  1. Some might argue that having CRASS in a thread about musical rediscovery is a bit of a contradiction in terms but tough tatties. I recently bought the Feeding Of The 5000 remaster (ha!) as my scratchy old vinyl copy has been nigh on unplayable for some time. That first re-listening to the thing as a whole in many years just knocked me out. What a truly striking record it is. I've since gone and given a spin to (the less scratchy) Stations and Penis Envy albums and a few of the singles again. I think I may well like the band more now than I did in the 70s/80s.
  2. This is correct. My recent rediscovery is a.c.acoustics. The Victory Parts album is a cracker with a few tracks (Stunt Girl and I Messiah Am Jailer for example) vying for position as my "current" favourite songs in the world.
  3. Review and some damn fine pics from this gig now up on Flares N Seagulls
  4. Just up - EP review and interview with Glasgow alt-rockers Call Me Ishmael as a preview to their gig in Drummonds tomorrow night (Monday 9th). Check em out.
  5. I was hoping for this when I saw the Inverness and Edinburgh dates announced last week. Great work!
  6. Updates this week include reviews of the recent UK Subs and Spear Of Destiny gigs at Drummonds and an enjoyable interview with Flash Of The Moorings. FnS - Doin' it just for you!
  7. I bagged it and liked it a lot. Shades of Primus and other eclectic stuff I like running through it. Planning on including it a Flares N Seagulls review roundup sometime.
  8. Gutted I have to sell my tickets for this. Interested? Go HERE.
  9. Due to an unfortunate double booking, I've a pair of standing tickets for sale for The National at the O2 Academy in Glasgow on 26th November. 44 for the pair (face value + fees). I have the tickets in hand so can mail out right away. PM me here.
  10. There's a few bits 'n' bobs up this week. Interviews with In Atlanta, Hooker Barbie and Malfuction all done just for YOU. xx
  11. I just read that the tour support will be the Michael Monroe Band who, as well as featuring the ex Hanoi Rocks frontman, number among their ranks Ginger Wildheart and current NY Dolls Steve Conti and Sammy Yaffa.
  12. 1. This gig was always gonna sell out really quickly. Fact. 2. The Tunnels is generally bad at publishing / updating details of their gigs. Fact. Two bloody good reasons for going and finding out about the ticketing for yourself.
  13. True, but the reports of the fabulous 2hrs + set they've been doing on the tour, covering everything from Public Image through to Open Up, coupled with the fact it's at the relatively intimate ABC is enough to swing it for me. Tickets and time off booked.
  14. Dunno if you'd really class them as world music but I really love this lot : Great albums and great gigs. Shame they hardly play the UK any more. Saw a couple of belting Lemon Tree gigs back in the 90s.
  15. The butter salesman and his cohorts play the ABC on 26th July. Tickets available here
  16. I like these. I just bagged some vintage reggae bargains from Amazon.... Barry Myers presents Scratchy Sounds Tighten Up 2xCD Compilation and a collection called This Is Ska put together by Mark Lamaar of all people. ?(
  17. British Sea Power supporting makes this a good bit more attractive.
