chilli
interesting music are delighted to be promoting this fantastic event as part of The Triptych FestivalSat 29th Apr 06 The TunnelsDoors 7pm featuring a never to be repeated line upmagnetophone (4ad) featuring sonic boom (ex spacemen 3) and king creosote schneider tm (city slang) gravenhurst (warp) & if thats not enough, a sprinkling of dj's some famous, some just brilliantEntrance 12 plus booking feehttp://www.triptychfestival.com/Tickets for this event are avaible via the above websteOR1 Up Records. 17 Belmont StreetORTelephone Sales 0870 220 1116from brum equipped with melancholic trickery they come: two harbingers of wistful sprawl named magntophone. a dream-like duo comprising childhood friends and techno merlins john hanson and matt saunders. magntophone first delighted with their debut album, i guess sometimes i need to be reminded of how much you love me (4ad) in 2000. it was celebrated both for its expansive, melodic ambience, and for the fact that each track title was invoked by scrabble tiles and a ouija board. magntophones radiant 2005 follow-up, the man who ate the man, is an equally captivating voyage through psychedelic techno-folk and dulcet introspection. its stellar cast of cameos, (including the breeders deal sisters and triptych 06 associates king creosote and sonic boom both of whom are set to join the duo onstage), is evidence, were it required, of magntophones quiet genius and enticing charm. schneider tm launch their new album on city slang / wichita at the show and Anybody fortunate enough to catch their live shows, will know what an absolute treat this band are. Expect serious humour...........multi-instrumentalist gravenhurst songwriter nick talbot exhibits a shark-like inability to stay still. over the course of four albums the gravenhurst moniker has charted the waters from bedroom melancholy, through acid-folk murder balladry and now, sprawling experimental rock music, suggesting influences as diverse as my bloody valentine, slint, richard thompson and the velvet underground. recorded with drumming mainstay david collingwood, the new album is a definitive statement that will challenge many peoples conception of the band. magnetophone http://www.4ad.com sonic boom http://www.sonic-boom.info/king creosote http://www.myspace.com/kingcreosoteschneider tm site http://www.schneidertm.net/ gravenhurst site http://www.silentagerecords.co.uk/gravenhurst/

goatboy
I can't begin to say how excited I am about this, my 'The Man Who Ate The Man' disc has been getting very regular outings for a good while now. Fantastic lineup for the night.I might be wrong, but isn't this Sonic's first Aberdeen appearance since 1989? Far too long to wait, if you ask me.A big Thank You to all involved in making this happen.Edit : And there's a plug for this in today's EE.
