moving on to Fifa but at the end of the day I'm not shelling out 40 out of some dreamt-up loyalty to Konami. the new Fifa (and Fifa 08 as well to be fair) is head and shoulders above Pro Ev these days though. Although I still believe Pro Ev on the PS2 is the ultimate gaming experience and will probably try and get the new one on that on the cheap.

ooh err, recently got Freeview in my flat without reading this thread or realising that there were troubles going on. fortunately i manage to get a fair chunk of channels (all the ones i wanted) and this is on an old box-top aerial that must be at least 20 years old. the reception has been cutting out, and the screen goes slightly dim and green-like every now and again, but still entirely watchable. i still hope they fix it soon though!

Got both solo albums as well. They have a kind of wonky attractiveness about them, and i love them both. Songs like Hello Cruel World, L.A River, and Nowheresville are stone-cold classics, and the less immediate stuff on them I adore as a result of morbid super fandom.
