  1. Don't like to speak for the other lads, but my influences come from anything ranging from acousticy happiness (John Butler Trio, City & Colour) through to heavier kinda metalcorey Stuff (As I Lay Dying, Unearth) taking a trip through drum n bass/dancey stuff on the way (Daft Punk, Prodigy). This band is looking to be more on the As I Lay dying side of things. Kinda metalcore/hardcore with a bit of bleepery added in for good measure.
  2. Im 18 on the 16th of jan. This is where i'll be spending it most likely =P x
  3. acht leave him be! If the Cartoons can make the charts, anyone can. Hope it goes well for you. You just might have problems finding people from edinburgh on aberdeen-music.com. The only edinburgh based music forum i know of is for like hardcore etc so i cant help you out there.
  4. Yeah that could be a plan. Havn't been changed in a while. Startin to get a bit rough. Ta.
  5. yeah that kinda sets you back to square one... lol its fine if your careful about it =) and Im actually getting callusses tho! =o Never really had them before... they feel wierd... Merry christmas everyone by the way!
  6. Just for the record, if anyone else has problems building callusses, the candle thing actually works!
  7. yeah, most people get calluses though. I just dont... so i have to just stop playing for a few days every time this happens which really pisses me off. Thus, asking if anyone knew a way to build calluses...
  8. I would be if i wasnt already struggling to feed myself =) and if i could get to turriff.. wheres turriff? lol x
  9. Oh i should also say, its not just from normal playing, ive been learning ocean by john butler trio which has a lot of tapping on the high strings. A bit cutty.
  10. Yes your right. Blisters are for pussies. If i was a real man, my body wouldnt have natural reactions... it just comes down to the fact that i litterally cant press it down any more... your body stops you from doing things like that... helpful tips anyone?
  11. Ello all and merry christmas tomorrow =) Basically, heres the story. I'm a student in aberdeen but live in edinburgh off-term. I only have and electric guitar up in the deen so ever since i got back, I've been playing lots of my acoustic, which i couldnt be arsed taking up with me. However, as acoustics are slightly tougher on the old fingers than electrics, ive developed a blister on my left index finger that has been there for a few days now and thus cant really play properly =( Any tips on not getting this again? Ways to build calluses quicker? I heard running your fingers over a candle flame can help toughen the skin, but i dunno. Cheers!
  12. Not a great plan in reply to a post where i was complaining about someone being pedantic... x
  13. That was genuinely the highlight of my day! I've had a boring as hell day... Afraid i could never afford to take bike lessons, never mind buy a bike =( plus all things snow hate me. Sorry!
  14. Dear Uncle G, Please help. I'm a pedantic, arrogant arsehole that likes to pretend im better than others by insulting them on a forum. In order to quench my thirst for said passtimes and to generally make myself feel better about my life, which is of course pathetic enough to have said passtimes, I have started a thread on said forum which supplies me with ample material to console myself with. However, I do feel, that I am infact a dick. Any advice?
  15. I'm quite happy to do it. I'm 18 in January and ive got a fair bit gigging experience as a vocalist, but have been looking to play rythm in a powerpoppy kinda band for a while. Im not great, but i could play the demo on your myspace no problem if i had tabs, so if thats the kind of skill level, no probs =) I also live right in the centre of town so i can get places fairly easy. Let me know! Greg x
  16. I think you've got the wrong Aberdeen mate... This is for the Aberdeen in Scotland. Not America.
  17. Acht i might be up for vocals. Been in a few bands before and ive got a fair bit of gigging experience. Fancy posting some influences/bands your looking for the band to "sound like" (obviously not actually sound like... but u know...) just because, as posted earlier, hardcore is easy to get mixed up.
  18. dude... you copied and pasted that exact message from another post except changed the "my favourite band" bit... anyhoo. I'd prob be interested. Ive been in a fair few bands before ranging from kinda flat our rock'n'roll to proper hardcore. Played plenty gigs before from crowds between 10 (literally...) and 600 people. Big killswitch fan, but i take a whole lot of influences ranging from city and colour to daft punk to as i lay dying. If your wanting to keep a cool kinda "holier than thou" demeanor in the band, i wouldnt bother though. I like to go a bit mad on stage. find it much more fun. Im 18 in january. Dunno if thts too old/young, but let me know if your interested. cheers =) Greg
  19. i like the way that no one replied to this for almost 2 years after it was posted...
  20. Had a little interest in bassists position, but still waiting for confirmation. Still looking for a lead guitarist. Ta
  21. yeah i do realise that. Like i said, its just for the sake of having ideas down somewhere. they dont have to sound great.
