  2. Maybe he has an abusive partner? and she poured boiling water on his cock? Along with the mental and physical torment he's already going through, you just made him poor surgical spirit on his cockburn. You're an evil bastard.

Well actually i do know how he got the burns, but I'm not going to put it into the public domain! But I can assure you, he was in no way abused, well not in a way he didn't want to be!

But yes, I'm guilty as charged.

  3. I write this still bursting my balls at a prank we just played on one of our apprentices!

He came in this morning telling us of a nasty burn he'd got in his, shall we say groinal area(How he got it I don't know, and don't want to). We had a discussion with him saying that surgical spirit was very good at cooling burns, 20 min's later he returned from the chemist with the very thing, and is still rolling around next door, pretty much in tears!

Ain't it great being a bastard? :guns:

  4. We're in a day and age when most of us (I realise there are exceptions) buy a great deal of our new gear online. Maybe if we showed a little more support to our local music stores they would be able to price stuff more competitively, and I include myself in this.

Aberdeen is a tiny scene compared to most "big" cities, so obviously they are going to have a smaller market, and the market is even smaller with the amount of online music stores who are on the online market.

I know it's easy to have a go at the likes of R&B and Brucies, but if we don't use them of course they are going to struggle to offer great deals and prices.

  5. Hoping to get a Yamaha Akira Jimbo 13x7" snare this year:

    wsd13aj.jpg

Always fancied trying a snare with wood hoops.

Slap me if I'm being ignorant here. But wouldn't the wood on the rim deteriorate pretty quickly with constant use and have threat or cracking, rim shots etc? Nice looking drum though

  6. LOL

really?? Chad smith snare? You know its practically an export snare with a different throw off? He does not even use it in real life much - he only uses it for drum clinics. In the studio aparently he uses Brady snares alot. I like the Ian Paice Snare though - the lug locks are a good idea. Wish more new snares had them as standard....

I don't think at any point I did suggest that he did use it did? I like it, I don't really care at the value or the prestige it has, if you give me an export snare that I like the sound of, I'll

    use it!

And just for reference, I have seen Soul Funkin Hot on several occasions, and never have I been disappointed with the drum sound.

  7. I thought my DW was utterly horrible which is why I bought my Sonor kit and it's honestly the best decision I ever made. I made the mistake of buying a DW, just because of reputation and kudos factor but IMO, the Sonor SQ2 just wipes the floor with the DW......the bass drum especially. From what I've gathered over the years, DW kits are a bit of an acquired taste. They can sound great, and many people love them to death, but I've heard from a few people that just couldn't get on with their DWs for some reason. I'm definitely in the latter camp.

I totally agree with this assessment, I've heard loads of players who have said they dislike DW drums, guess it's the same as everything though, it's all down to tastes. The drumming world would be a pretty boring place if everyone loved the same kit.

But at the end of the day the big manufacturers surely don't make bad drums with their top end ranges? Or do they?

  8. how is that?! i've always wanted to play one.

I love it, I've had loads of Pearl snares over the years, and with the exception of the Brass Free Floater I think this is the best Pearl snare i've come across,

The drum is Nickel plated steel, and it makes the drum very bright and crisp, it also has a fantastic crack, and not only off a rim shot. When I initially got the drum I really didn't think it would suit playing rock stuff as I had bought it for funk, but it seems to have such a wide tuning range that it works really well for rock stuff. The nickel plating and large superhoops also makes it a pretty spectacular looking snare drum.

I'd say if you were looking for a drum in the 5" depth range, this one is well worth checking out!

  9. I have a DW collectors in a fantastic turquoise grain, 22, 10, 12, 14. I am far to scared to take this out the house so I had to invest in a "gigging kit"

My second kit is a Mapex Pro M kit in gold sparke. 22, 10, 12, 14, 16. I love this kit, I know that the Orion series is much more thought of, but these drums are fantastic. I really recommend this kit for gigging purposes, they sound great, look great and can't half take a battering!

    I have 3 snares,

    14 x 5 DW Edge

    14 x 5 Chad Smith Sig

    14 x 6.5 Ian Paice Sig

    Cymbals,

    Mostly Zildjian,

    14 " K Custom Hi-hats,

    2 x 16" A Custom crashes,

    14" A New beat hi-hats,

    18" Oriental china,

    Sabian,

    20" HH Power bell ride,

    8" AAX Splash.

Hardware DW and Mapex (respective kits)

    Iron Cobra pedals

    Protection raquet and Hardcase cases,

    Pearl remote hi hat

  10. I think at the end of the day we just gonna have agree to disagree. But this thread was posted for those who do like or at least don't mind covers bands (like myself) to share their views and opinions...

I know Mr Lame Guitarist, put your dummy back in the pram!

  11. has anyone heard of blues deluxe?

interested what people think... coz... we booked them up... and me personally- i havent heard them yet... o_O

Laura, in a previous post you said Blues Deluxe were your vote for Cover band of the year, then you say you haven't heard them. How does that work?

  12. Hey, This sounds awesome. I'll definately be there. I'm taking it this is pretty much just a mash up of all genres and stuff?

If you'd like, I can come down and help set up etc? Im no sound engineer, but its a free pair of hands to lift things from A to B? So long as I'm not at uni that day or away home for holidays.

    Greg x

Hey man. Yeh it is gonna be a total mix up of genre's etc, trying to offer as much as possible to get as many people down as possible. Gonna have a few surprises as well.

Thanks for the offer but things are pretty much all tidied up in regards to crew etc, but thanks for the offer, and I really appreciate your kind words.

  13. I might sound really silly here, but I'll ask anyway...

I heard ab/dc have called it a day... (my ex is good friends with scotty)... then I heard that they haven't... what's actually happening?

Hey Laura, we are very much still on the go. We are in the process of auditioning singers and will be ready to gig again for our date at Moshulu in March.

  14. Um, sorry to be the voice of reason here, but it was you who was in the wrong. The ref has sent you off....you should leave the field of play! The initial red may have been incorrect, but your bleating isn't going to change his mind. I can't believe that it took eight red cards for you to realise that maybe you should keep it shut. The decision won't be reversed, so all that you are doing is getting yourself into deeper trouble.

The first red card - incorrect (presumably). The others? Correct.

    Love from Christy

PS. Hawmin Calum, you told me last week that I was yer favourite ref! Don't lump me in with all the incompetents!

Yeh I agree now, that I'm ten years or so wiser and am not in tha middle of a game! But at the time tensions were obviously running high, and I'd just been sent off for nothing. This wasn't the outcome of a bad tackle, of punch up, Mike (The Cock) Pocock just came up to me and sent me off, I asked what for and he said spitting, that was it, no further explanation. Now I realise I was stupid to argue, but I tried to do it in a calm manner cause I believe myself to be a decent guy, I was truly shocked at what was happening, it's the only time I'd ever seen a card of any colour. If he had given me an explanation (which is all I wanted) there would have been no real issue!

The guy had just sent me off for something that I find absolutely disgusting, I was deeply offended by the man. The thing that really annoyed me was he was meant to be a Class 1 Ref, this wasn't a kick about, it was a decent level of football, I just though he could have handled it better.

  15. About 10 years ago I got sent off 8 times in one match from that utter Prick Mike Pocock. My first sending off was for spitting (Which I never actually did, and can't stand anyone who would even consider it), when I tried to explain I never spat in a totally mild mannered and bemused way, he showed me the red card again for refusing to leave the field of play, he then showed me a red card for pretty much every sentence i tried to say. In the end after 8 cards, i thought it may be best to stop saying anything and walk off! And at this point I may add, I never raised my voice or swore at him once, it was such a case of him being seen to be a big man!

I got a ban which covered 6 months, and I was released by my club and ended up playing in the local leagues! Seriously Mike Pocock, let me me say that again, MIKE POCOCK, who is an Aberdonian referee, is a Knober of the highest order.
