CD burning speeds

what speed should i burn cd's at so that they will play on any cd players? i heard somewhere that some cd players will only play cd's burnt at very low speeds..?

don't know where you heard that from before...

best thing to do is burn at maybe 8x just to be sure cos sometimes if you burn at too fast a speed it doesn't copy properly and then it's a waste of a cd.Just what I've experienced anyway.

There really shouldn't be a problem with cd players depending on the burn rate. Main thing to watch out for is that the faster you burn a cd the more chance there is of getting an error which will make the cd skip.

I usually burn at 8x(1,200kbps) and my cds pretty much always turn out fine.

thanks, ive done a few at 16x and listened to them through with no probz. i think ill do the rest at 8x just to b on the safe side

For Audio Cd's I never go over 4x or the Error correction has to work overtime.

It's true though, there is... I have had this problem with cds burnt at 52X that would only work in certain players (only once, because since then I have burnt a lot slower). I consider 8X to be pretty much safe, and sometimes burn faster (up to 24X for audio). Data seems to be fine whatever speed you burn at.

That's just my experience, my advice would be to buy a decent cd player (preferably a standalone stacking system)

i remember mark at exile studios saying he didn't make copy any audi cd's at more than 4x

I do know people who swear by 4X and won't burn any faster.

A good 16x for me but it takes longer for me as i use the volume correction option which is just splendid

i guess im just impacient (crap spelling i know) and like to burn quickly

4x is too slow

I burn at 48x, and I find it works fine on good quality stereos, but it wont play on little portable ones.

Its not only the burner, but the CD you use too, cheap CDs are ok, but generally speaking you get what you pay for.
