Willum
Hi. I'll cut it short. I need something that will prove my age, and I need it by Sunday. I don't have a passport or anything. What can I get set up by then? Thanks in advance...
Cloud
Depends what it's for - but in short, you don't have a chance of getting anything official - even a passport needs to be a week in advance when you pay for the super fast expensive as fuck processing service. Willum
It's for getting into a gig. I might just be able to get away with looking 18 (Which I am, I'm not trying to bluff my way in) but it's all the way down in Edinburger and I don't wanna go all the way there just to get told to fuck off at the door. Sue Denim..
Solution:Go to the gig shitfaced. Well you have to be 18 to drink right?
KarmaTsunami
but you don't have to be 18 to have friends who are 18 buy booze for you then laugh as you get drunk in your hotel room....but some places will accept student cards maybe? RicoAUBL
he's right to worrythis one time, when i was in Edinburgh cos my sister was doing a show at the festivali got refused entry to go and see Alyssa's Wish at Whistlebinkies because i didnt have any proper ID- all i had was a prove it card which the bouncers didnt acceptdispite the fact that it has a photo, my name and d.o.b on (i've since got a new improved one that works much better)but the fact is... they wouldnt let me in (although i was 19 at the time) because i didnt have a passport or a drivers licencei said... look... i live in Aberdeen.. my passports at home and i have never driven a car - hence have never been assed getting a drivers licence..they said... look.... get out...so then kris tried to sneak me past themand then they got reeeaalll mad so in the end we gave up and leftthankfully we hadnt gone down there just for the gigbut it was still a bit of a pain
Snowball
If it comes down to it, take your birth certificate... obviously not photographic, but if you have something else which might back it up but wouldn't do on its own, it might work. Inkster
If you take about 5 different id's includin birth certificate they almost just let u in cos they can't be assed with the hassle and know you've went to a lot of trouble to porve ur age.on the other hand if they're a bunch o cocks they'll just refuse u anyways
MattJimF
On the passport front, if your willing to make the trip to Glasgow you could get a passport from the passport office.
Willum
Well it would seem thats my only option, but when kind of ID would they need to see...
allstardawn
they usually only accept passport/driver's license. if you LOOK 18 (and actually are) then its not a problem because i have only ever had a problem with id at henry j's as i don't trust myself with my passport and alcohol. generally, bouncers are pretty loose with that sort of thing but it can be a pain if you've gone allthe way down to edingurgh for a gig and they dont let you in
Guest gilly
I went to an over 18s gig in Edinburgh. They didn't bat an eye lid.
Fluffy
i have found in edinburgh alot of places will id you anyway. they wont accept birth cirtificate, most places only will take drivers licence or passport. i have a citazens card i use with easyjet but havnt used it to get into places. it took aweek or so to get.dont know if it would work but if u have a credit card you could show that to them -you have to be 18 to get one..good luck
