Flash@TMB
The departure of The Good For Nothing? Collective from their regular 3rd Saturday slot leaves us with a vacancy for a new promoter. Here is the deal:There is no hire charge for the room. The promoter dictates the admission price (within reason). The bar does NOT take a cut of the ticket/door money. There is no charge for the sound engineer. There is no charge for PA or backline - even the cymbals are FOC.Both bands and promoter benefit from cost price drinks all night.A comfortable capacity is 150 with seats in and 200 with seats out.We have cutting edge live recording facilities available. The promoter is encouraged to DJ between bands. Here is our minimum criteria:1) Assume responsibility for booking 3-4 bands for every 3rd Saturday of each month.2) Potentially commencing as early as January 21st 2006.3) MUST provide MIXED LINE-UPs that cover a BROAD MUSICAL SPECTRUM.4) We're looking for 1-2 touring bands within each line-up.5) We require good quality control.6) The promoter would be expected to produce posters and flyers and distribute these. We'd like to talk to anyone that can meet that criteria. But our preference would be to work with someone that can potentially provide access to bigger name bands on a regular basis. We note that many of the 'bigger gigs' currently held in Aberdeen seldom draw more than 200 people, and The Moorings capacity is ideal for that. The bar may be prepared to subsidise booking fees and/or underwrite any risks associated with this, provided we are consulted in advance. We also have some scope to provide accomodation thus making the deal more cost effective. In addition to Saturday's, we also have the ability to host the odd gig on other nights, provided it's a touring act with a potentially good draw.Ideally we'd also like someone that can work with local and national media to raise our profile, something that we'd be prepared to fund as a separate inititive. This slot/position will also be advertised outside of this forum.Existing Moorings promoters may also apply. We'd even consider the P/T employment of an in-house promoter. We do not require exclusivity of the persons services.

Chris
Can you imagine what would happen if this guy was an in-house promoter at The Moorings? It sounds like the plot of a Disney film.Emilio Estevez would take over the moorings and give him the chance Flash never would. With a little bit of belief he'll grow to challenge the big venues at ther own game, and beat them to the booking of the year at the last minute, with the final bid of the match. He could call himself Mighty Ducks Promotions.
