  1. Jake what can I say...that was funny.
  2. Debates...people are always quick to blame the place where CDs are recorded. It is all about what you put into a mic not how much production you can do during/after.
  3. Well we are going to go and use 100 odd we have to record some tracks. When would you need them by? You'd have the pic of a big bunch hopefully.
  4. http://www.limmy.com/playthings/xylophone/ Have a go of the online Xylophone... ...there can be copious use of the C and F words...you know just incase you don't like that sort of thing/have small children in the room.

  10. Sent you a PM as regards website.
  11. I was on the Aberdeenshire Council website and I came across ARC 32 Track Digital Studio. Based in Aden Country Park, Mintlaw, Aberdeenshire. http://www.nefa.net/arc/ I have never heard of this studio before nor seen it mentioned on the site. Does anybody know anything much about it? Has anybody used it? Two lines lifted from the Aberdeenshire site " It is available for hire and is suitable for a wide variety of music genres in addition to the spoken word." and "ARC Recording Studio is a digital recording facility specialising in acoustic music and sound for film and new media." For those of you in the know their equipment list is at the bottom. I don't know how up to date that list is as their site has info from 2002 in places. Apprently it is 25 an hour for recording with an engineer included in the price. Recording: Soundcraft Ghost 24 LE mixing desk Digidesign Pro Tools 002 Hard Disk Recorder (MAC) Soundscape Hard Disk Recorder (PC) Neumann U87 and Electrovoice RE20 mics Denon DN770 cassette machines Monitoring (stereo): Behringer, Samson and NAD power amps Tannoy 800s & Wharfedale (near range) monitors Beyer DT150 headphones Monitoring (DVD-A 5.1 Surround): Denon AVR2801 A/V RA KEF Q55.2 (x5) Monitors Velodyne CT100 Subwoofer Signal Processing: Wave Mechanics Digital Reverb Digitech Studioquad Multi FX Klark Teknik DN332 Yamaha Rev500 Mastering: Tascam DA30 MkII DAT HHb CD- R800 Apple-Mac Superdrive DVD-R Field Recording: HHb Portadat Fostex DMT 8vl - 3.2 gig Sony Mini Disc MIDI Management: Pro Tools 002 Evolution AUDIO / MIDI sequencing DOP instrument library Wave File / Mp3 Management: Cool Edit Pro 2 DART Pro Wave Manager Creative Wave audiofile editing
  12. I think the title says alot...do people even know what is going on under the noses...in a lot of cases you could probably say no.
  13. Yeah I know that the sound has nothing to do with Tom's because when we recorded live there Craig managed to get some really good distortion on some of the tracks. Just something they should work on I think.

    Taxi!

Seems about right...it was 15 for us to get back to Portlethen one night so that's about half the distance to Stonehaven...

    Taxi!

The buses are going up in price as well...it is now 2.10 for a single to Aberdeen from near my home. It used to be 90p! or 1.35 for a return. Also Guitarist magazine is now 5.25 instead of 4.99...BAH! People are right about Glasgow. We were there last year and used them HEAPS. Only about 1 each <4 of us> to go from Glasgow Green to the School of Art. Though they were quite difficult to get a hold of outside of ranks and some of the guys were a bit weird...so I do tend to prefer buses.
  16. If I lived in a city I think I would cycle...though the pollution/possible conflicts with cars would be a bit of a worry for me. Certainly the green way to get around.
  17. Or have a taster on the 11th as well...
  18. Bike riders are only more difficult to see in your mirrors if they sit in a blind spot or put themselves in areas of danger. Ofcourse car drivers should be observant <many aren't> but bikers must take responsibility and learn to drive defensivly...it starts with wearing high vis, using headlamps at all times etc etc. It isn't a common occurance to see riders on rural roads adopting the correct road positioning. Only last week I had an on coming biker on a left hand bend <right for him> with his head almost coming across the white line. He should have been on the outside of the turn. I was postioned towards the center line on my side <the correct position for a left hand bend> and his head must have been very close to the side of the car. That is an example of where someone has put them selves in danger and made if difficult for the car driver to "look out for them"
  19. Off the top of my head: Bikers account for 5% of the motoring population in britain yet account for 1 in 5 fatal road accidents. Now obviously you stand more chance of walking away from an accident in a car that is still a worrying statistic. I think the mind set of bikers has a lot to do with their behaviour. In most cases a car is a tool from getting from A to B. People use it to go to work and the shops etc etc. They wish to arrive at their destination safely in a practical way. Bikes on the other hand tend to be for pleasure. Buy a big bike and head out on a sunny day with your friends to thrash a long a country road. Now, obviously some people use cars in that way and some people use bikes to travel to and from work, but I think there is a very obvious difference in the numbers of people doing each activity. A bike has super car performance but for a fraction of the cost...for a few thousand pounds you can buy a machine that'll easily transport you to 60 in about 3 or 4 seconds...a car of the same speed is almost unobtainable for most. The only car I have driven with that performance had an engine from guess what...a bike! Bikes can be safe and good fun <especially if you go to a race track> but there are a lot of riders who don't have the skill or conscience to ride in a manner safe for the public road...that's why they die, get speeding tickets and generally piss a lot of people off.
  20. Kriss Akabusi says... Saving that for AGES!
  21. Well apprently the Digitec Cross Roads which has Eric Clapton sounds is really good. I recall guitarist giving it a favourable review. It would be worth checking out for sure as apprently digitec have been releasing a lot of decent pedals recently.
