Funeral for a Friend

+ The Xcerts

+ Spycatcher

Thursday October 22nd

Doors 7.30pm, Tickets 15

With the release of their greatest hits collection "Your History Is Mine: 2002-2009" this month, Welsh rock veterans Funeral for a Friend play Warehouse for their first Aberdeen date in exactly six years. It's also a debut appearance up north for bassist Gav Burroughs, who replaced the departing Gareth Ellis-Davies last year.

Support comes from Aberdeen hard-rock trio The Xcerts and Spycatcher, featuring members of Gallows, Haunts and Cry For Silence.

I hope FFAF get at least a 1 hour set at this gig! Even if we have to bottle Spycatcher off... well with the plastic pint glasses :p

Just checked out the 4 new songs on Your History Is Mine and after Wrench being amazing was a bit underwhelmed by the other ones (was hoping for screaming!) but still probably the best stuff they have done since Hours (bar Into Oblivion which was an epic tune)

I thought it was absolutely terrible.

Sound was awful too.

Really? Admittedly I was right at the front but the sound was brilliant. Could hear all the instruments perfectly which makes a change at gigs. Normally they're bass drum/high hat heavy but the balance last night was great.

Only song missing from the set I would liked to have heard was 10:45 Amsterdam Conversations and was a bit surprised they played all 4 of the new songs. As they said the fans chose the setlist so blame them :p

I really didn't like Spycatcher but The Xcerts put on a pretty decent show and whilst not my cup of tea I quite enjoyed them

I was at the back and over to the right of the stage and I thought the sound was pretty horrible, all bass and drums and could barely hear any guitar work. I also found the evening very "soulless" without quite being able to put my finger on why. I ended up leaving early as I got bored which I was suprised at as I have enjoyed seeing them previously. Those slidey floors are a bloody nightmare as well, twisted my knee which is giving me some serious gip today. Very strange mishmash of tunes between sets as well and earlier in the evening you wouldn't have thought the Bassment was a rock bar. All in all a very strange evening and being soaked to the skin didn't help.

I pretty much agree with this post regarding last night.

Thankfully didn't twist my knee.

Just found the whole thing pretty underwhelming compared to previous times I've seen them.

Shite crowd too.

Hey ho, some you win, some you lose! Glad other folks had a good night :)
