Presumably this will only be his share - there'll be a split with the rest of the band, potential sample clearances and any songwriting/publishing splits as a result of that, management fees, label recoups. And whatever deal Portishead signed for digital rights with their label will have a big old impact as well. If they've taken a big advance and given away their digital rights then it might just be that they signed a bad deal. Figures I've seen show a split between labels and streaming services as 70/30., this is a long way short of that but I'd guess there are reasons for it.

What if a band from another scene starts getting wide and giving your band evils? A BOTB throwdown would resolve any bandwarz decisively and be a lot less tiresome than some bitchy comments on Facebook or here.

It's the only one ive ever entered. I assumed most were like that, and the O'Donoghues thing was the exception. I was surprised that a pub like that would even try a BOTB thing - surely they only put on cover bands anyway?

The Abergeldie is right next to my house - keep the fucking noise down............. We entered the Captain Toms/Downstairs/Fat Hippy BoB last year. More for networking and the chance to play some busy gigs than any real desire to win. It was free to enter and we got paid a share of the door for the 3 or 4 gigs we ended up playing. Pretty sure everyone came out of that one happy enough.

Rise of the Super Furry Animals - its written in a mate of the band style almost as bad as Paolo Hewitt's, but it's not about Paul Weller so it's not as irritating. Next up is either the Kim Gordon or Yo La Tengo biographies.

Flights has a Nine of Swords pedal, dunno which one - it's pretty sweet. I think SIDCA use them as well. Earthquaker Hoof Reaper is a beast, so is the DBA Fuzz War. Fredric Effects and Rainger FX make some cool toys as well - the Freakensteins Dwarf is one i'm thinking about getting. Meyer Page-1 even?

Where can I buy a big ass tub of Haribo? Not a tub of little packets of Haribo - just a big Ol' tub of jelly goodness? Tried Tesco and ASDA this morning - I don't have a Costco card so that's out. Anyone know of a sweet shop that would have this kinda thing?
