    Post Grunge...

    <winks back at craig, blows a kiss>
  2. Bass is alright but guitar has always appealed more to me...hence why I just bought a new guitar and I am no focusing all my efforts on it.
  3. Yeah the PA power amp would work but I think running through some celestion guitar speakers would be fine since the frequencies being produced are guitar specific so the celestions would be best suited to reproducing them? But then at least with PA speakers you're getting close to a transperant out put which is what you want I dunno...hence why I started this thread...just trying to find the best way to go about it.
  4. I don't need a tube power amp as it's only really a tube pre-amp that matters in this kind of set up. If I bought the vox, which is looking likely if it lives up to the rave reviews it has been getting, then the pre-amp/power amp and even a dummy speaker load are taken care of in it...all the power amp is doing is boosting the signal with hopefully as little tone colouring or addition of warmth as possible.
  5. But what about me and my guitar lol...nice choice on the SansAmp and Mesa Boogie.
  6. Pre Amp / Power Amp / Cab I have been considiering what to purchase when it comes time to get a new amp set up. I am looking for something that will be versatile and allow be to play a variety of styles...mainly aimed in the rock area though. I like the idea of a modeling pre-amp like a Rocktron Repli-tone, Vox Tone Lab or a Line 6 pod. Obviously these are great for practicing/recording with but I will want to run a cab from them as headphones aren't appealing all the time so, I will need a power amp. What I was wondering was does anyone have any suggestions for a power amp that isn't insanely expensive and will have suffcient power so that when combined with a cab I could use it in a live/practice situation. What power out puts would I be looking for? Next comes the cab. Something like a Marshall 1936 with two 12" speakers would be an ideal size. Can anyone recommend any cabinets or speakers? I have been look at various celestion's without coming to any conclusions. Does anyone use this set-up? Is it worthwhile?
  7. Red logos on my Oneill school t-shirt...
  8. that's tapping, the list refers to picking...and yes on records.
  9. Is it the Pod 1 or 2? I think with the floor board included that's more than a fair price!
  10. Lame ass computer that's no excuse power tabs runs well on almost ANY computer. It plays music back in a midi format so it's sem-realistic. Guitar, bass, drums and just about any other instrument can be put in. It's a cool way of learning songs though like other tab it's not all ways accurate, at least you can get a laugh from the guitar sounds.
  11. I dunno the list concludes with Mr Steve Morse who is the alternate picking wizard. You know the top ten is fast when features in at the bottom.
  12. What about the end of paradise city? There was a recent list of fastest player in total guitar, read like this... All numbers refer to notes per second. 1. Steve Vai 20.8, The Riddle 2. George Lynch, Lynch Mob, 19.8, 3. Kirk Hammet, Metallica, 19, Damage Inc 4. Paul Gilbert, Mr Big, 18.8, Addicted To That Rush 5. Eddie Van Halen, 18.7, You Really Got Me 6. Joe Satriani, 17.6, The Mystical Potatoe Head Groove 7. Nuno Bettencourt, 17, He-Man Woman Hater 8. Yngwie Malmsteen, 16.8, Far Beyond The Sun 9. Marty Friendman, Megadeath, 15, Ashes In Your Mouth 10. Steve Morse, 14, Tumeni Notes
  13. Well if you tune your strings up and they are a thicker that the old set this may cause your bridge to rise up. There is a thread somewhere near the top about someone having that problem and how to fix it. You will also need to check intonation as well...
  14. Try working on imrpoving you technique and perhaps some of the ideas suggested above. Dan has a Boss EQ pedal doesn't he? You should ask for a shot of that and see if it helps out your EQing.
  15. I think with the right amp and effects the gibson system could be onto a winner.
  16. It's not just the fact it's a floyd, any trem will do that.
  17. and because they go floppy you loose definition and tone, two very important things.
  18. If your tuning down often another guitar with a longer neck or thicker gauge strings is a worthwhile investment so I am told.
  19. Does a roland offer individual string sampling and effects to be placed on seperate strings?
  20. I'll be there with a few atomites who haven't seen the band live just heard the CD...well I should be...
  21. Why don't people just buy seperate strings if they are finding it hard to get packs with them?
  22. Yeah that's why you have a guitar with a trem and one with a fixed bridge if your down tuning, get the best of both worlds. The most lowest tuning I currently use is a dropped D, though my guitar is usually in standard tuning so a trem is just an advatage for myself.

Yip. There's a good combination to use. JB Model @ Bridge and a SH-2 Jazz Model at the neck. Does anyone have this? Is it good?
