  1. Umm... Right now I'm using a Schechter omen 6 with stock pickups. No idea what amp now... Im definately needing a new one anyway, and Paul has sold his to a mate so now im thinking, i might just wait ages and get a tube one. Could take about a million and a half years though... x
  2. Yeah yeah, gay music, ugly singer blah blah blah =) I enjoyed it and had myself a wee dance! Was a good laugh! Each to their own eh? x
  3. I quite like that band... Saw them in edinburgh ages ago with a few other powerpoppy kinda bands. Was good fun! Although i agree with the vagina comment... x
  4. its certainly umm.... different either way! Cant help but laugh at them =P x
  5. Next had to chuck out all their christmas temp staff a week early cos they couldnt afford to pay them any more! In Edinburgh anyway. I hear its PC world and curry's next on the list. not surprised. No one can afford to buy new TV's right now anyway and if they are going to, more and more people are realising they can get it cheaper off the internet... x
  6. Cheers for all the suggestions. Was gonna buy the spider 3 off Paul for 100. In all honesty, I'm struggling to afford that, never mind more than double the price for a low range tube amp then have to buy a pedal on top of that. I'm not stupid, and i know you get what you pay for n all, but is there any slightly more budget solutions? Ta, x
  7. Agreed! And I'm not even really into all that tech metal stuff.
  8. Yeah thats probably the one. Really wierd EP... Well worth a listen though! Even if only for the shits n giggles =) x
  9. Yeah I can see where your coming from. They do become slightly more like... a metal band as the EP goes on. I was trying to get across their slightly... against the grain approach to their music (thus the We Came With Broken Teeth reference). But the opinion the first 45 seconds are almost something youd expect from Primus if you ask me. There are probably a whole lot of bands that sound a lot like them and I'm just seeing them as particularly strange because, as i said earlier, i dont listen to that kind of music. Oh and dont be offended that i didnt grab MMW while i was at it. Got that one when it first came out. Same with Fell Silent. Thought you guys were playing with Gehenna some time soon? I'm bloody gutted now =| x
  10. just realised that this should prob be in articles and band profiles...
  11. Nope, not me. unless I've been sleep foruming again... x
  12. How much would a half decent valve head be costing me though? Im seriously doubting being able to afford one any time soon, and a do need a giggable amp.
  13. Yeah i was quite interested in the SG too, but It'd just be a stupid buy as i really dont need another guitar... lol x
  14. any more information on the red semi? make model etc. x
  15. Kaizen

    Getting thin!

Ta for that! you may well have just salvaged my wellbeing =P x
  16. So heres my wee reviews of them. My opinion of course, so feel free to listen to the bands yourself and disagree! =) The Comanche Cipher: All in all, Very good. Slight overuse of a riff here and a dischord there, but nothing major. Didnt like the vocals at first (at times sound like the Billy Talent vocalist...), but they grew on me a little by the end of the CD. The last song on the album keeps reminding me of Atreyu for some reason though... Overall, Nothing groundbreaking, but definately a good listen and worth buying. The Arusha Accord: What the hell... Im 45 seconds into the first song and so far, its a cross between We Came With Broken Teeth, Slipknot, Nirvanas Incesticide album and lots of other things i just cant quite put a name to... Well this is strange. And oddly likeable! Its got this kind of off scale messyness a lot that i personally am not a fan of, but also has melodic vocal breaks reminiscent of Fellsilent, Which i do like. A lot. Major respect to all the musicians in this band. Clearly immensely talented. The Abner: I honestly dont know what to say... A lot of the time, i really dont like it... they've got this kind of gallows-esque-ness about them that i cant stand... but then they will kick you in the stomach with a big fat beat down then start dancing around you with their little pop punk choruses... Honestly, give them a listen and make your own mind up! Sorry... Cant help but laugh at this band... In the second song, they have a beatdown punctuated by high pitched "woo yeah!" gang chants... I just dont know what to say... Bloody catchy though. Shy of the Depth: Heres me sitting thinking "meh dunno, nothing special..." and yet i've not stopped tapping my foot since the EP came on. So it must be pretty good. Alot of it seems not particularly well thought out and there is alot more off-scale nonsence which i still dont like... and wont like regardless off how many otherwize excellent bands use it. Interesting use of rythm and very catch a lot of the time, but for me, most of the EP is overshadowed by an annoying irrelevant guitar playing irrelevant notes. Once again however, talented musicians. Gehenna VII VII VII: This is the one I've been waiting for. And so far I'm not disappointed! Metalcore the way it should be. Melodic and well thought out, but still bloody brutal. The first tracks suffer from a slight lack of guitar melody, but thats all sorted by the time you get to "seven". Not got much else to say, GIve them a listen and hear for yourself. x
  17. Sounds like a party! And sounds like you've got every angle covered. If I'm in the city, I'll be there! x
  18. I might be getting a hold of a line 6 amp head if the paul-shand gets back to me to confirm, so i reckon i will wait and see if i like the sounds i can get out of that and then just use the footswitch instead if i do. If not, the search begins again lol. Ta for all the help! x
  19. Its hard to find members no matter what for some reason. I posted the other day basically saying "I play guitar and sing and I'll play or sing just about anything." and got 1 reply... hmm... x
  20. I could do vocals? And rythm guitar if need be? Depends what kinda music though. Kinda lookin for a band to play really powerpoppy kinda stuff. A few examples: MySpace.com - THE VOID - Edinburgh/Glasgow, UK - Alternative / Rock / Powerpop - www.myspace.com/thevoidband MySpace.com - 2 Thirds of Youth (NEW TOUR UP + SUPPORTING ADTR!) - Glasgow, Scotland - Pop Punk / Rock / Alternative - www.myspace.com/2thirdsofyouth MySpace.com - PAIGE - London, UK - Pop Punk / Rock / Powerpop - www.myspace.com/paigeuk Dunno if its the kinda stuff your wanting to play?
  21. Ok first of all, I agree with you that pearl jam are, and always were the much better band... However, i disagree with you on a lot of points. I'm not a big punk fan, mainly for some of the reasons you listed there, but the way i see it, punk came around as a way to point out to people that music was for everyone, not just those gifted enough to be able to fling out virtuoso solos infront of thousands of screaming fans. I dont like the whole "bring down the system" attitude, because I've met a lot of punks and not one of them knows the first thing about politics. But on a musical basis, it showed the world that everything doesnt have to be about big bands, big hair, big stages, expencive outfits and expencive guitars. It was a bunch of people that grabbed a squire (or the likes) and started playing whatever they could and had a bloody good time. Really thats all its about. If punks want to crunch out some power chords in a basement, let them! If burly guys want to growl and shred to their hearts content, let them! If happy guys and girls want to sing about love while a synth plays a daft wee tune in the background, let them! I dont like any punk bands. But it's still a massively important genre because it spawned a lot of the music i do like. Wther you personally like the genres or not, they have had a massive influence on todays music. So sh. x
  22. Yeah i've tried out a few mates pedals and alot of them sound just like normal guitar with some static over the top imo.just need something with a bit of a punch. x
  23. Haha!!!! just got that! =P x
  24. Only because bands like Bring Me the Horizon have nicked the genre name. Im more of a metalcorey kinda guy myself. I like a bit of melody =P
