I have no right to tell someone what they feel their national identity is? I think the Scottish passport he owns probably takes care of that one.

There is no such document as a Scottish passport.

Not yet anyway

Does it not have your place of birth on it? I thought they had changed them so they had this information on it? We have been advised to get a new one before going on honeymoon to avoid having to travel to get a new one in a year's time. Maybe I misunderstood.

In any case, the point is the guy has lived in Scotland since birth and would carry a "U.K." passport - not a ROI one.

Scottish Passport is, in any case, a dreadful travel themed game show from yesteryear, hosted by our old chum Craig McDonald.........

predictions for the return leg score? i think celtic win 3-1 and go out regardless.

and also' date=' wasn't it bryan burnett (the cunt) that hosted scottish passport?

/x[/quote']

It certainly was Bryan Burnett who presented that cornerstone of Scottish Television entertainment, who just happens to be a fantastic lookalike for a friend of mine and TV Tanned called Craig McDonald!

Artmedia will shut up shop in the next leg and try to ride it out if the y have any sense, but an early goal for them would kill it off. Celtic will miss Sutton big style. And they will have to actually play as a unit if they wish to progress as well. Could be difficult, given the time constraints. Hopefully they make an arse of it and are lacking in confidence for September 10th! Another Dons win against Celtic would be most pleasing!

If they don't get their act together then Strachan could have a shorter reign than John Barnes!!!

Still, at least he'll last longer than Steve Claridge...

There could be many understandable reasons why he would choose ireland. One of his parents is irish, so if it that parent that introduced him to football, he could have been raised to support ireland, then when faced with the choice i find it quite understandable that he would choose the team he had grwon up following.

It's every young Celtic boys' dream to eventually play for Ireland. Of course he took the chance. Like I said, many Celtic fans would kill to have a parent or other "back door" entrance to the Ireland setup. McGeady has achieved the dream of thousands.

Go to Parkhead on September 10th (if you are a Dons fan) - the away support section is physically surrounded by Celtic fans and you happen to be right beside the family section. Count the kids with Ireland flags. Count the kids wearing Ireland tops. Listen to the religious bile spewing forth from the mouths of 10 - year - olds. McGeady used to be one of these kids. Decide why he wanted to play for Ireland over Scotland.

This is boring me now, I'd rather be talking about the glorious Reds and Jimmy C.

So would I. However, the Celtic game has significance for us, because we have no chance of getting Maloney after his sparkling performance when he came on!

2 weeks ago we couldn't make up our minds who to sign, now it looks like we'll be left with no-one

I agree with alot of what you have been saying, but I jsut think that there are reasonable possibilities as well and i'm not going to decide why he made his decision without knowing him. It would just all be guess work.

Hah hah! Spot on, dude! He was head and shoulders above the others, wasn't he! He must have done well enough for the Strach to decide to keep him, I'd have said.

The P & J quotes Jimmy as saying that we WILL have a new striker in by next week. I think once Adams goes to ICT he will make his move. Sad to lose a utility man like Adams but I suppose it's a good move for him as he'll get regular first team fitba. And he never really set pittodrie on fire, did he?

Hopefully we can get someone in with a bit of presence to team up with Lovell. I think we are a striker short of being as good as we have been since '95. Needless to say we will be judged on league position and cup results, but on paper we look pretty strong.

It could have been worse, they could have been beaten by a bunch of butchers, bakers and candlestick makers from Invern...

Oh nevermind

His long range shooting is the best in the SPL

Like you said they were plenty of young Celtic boys who played for Scotland, are you suggesting they would all have rather played for Ireland?! Don't be ridiculous! And Aberdeen fans certainly do bigotry they just have less of a clue what they are talking about than the old firm fans. I'll believe you when i can walk about in a Celtic top without being accused of being part of a political uprising which happened in Ireland centuries ago.

The uprising occurred in Canada' date=' not Ireland. Plus being called a Fenian should not be considered derogatory to many Celtic fans, as many are obviously Irish Republicans.[/quote']

Well the movement was actually spread throughout Ireland, America and Canada, which fails to change the fact that i am accused of being part of a movement which happened centuries before my birth and in a other countries.

It's unfair to tag all Celtic fans with the same Irish brush. I've been a celtic fan my whole life. I would never and have never wished that i could be Irish. I'm Scottish, and proud to be scottish. If Ireland are playing i'll probably support them, but then i'll do the same with Wales and Northern Irelenand. I'm nice like that.

One of my favourite moments as a celtic fan was walking around the backstreets of Seville, St Andrews flag in hand and stumbling across a mass singalong of Flower of Scotland. It was brilliant.

There are thousands of Irish fans at Celtic Park everyweek. You do hear the occasional bigoted song, but i'm happy to say that on the most part there won't be a mass singalong of it. I can't talk for away games as i never go to them. I'm under the impression that these games are a bit worse for bigoted songs and the like, but really you have to accept we aren't all like that.

I get called a Fenian because i'm a celtic fan, yet i have no links in the slightest to Ireland, and truth be told i really don't care. Really it's just ignorance, on both sides of the argument.
