tanglewood
does anyone here want to form/join a band or is it just the thought of being in a band that is enough for some.....the reason for my rant is that, many ppl have pm'd me saying things like "ye dude i totally want to start a band,i am well up for it,when do we start?" etc etc so i organise jam/practice/meets etc and no one ever shows or gets back in toucho_O am i missing something?is this a new practical joke?or is there really that many lazy ppl that just have a spare of the moment thought to do it then realise it is actually hard work and that time/dedication toward a band is more effort than they can be bothered to be involved in?dont get me wrong we can all change our minds but when certain ppl arrange certain things, then certain ppl can at least have the decency to let thus parties know!anyways thats my rant over, feel free to criticise/speculate:popcorn:

waltz
Because when people clap at songs you've spent ages trying to get right, it feels pretty fucking good. Hopefully there are enough people clapping to make the whole thing seem worthwhile.

Bigsby
Before the internet this stuff happened as well, it's just damn difficult getting a band together, even crap bands deserve some credit for even getting to the gigging stage. Guest
Just get an 8 track, do it yourself. If people are into home demos, forming a band becomes easier.I found it well hard.

If it's yours, problem solved. Become the new Stripey!
Panda Strong
It can be ridiculously hard to find 3/4 people on the same wavelength when it comes to what you like and what you want to sound like. It's good when it happens, though.--We're lucky enough to be able to play/record in out flat if need be. Takes away the urgency of a charged practice room. scottyboy
Yeah I've always had the same problem Home demos are probably the way to get started, though that's more money to fork out for recording equipment and more time to figure out how to use it. Panda Strong
Garageband and my mac's inbuilt mic has served us well so far (obviously that only works for certain types of music though, and how polished you need your recordings)

Soda Jerk
It's pants when people change their minds and flake out, but at the same time, everyone has their own lives to attend to. Bills to pay, friends and family etc, which usually prioritises over making a load of racket in a room. I guess stuff can crop up and catch you out, be it financially or whatever. Being in a band is expensive too. The amount I spent on strings, amp valves, repair costs and travelling last year was just ridiculous. We were lucky enough to have a drummer with a basement where we could jam or I would have been adding practice space fees to my expenses too. Luckily I still lived with my Dad for minimal rent and worked full time or it would have been impossible. That all sounds very negative, as if I hate being in a band. When I moved away from Leeds last year, I vowed I didn't want to be in a band for a very long time. That didn't work out. I missed it, and now it's becoming a pretty important part of my life again. I guess it's worth the loss.
Stupot
If anyone contacts you and says,"Yo, dude, I totally want to start a band." ignore them on the basis of people who talk like that are dicks.

Soda Jerk
Did you see us? We played in Dundee once, but that was our only Scottish venture.I hope you didn't hear our first demo. I recorded it with a Marshall AVT. Like a wasp in a megaphone is what it sounded like. GRNNNNGGG
Guest treader.
who was the Dundee gig with? it's all starting to sound familiar.
Soda Jerk
Frigits, 15 Minutes, Exit Evangeline and Owl Of Justice. It was one of Deekers shows at the Drouthie Neebors (spelling?)It was my first trip to Dundee, and I spent most of it wondering how the fucking hell do I get to that forbidden mystery Tescos at the other side of the Railway track.THERE WAS NO WAY ACROSS! Soda Jerk
If my memory serves me correctly, you were one of very very few people there. I believe it was something like 10 people paid in. Definitely not more.We didn't get paid, and we'd driven up from Leeds, and our date the next day was in Manchester. Seves us right for taking such a stupid route
