  1. Have a midseason break for World Cup/Euros. Even if Scotland don't qualify there's an outside chance that some players from SPL sides will be off to play for someone. In Russia they have their season from March to November and last year they took a break from 16th May 'til 5th July for Euro 2008 so it can be done.
  2. Bono doesn't need to look edgy, he has The Edge for that. Yeeeeeaaaaaaaaaah. Now there's talk of FIFA handing Henry some sort of a ban, I hope that doesn't happen - it'd make a mockery of the system and set a dangerous precedent that they'd have no chance of following up on in the long term. Are they going to give Maradona a retrospective touchline ban for 1986 now?

    Football Chants

Of course it was. I've heard that song so much more than I ever wanted to that it feels like it's been around forever. It's a good'un though, excellent work. No one knows what Poggy's going to do next, so it is apt.
  4. Ugh, that's ridiculous, they weren't even winning at the time. It makes the Kim Jong-Il story seem sensible in comparison.

    Football Chants

I know I've mentioned this one before but I like it so much it's worth repeating: LEEDS, LEEDS, LEEDS, LEEDS, LEEDS, LEEDS, LEEDS, LEEDS. Best one I heard at my time going to see the 'boro was during a 5-1 demolition of Bolton when Sam Allardyce was still there - "moan on the telly, he's gonna moan on the telly, moan on the teeelllyyyy, he's gonna moan on the telly." I don't remember hearing the poggy/aliadiere ones that euan mentioned on the lady gaga post during the 07/08 season when I went to most games, I don't think our fellow 'boro fans are that inventive.

didn't catch that bit, saw the clips of some game in Doncaster. Someone Blitz v somewhere Jets. Who knew Vince Young was good at this game? 5-0 since he slotted back into the team for kerry collins including a 90-odd yard touchdown drive starting with 2:37 left in the 4th quarter to beat the Cardinals 20-17. Titans 5-6 now and on a charge, if we can beat Indy next week we'll be well and truly in the play-off hunt. Amazing!
  7. Wirelessly posted (SonyEricssonK810i/R6BC Browser/NetFront/3.3 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1) I'd never seen it either, rewatching 'Curb...' made me want to check it out so I got the box set of the first 3 seasons off Amazon. I've struggled through to about half way through Season 2 but I just can't get into it, 'Curb...' is way funnier. The first two series of seinfeld are not good. The third one is better but not great. 4, 5 and 6 was the show at it's best, i don't think i'll ever tire of seeing the episodes from that era.
  8. Wirelessly posted (SonyEricssonK810i/R6BC Browser/NetFront/3.3 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1) I was busy being angry at boro throwing away yet another lead so i missed it. What did he do?
  9. Wirelessly posted (SonyEricssonK810i/R6BC Browser/NetFront/3.3 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1) Oof, you'd be gutted to be a barnsley fan today. 4-1 up away to plymouth at half time and then the match gets abandoned because of the heavy rain that's been coming down all day. Harsh. 2 goals for dave kitson, now all we need to do is not concede a second.

    Weekend

Wirelessly posted (SonyEricssonK810i/R6BC Browser/NetFront/3.3 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1) You're a football thread... The weekend will be mostly xbox and tv for me. Woo! Spring Break!
  11. I've lost my ipod, it left my person somewhere between leaving the flat and getting to my car outside the flat. Hope that helps.
  12. Wirelessly posted (SonyEricssonK810i/R6BC Browser/NetFront/3.3 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1) He'll be the favourite for every premier league job that comes up until he's employed somewhere thanks to his surname.
  13. F1 Rejects is a couple of Aussie blokes with a fantastic dry wit - the podcast archive is here if you can't wait 'til next season. Andy Zaltzman also knows an awful lot about cricket and I respect that.
  14. As well as the stuff that's already been mentioned I listen to The Bugle podcast from Andy Zaltzman (brother of Helen from the Answer Me This podcast) and John Oliver (of The Daily Show fame) which is good if you're into surrealist political satire and ridiculous puns. The Football Ramble is my favourite sport related podcast, 4 guys talking about the weeks events in football as well as a weekly feature section which profiles a player/manager/competition/stadium to be inducted into the Dean Windass Hall of Fame. Guardian Football Weekly - this one is slightly more serious than the ramble with more in depth analysis from people who don't annoy me. No Tony Cascarinos on here... F1 Rejects - the only F1 podcast that focuses on the back of the field rather than the top. Will probably be a while before they put something new up but come the start of next season I'd reccommend tracking it down. Collings and Herrin has already been mentioned at the top but it's ace so I'm going to put it my list too.
  15. It'll be winter time in South Africa, conditions will be ideal for northern european nations. Fantastic. Hargreaves will have to get fit and displace Carrick/Fletcher from the Man Utd team before he gets a look-in for the England squad. Barry instead of Carrick from Euan's proposed line-up and I'm happy. Maybe Upson instead of Ferdinand because I don't trust Rio to not do stupid things.
  16. Alan Smith is more Big Boss Man than Stone Cold Steve Austin. He's still awesome though, I had a similar wtf moment when I first heard him interviewed back in his Leeds days. Carragher doesn't know anything about anything. Even if Liverpool do end up in the Europa League there's no guarantee that they'll win it with either Barcelona or Inter likely to join them in the knockout stages.
  17. You promised you would check in but you didn't. I was worried. Anyway - I know you don't want to cite influences but you could at least give some clue about what you like so that people can give a proper response.
  18. I went for robbie keane instead of Defoe thinking he'd be well up for taking his anger out on Wigan. Daaaaaaaaaaaaaaamn. Preston v Newcastle on the telly tonight, hope that new French lad plays - my sources down there say he looked ace for the reserves last week.
  19. And it was only 1-0 at half time. That's immense!
  20. It's a 17.20 kick off. Bit o' class. We're at home to Forest tomorrow. It would be nice if we scored a goal, it's been a while since we last managed it. We have the mighty Dave Kitson available to us up front now, should help with that.
  21. Nigeria could do ok, Martins and Yakubu up front together? That's a scary proposition for even the best defences. Hopefully they've got some reasonable midfielders to provide them with some chances. I'll be citing my Englishness as a basis for supporting England. I think a shot at the 3rd/4th place play off match is a possibility.
  22. Unwed Sailor too, can't believe I forgot about them, The Faithful Anchor is a fantastic album so get on that.
  23. I do, it's cheaper, tastier and means I don't have to walk to Tesco in the rain *win* Today I'm going down the cheese on toast route thanks to the grill function on the new microwave in the kitchen at work.
  24. Those people can buy mayo and put it in their own sandwiches. I hate the stuff, even the smell of it makes me retch.
  25. Dunne was all "well, you're not the ref so it's not all your fault" and Terry was all "yeah, totally, that's what it was, ref should have seen it, can't blame me for that". They may not be the exact words used but it was along those lines.
