  1. I use FutureQuest who I've had a working relationship with for years now (they host this web site as well funnily enough). I can get you a discounted rate with them, but there is cheaper web hosts out there and you might want to look at European based web hosts instead (they are based in Florida) now the pound is so weak against the dollar. I think 1&1 is still pretty cheap and cheerful.
  2. That's not true now I'd say. There is plenty of CMS and WCM systems that are open-source and can be easily deployed. Wordpress is one that instantly comes to mind - that literally takes 5 minutes to install once you have your web hosing sorted out. I moved to my blog onto Wordpress last weekend and after a few hours this is what I had to show: existentia And no, I'm certainly no web designer. The design I used is a freely available template of which there is thousands to choose from.
  3. Yup, completely agree. Take the web site design factor out of the equation and think about the size of the potential audience that will discover your site. If you get your own web site put together then you have to make sure it's indexed by the likes of Google, Yahoo etc so people can actually find it in the first place. The likes of MySpace and Bebo do this automatically and they do it well (how often is a band's MySpace site the first result returned by Google even over their own web site?). If you're a big signed band with an already established fan base then yes, there are advantages to having your own site (the consistent look and feel, online store to sell your merch, control over advertising, downloads etc). But for everyone else, just put a MySpace page up. Even if they all mostly look god-awful.
  4. He should be on good form, scored a decent goal for us at the weekend against Sheffield Wednesday.
  5. Looks in Dave's direction...
  6. Yep, never going to happen. Unfortunately, his constant attempts to post on this web site would seem to suggest he is unable to grasp this basic state of affairs. I also wouldn't have thought that it is in MMW's best interests to have such petty squabbling so easily found on the Internet but hey, what do I care. Anyway, the title of this thread is "We Shall Be Blessed...". So can we return to that topic please gentlemen...
  7. There are a few utilities out there that let you put music on / take music off iPods without going near iTunes. I can recommend: SharePod
  8. If only people could take heed of such advice. *sigh* How To Behave On A Forum - Video Although I've been guilty of triggering Godwin's Law a few times. :O
  9. I performed a tactical break-up to avoid not only buying Xmas presents but Birthday presents for her as well. Result!
  10. It is, until you format the disk in order to actually use it. Then you have around 931GB usable (give or take). Why? This post tries to explain: Hard drive showing wrong capacity? Here's why. - PCMech Forums
  11. If Firefox has forgotten the login details then it should ask you if you want Firefox to remember them when you login again (an option bar appears at the top of the screen after login). However, that's a Firefox 3 thing so maybe you don't see that. What version are you using? Also make sure that under Tools -> Options -> Privacy you have "Accept Cookies From Sites" checked and "Keep until" set to "they expire".
  12. Would something like this work? [Forms]![StaffBookSearch]![WhatAuthor] Like '*'
  13. I bought a second-hand 16GB iPod Touch at the beginning of the year and have no real complaints (it replaced a 4GB iPod Nano). The only thing that annoys me about it is the fact that the volume control is touch controlled like everything else. That's not usually a problem but I bought a leather case for it to stop it getting scratched and as the volume slider is at the bottom of the screen then it proves trickly to control as the edge of the leather case gets in the way. A minor niggle, and one that the newly revised iPod Touch's won't suffer from as they have volume control buttons on the side as well now - similair to the iPhone I'm told. The real benefit the iPod Touch now has over other MP3 players is the huge range of applications and games you can get for them using iTunes (and many of them are free by the way). With the built-in wireless I can now check my e-mail, browse the web and instant message quite easily. And it's much quicker to use my iPod Touch to do these kinds of things than unpack a laptop and fire it up.
  14. Oh dear: BBC NEWS | Entertainment | Brand and Ross: BBC statement They are both suspended now and I think sackings are now probably forthcoming. Talk about a storm in a teacup...
  15. I'm more amused by the fact that this granddaughter is apparently in a dance troupe called the "Satanic Sluts".
  16. Have you got your CV and details sent to AAA (Aberdeen Appointments Agency) ? I think 15k is a pretty low salary by Aberdeen standards, even if it is for data entry. So I'd think you'd find something fairly decent (though it might be temp work) in or around the city centre. Mind you, most of the oil and gas companies are located outwith the city centre if that is the industry you want to stay in. Most of us have to commute though...changing jobs just because you don't want to get up earlier or have to start paying for travelling is a bit stupid IMO.
  17. The thread that was created regarding DJ Greig Easton (Radio DJ Greigsy arrested in city - Evening Express) in the Music Discussion forum has been removed by request of Northsound Radio.
  18. If you're just after clip frames then I know John Lewis do a variety of glass ones which did the job for me.
  19. If you're being serious about selling this and it's second hand then you really shouldn't be asking for more than 100. You can even pick some up on eBay for 75.
  20. Somewhat overdue, but the new Articles section of the site has now been put in place. All existing articles and replies have been preserved and I'm very happy to announce that we've listened to your feedback and added a new Band & Musician Profile section to this area of the web site. This new section allows any member of the web site to post a page with information about their band or themselves, if they are a solo musician. The difference with this section of the web site is that you have much more creative freedom with what you can post. HTML is allowed, your post can be edited at any time (as well as put into Draft status if you aren't ready for other people to see it) and you are allowed to add up to 5 attachments along with the post. These attachments can be photos, documents or MP3s of your music. If you want to get an idea of what is possible then have a look at what one of our members has produced: Pryon - Articles (obviously a bit of a Flash expert!) So please get submitting your band profiles. We're going to try and make a feature of highlighting specific band profiles regularly to try and give you all as much exposure as possible. This web site is very well indexed by Google and other search engines and already, within days of posting, a search for Pryon (the band linked to above) in Google returns as result #4! In addition to this some well overdue updates have been made both to the Links Directory and Venues Map section of the site. Again, please check them out and submit your own links from this page and please make me aware of any errors and omissions with the Venues page. Thanks!
  21. And the bad news is that the engineering works won't be finished on the Durris transmitter until Jan 09, if this is anything to go by: Digital UK - Planned engineering work table Freeview on Durris TV transmitter | ukfree.tv - independent digital television and switchover advice, since 2002
